Check out two methods of removing HIGH ISO noise from multiple images for comparison. First, I walk you through noise removal from an images shot at ISO 8,000...then, to really push the software, an image shot at ISO 16,000!

Great demonstration … I have all the denoising software applications and they’re excellent, but for me DXO Pure Raw is still the gold standard. Enjoyed the video 👍

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. DXO is some awesome software! I’ve been a NIK user for 15+years. 😊

Good stuff. I have been using Topaz Photo AI since it's inception, and routinely go to ISO 6400 with my Olympus EM1X and the 300 pro for my birds in flight and critter shots. As always, I try to get my ISO as low as I can for a given situation. Cheers!

I use both programs you mentioned. Still testing both for high ISO images shot with my RF 100-500mm that only opens to 7.1 at 500mm. In low light, it’s a pretty good bet that Auto ISO takes it way up there! I switched from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom and now to Adobe Camera RAW then Photoshop. I’ll denoise anytime it’s needed, and will use Topaz and/or Lightroom randomly. I wish Adobe would add plugin support in Lightroom, Lightroom Classic has it and it’s one of the features I miss. I switched to Lightroom Desktop because I got tired of having to import.

My telephoto only goes to 6.3 at 600mm which is why my ISO tend to swing higher early morning. I just keep an eye on my shutter speed and try to keep it reasonable. But even then, the software does such a great job that I’m just not paranoid about it anymore. And yes, that’s one of my biggest issues with LR and its new capabilities…no plugin support. I’ve stuck with my current workflow, LRC to plugins or Photoshop, then back to LRC. Took some routines and discipline to make sure I don’t mess up the catalog. But it is a bit of a headache.

@@KateSilviaPhotography My workflow seems to be in flux even now as lately I just go to a folder and open an image directly into ACR from there skipping Lightroom altogether. (I have all my images organized into Year - Month - Day folders.)

@@TC_Conner Workflow is definitely a personal thing. I tell my students that when it comes to image organization and workflow, they really have to follow how their brain works. Do they remember things chronologically, or are they subject or location based. I can't remember dates to save my life but I remember where I was when I took a particular photo...so that's how I organize my images. And I keyword like crazy now which is helpful. Finding old stuff when I didn't keyword is annoying. My workflow with Adobe has evolved over the last 20 years but is essentially the same overall. This helps me perform tasks more easily and quickly. But I try not to impose my workflow on others...even as a teacher...because it has to make sense to them, their software choices, their organizational flow...etc...

@@KateSilviaPhotography I started my photography journey somewhere around 2006 or 07, it was also around then that I started using Lightroom Classic Version 4 I think it was. It was before Adobe startee their Photography Subscription plan, which I've been enrolled in since it started. It wasn't until recently (June of last year to be exact) that my workflow started to change; I began learning color theory from Blake Rudis and after taking Matt Kloskowski's course on switching from LrC to Lr desktop. Adobe implemented changes to Liightroom making it a breeze to finally get to your photos without having to import. I really don't miss the cataloging feature as I've learned to do that on my own using folders, as I mentioned earlier. I've never used keywords in my workflow, but can see their benefit. Do you use any other editing software such as Luminar Neo and/or ON1 Photo RAW? I have both programs and used to use them often, but rarely see the need since my workflow change. I should mention that the change I'm seeing in my overall photography journey has been jump started since joining Blake Rudis's f64elite commumity and especially and most recently his The Color Course for photographers. Are you familiar with Blake and/or Matt K?

Very familiar with Blake and Matt. Wonderful instructors! I have Luminar NEO and have experimented with On1. Excellent software. As an instructor, the vast majority of my students are in the Adobe ecosystem so I stick with that primarily. I do suggest Luminar to people just starting their photo journey because it’s so easy to use and can still grow with you as you learn. On1 is like LR and PS in one program. I just don’t have time to become proficient at all of them so I spend all my time with Adobe. 😊

Silly question time. I looked under the 'FIle' tab and 'Plug-In Extras' but it says none defined. I have DeNoise on my machine and can access using the right click on image method. How do I get access through File tab, please?

Hmmm. Are you in Lightroom Classic or Lightroom? Regular Lightroom doesn’t support plugins but Lightroom classic does. You could also just open the raw file directly into the Topaz software and circumvent Adobe. Just be sure to import the results if you’re using Lightroom Classic for all your photo editing. It could also have to do with your Lightroom Classic preferences for plugin work. Resetting preferences could help but you might want to do some further research on that. I hope this helps. ☺️

@@KateSilviaPhotography Thanks for your reply. Yes it is LR classic V13.2. I was just going to try your suggestion to see if I get any advantage. I am only an amateur enthusiast and usually always do the 'right click' thing. :) I'll try a LR group and see if anything come to light :) Thanks.

Most of the time, just right clicking and launching is just fine. Only when the noise is exceptionally bad or if I plan on making a large print, would I take the extra step to open it as a RAW file. Most of the time, it won't make a huge difference. Happy Editing! :)
