Relaxing Tour of Private Lagniappe Garden in Roxbury CT

I visited the lovely Lagniappe Garden during a ‪@GardenConservancy‬ Open Day. This 25-year-old informal garden in Roxbury Connecticut was designed to flow with the hillside contours of an old cow pasture and stone walls. The garden has densely planted borders on winding pebble paths.
Beyond the Greek Revival-style house's patio, the main garden curves toward a classical temple folly surrounded by the vegetable beds and the cutting garden. Uphill is the apple orchard; downhill, a Nyssa sylvatica allée ends with a Sissinghurst-inspired stone sofa. Below, the garden opens to a field with specimen trees including bald cypress, sourwood, katsura, and white fringe tree.
The Garden Conservancy Open Days program is the only nationwide garden visiting program. The organization is a nationwide community of gardeners and garden enthusiasts teaching and inspiring each other and the public. From expert to novice, there is no better way to improve as a gardener than by experiencing a diverse range of gardens, and gardening traditions, firsthand.
