0:37 - hurry up and wait, railroading right there. Great video, love those old EMDs. There's a 69 year old SD7 still at work in the Pacific North-West... marvellous machines built by proper engineers.
My Grandpa Larsen worked for Union Pacific for sixteen years . He was a brakeman and he checked the wheels . Union Pacific has a museum in the old library in Council bluffs Iowa by the Golden Spike .
I look forward to watching your videos everyday. It's amazing that we are 10000 miles apart and able to communicate. I been doing some studying on Australia. Very interesting country, very beautiful and I love the kangaroos. Keep up the good work and good seeing Casper again.
Great footage, thanks Adam! Those sleepers looking very old! I read further speed restrictions were enforced on the branch line this week? Hopefully they (ATRC) do some urgent work on it for you guys!
Goodday Adam, Your video's just get better & better. Sweet sweet EMD, mighy have to make it my ring tone. At Emerald Grain now the place is empty hope to see your combo in soon. Cheers Louis 👍
Space Ghost putting in work! Such a beautiful rig. I did a little digging and it looks like auscisionmodels is going to put out an HO scale model of the CLF's and CLP's and they're doing one of CLF3. with DCC and sound it'd be around $300 US plus shipping here to the states if they even offer worldwide shipping. Might have to pick one up.
Another winner mate 😀and really liked the timelapse of yard operations too 👍👍Good color balance and exposure too👍Cheers from the building opposite Southern Cross 😀
Nice footage and sound. Takes me back to listening to the drivers start opening up a loco on a clear night with Northbound traffic leaving Rockhampton Queensland a long time ago. Unsure what Class but nothing this big
I am from Oakland and live in Oakland so I clicked. Would have anyway. Love those engines. Always wondered if those little round windows help. Looks like they do. Thanks for such an interesting video.
Cool stuff! I used to be a fireman at Benalla in the early eighties and would often go to Oaklands and even further, I forget the name of the place at the end of the broad gauge.
Fantastic vid as always, awesome audio! One thing I love about the EMD 567-645-710 series of engines is you can always tell what throttle notch its running at solely based on the engines exhaust notes. Can’t do that accurately with a GE powered loco (afaik)
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER you did a great job on capturing the nuances of the sounds these (essentially) scaled-up 2 stroke Detroits make :D, what mic did you use?
It has a silenced exhaust but still sounds amazing. Sounds pretty similar to the CSX SD40-3 and F40PHR here in the States for example which has a comparable exhaust note (See ESU file S0765 EMD 16-645E3B LATE EXH T)
Another quality clip Adam. What's the oil change interval on these old bangers? Guessing it would be several hundred litres worth! Looks like you've got nice fresh pink coolant keeping things under control!
Hi Adam, what happened to the video of X31 with those offensively loud horns that near sent me A, Deaf, B. Crazier than I already am. C. Deafened everyone within 5K of the Maryvale Spencer St track,And D. Launched me to worldwide stardom in my own movie?
When the video mentioned that that v-16 was driving a alternator that produced 400 volts @9000 amps, it made ask, is it a AC or a DC system for the traction motors? Just curious.
I love to listen to these big diesel engines

Very cool , never knew Aussie man worked on the rail road
Haha cheers!
Man I love that classic EMD sound! Nothing like it!
Great video, great to see casper leading the line up

How cool! They run some massive trains over there! I'd love to see some one day!
the coupling cam was really cool!
Great video friend👍
Thanks for sharing... From Indonesian railways.
Nice smooth hookup at 1:35 and love the 2-stroker sounds
This type of diesel locomotive has always been my favorite.
WHAT A MIGHTY MIGHTY SOUND GREAT VIDEO LOVED IT.

Enjoyed watching your video.
G’day from Benalla, great video mate. Always love the sound of your locos going thru town!

Another great video, can’t wait to see more!
Very nice video & great camera angles. Nice to see the wattle out in bloom too.
Great video. At least these engines don't scream like the early ones that didn't have turbos

Great camera positioning. Very enjoyable video.

O yeah that sound 🤘👌👍👋
Hi Adam, another great video of railway life, keep up the good work you and the team are doing and stay safe. Cheers Lee.
wow - thanks!
From this locomotive I remember the union Pacific "overland" the shape of the locomotive is similiar like this.but the color is yellow and brown.
Wow that video was great. Was edited and put together well even with the view from the Ute etc. Well done
Cheers!
do not attempt to steal the horns kobey.
do you remember me matey? Im the one who kicked you from Goulburn Streamliners event 2016!
This is absolutely bloody fantastic mate! thank you
Awesome videos mate, as per usual legend! Keep them up! 👌
Great stuff diesel power!!

Cheers, I did spend some time on the audio, that's not straight from camera.
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER you did a great job on capturing the nuances of the sounds these (essentially) scaled-up 2 stroke Detroits make :D, what mic did you use?
This was the gopro hero9 with media mod, pulled the bottom end up in Vegas pro 18.
As usuall another quality upload.

No mufflers on these, straight out of the turbo.
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER ah neat. the different sound might be because of the E3C design, which the SD40Es also have where I live
@@CentralJerseyRailfan it's possible yeah.
classic EMD sound
Love the stream liners ! Hate to be dumb but we’re these engines built in Australia under a GM license or were they imported from US?
Engines were imported from emd USA.
The prime movers were imported but the loco itself is Australian designed and built
Oaklands used to have a dual guage yard
Great fottage mate the engine room looks pretty cool! Prehaps a tour of what is inside the engine room some day?
I have a video of the CL engine room. Have a suss.
Love it as always Adam, 👍
0:10 Buzzinga
0:34 There must be some boring times while waiting?
More coupling cam
I swear they let any crazy people drive those trains
Where did you get your license from ?
Haha why do you say that? I trained for 4 years to operate these.
Another quality clip Adam. What's the oil change interval on these old bangers? Guessing it would be several hundred litres worth! Looks like you've got nice fresh pink coolant keeping things under control!
It depends on oil samples usually, if the oil needs to be changed, it is if not its left in.
He looks kind of Red in the collar area 🤣
How many more years will CLF3 still be around? Awesome stuff again . . .
Many years I'd Say!
At 2:00, what's the purpose of the dog house on the end of the cars?
They are ex coal wagons but also keeps spilled grain off the ends of the cars as it grows on there if not removed.
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER They haul grain in open cars??
@@dannywilliamson3340 these have lids that close pneumatically.
Where did you get your driver's license ? From a Cracker Jack box ?
From the title I thought you were going to load the train with chlorine trifluoride...

When the video mentioned that that v-16 was driving a alternator that produced 400 volts @9000 amps, it made ask, is it a AC or a DC system for the traction motors? Just curious.
@@peterenglish2573 Thanks for the information.
It's around 600v-750v - DC, to AC, back to DC for traction power.
Australia is a very beautiful place if you don't get killed by a spider or a jellyfish
Don't forget to Check your boots 🥾
did Aus ever build its own loco's or did it just buy US from the start?
All of these locos were built in Australia with American parts.
One train car weighs how much ? 500 thousand ?
About 80ton each
Can you still get engine parts?
Yeah you can still get them.
Is the cab restored to a modern one ?
Yes, They were refurbished by Morrison Knudsen Australia in the early 90s
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER Ah I see. Thank you for the quick reply 😊👍
have you ever driven a deltic?
No they are in the UK
