Nice one STV. Great to see a long interview with Dave so early on and only 18 months after the demise of Nirvana.

You could be right, I searched YT for this and could not find it, so it might be a rare item.

I couldn’t possibly say what I would have done in William’s shoes…. What he did showed a noble strength of character…
On the other side of that dollar bill… Do you stay ? Let Dave put drums on the record and only play live … until such time as he sees fit ?
I personally may have said … “fuck … really ? .. I guess so maybe

William is a really good drummer, especially now. I feel like Dave was just somebody that already had a clear vision on the bands sound. Maybe if there was clear communication on Dave’s part it wouldnt as big of an issue between him and william

a drummer in your 20s? you definitely walk away like william did. maybe in your 30s you have less hubris and can see how good of a job it is.

It was one of those once in a lifetime opportunities that - good or bad - William chose not to take. Dave wanted him to stay in the band. Had William swallowed his pride after a serious and possibly unjustified blow to his ego, and agreed to the TCATS tour and worked on his technique/studio chops, he could still very well still be a member of the Foo Fighters - or at least recorded another album or two with them and have been set for life financially and professionally.
However, he was young and pissed off and chose to bounce. Ever since, he’s been in relative obscurity and may or may not be living somewhat comfortably, but as he was selling drum lessons for a while I’m not so sure he’s doing amazingly well.
That shit would keep me up at night if I were him - particularly after getting married and having kids - but that’s just me.
