I think I would be having fried chicken for supper Allen..... you do some nice work. I was a welder/fabricator , plant supervisor for 25 years. Sure wish I had a few more fabricators like you when I was still in the business. I was building big smokers on trailers for awhile on the side , like 30 inch diameter and 8 feet long. Now I own a Diner so I don't have the time to build smokers...... Keep up the great work. Been watching your videos for close to a year now and have been kinda quiet. But you are a great fabricator/welder and anybody would be who buys one of your smokers would be getting a great deal and product.
Nice work. When you said that you would have to make multiple plates to remove instead of one giant heavy one and was worried about heat loss, Ever think about evening out the plates and adding on some 1 by on the edge to help with loss ? Just tuck the next plate under or so forth till the end. Kinda like what you do to the lid to prevent smoke loss. Good videos, looking to build a somker this summer.
Allen after watching your videos for some time, my next welder is a Lincoln. If it can operate outside in the monsoons and humidity and the cold you had last winter, it will work for what I need it to do.
Allen, keep the videos coming. I'm from South Louisiana and love cooking as much as you love making the pits. Your tips and techniques are extreme and your ideas are excellent. Bless you, brother!!
Hi Allen I love your videos I really like your work. You were talking about the heat getting out because you have the lid on the top of the fire box. I have built a few pits and I build reverse flow pits and I always up the fire box up under the main chamber about 6” and push the coals to the back of the fire box so the heat has to rise up. Try that on the next build and cook with it and you will be amazed how much better it works and keeps the cooking chamber hot much easier. But hands down I love your channel.
I think this question is best for you,, If I want to make a vertical smoker with a offset fire box, what are some good dimensions without going too big?Going to use for the usual,,,, ribs, pork butts, brisket, chicken, sausage and salami. but not all at once. and thanks for all the great videos.
Videos or awesome but don’t let all this extra work every day where you out remember to pace your life enjoy it and spend plenty time with your family! That being said I love your channel I’m a South Louisiana fan!
I thought you would have made that lid by doing that notch and fold technique you had in another video, then you just have to weld the 4 corners. You make some nice stuff, do you get the pleasure of doing just these for a living? Thank you for the videos.
Who needs a guard dog with a rooster like that ,,, but like the build so far but just talk the guy into the table and burners on the back that would be an awesome cooker all the way around ,,love ya work man keep it up but add the garden in a vid that would be great too
Maybe flange the removable plates for grilling... might keep it from leaking as much (just a thought). Looks real good though bro, that rooster cracked me up.
nothing like getting into your work is there Allen? I also now of a rooster that would be boiling on 1 of your cookers like right now if not sooner. thanks for sharing
Hey Allen, all you got to do is grab the Rooster by his legs and flip him upside down for a few minutes in front of the other hens. Do it for a while and u will humiliate him in front of his girls. I got 4 Rooster of my own. It works.
You keep backing up and you telling him he is in charge! Never back away you have to be alpha and dominant and never let him get the idea he can get his way!
@@Allensweldingwoodworking I bet he was a tough SOB Love your videos bro you do great work but that rooster stole the spotlight I would love to see round two
Put a ail in thepropane ring and a clean out door on the bottom of the pig roaster than you brush the grease into yonder pail the chicken fight was the funniest thing I’ve seen ina long time
