Opel actually lost the GSI respect years ago... There so many disappointing GSI models. Corsa GSI 1.6 Corsa GSI 1.8 Astra GSI 2.2 NA Astra GSI 2.0 Turbo I think their OPC name tag kind of replaced what GSI meant. I think GSI now means mid range and OPC means top of the range. I think OPC is a better rival to GTI. Although OPC is a lot wilder and sportier than GTI. Unfortunately VW don't have a direct rival to the GSI range as GSI now means mediocre in my opinion. Just my opinion guys
The Corsa is the only car I would personally buy with the 1.4l petrol engine I've never really come across a standard Polo in the Vivo shape with a 1.4l engine but I have with the Figo shape Fiesta and those 1.4l engines sound far to throaty for me, especially through the exhaust. I'm talking about a 6 cylinder type of throatiness, although it is a 4 cylinder. The exhaust on the 1.4l Figo shape Fiesta also sounds a bit to sporty to my liking. I notice that our 2011 Figo has these exact issues as well. The Corsa doesn't sound throaty at all, which I like, and the exhaust just gives off a deep hum which I like as well. As a typical every day car I ould take the 5 door hatchback for practicality.
Spot on Review. Nice features and design. But the like reviewer said it is a missed opportunity performance wise. If you're not out there to compete with the Fiesta ST or Clio RS performance wise with a GSI tag on it, don't even bother creating it with that price tag, I'd rather get the Corsa Sport (cheaper with same performance) or Fiesta ST (more performance) to get the bang for your buck.
As an owner of the current model Corsa 1.0T I can honestly say that this car is a rip off. The OPC has been available overseas since 2015 and it never made it to our shores, despite massive interest! Now they made this GSI look exactly like an OPC, even the suspension is the same, yet they put in the 1.4T engine from the Corsa Sport. For around R300000 this car would have been great value. But at that price, I'm sorry but Opel are crazy. I will keep my 1.0T and do some modifications to make the faster and handle better in the near future
As a salesman of the Opel brand, I would advise you to just get a decent second hand OPC instead of this for less money. As he said at the end, the Corsa OPC of this 5th generation is very memorable indeed.
As a life long Opel fan, I'm disappointed in the new GSI, I'm really glad you dropped the Corsa OPC in there for comparison, if this was meant to be the replacement, then they have sorely failed. I've driven the 2008 and 2015 Corsa OPC models and they are something very special, they have unexpected grunt, it wants to go from the second you put your foot down, with the new GSI, you dont get that feeling, the car does so much to make you think its sporty, but the general lack of feedback from the steering wheel and disappointment from looking at your speedometer, a whole other story is told. Big miss for Opel, big hole for my heart, 10/10 for video
I am Opel Fan but I am also a price sensitive consumer so I will rather choose Clio or GTI but I must admit the Opel is more cooler , sporty and unique
No its not. The GTI and Clio are more cooler, sporty and unique... especially the Clio. For the price of this little Opel you can buy a sports sedan with a v6. The new corolla hatch is also terrible value for money.
@@angrysocialjusticewarrior The corolla hatch is expensive that's true actually what is happening to cars these days aren't fighting inflation because they are way more becoming expensive as for myself I cannot buy a small hatch with R260 000 upwards I will rather top up to 2017 Toyota Rav4 that has maybe 25 000 km on the clock its value for money and I can keep to for the next 10 years
The corsa Gsi is not a competitor to the polo Gti. The Opc is built to compete with the Gti have a look at the Corsa Opc don't think it's coming to SA though.
@@bhekigiven6477 Yes you correct but that was the previous generation corsa OPC the one I am referring to is the 2018 version. Check it out on you tube
Yes unfortunately, the GSi were outstanding machines, constantly in the fight with XR Ford series and the GTi by VW. PSA have missed the concept quite far of what the GSi should be - fast, raw and GTi-like performance. Nowadays this is just a relatively quick car to go to your local Lidl.
My friend has a 2015 Corsa turbo and it has the same motor in , what's the point of this car then ? I honestly thought the GSI would be more powerful. Disappointing !!!!!
Nobody in this comment section over the age of 20 ffs we had nova gsi in uk when i was a kid, kids these days think there doing everything the first time its ever been done🤦♂️
woody555kl I remember being taken for a drive in a nova with a calibra turbo engine in it, scariest 5 minutes of my entire life! Love old motors like that.
The car was overpriced considering he segment it compares with, I was disappointed with the power output on this car, overall the shape is good and interior is the best. I can't fault any other things except that we were shortchanged of power. I'm an Opel fan through and through.
The cinematography is absolutely epic! Awesome video!
Thanks so much! Really glad you enjoyed it

Great spec in this 'sport-hatch' - definitely not 'boring... OPC braking and suspension plus exterior & exterior styling... fullhouse.
Its lookin just like the Corsa OPC spec..
i have the first gen OPC corsa and its amazing!! Carzy car
VW nurtured the GTI badge from its inception. To make it as significant today.
While Toyota and Opel on the other hand.. well yea, you get the point.
this is a warm hatch at best
I don't think I like this car but I like the video...

Pity about the power issue as its looks a good car.

@Abulele Kufa I was thinking the same thing!
Compared to the Ford Fiesta ST?
We don't get this car here.
Astra Enjoy VS Golf Comfortline next?
After finding out the cost of Opel spares, I'd much rather have the Polo
Are they that expensive?
Leonhardt Kamari No.
Abarth is better on power and flair. Always puts a smile on my face.
Nice car! Still laughing about the heated seats, necessary in South Africa?🙈😂
Bethlehem - 14 degrees Celsius
Looks nice but the power figures are disappointing, its like a 118i BMW🤔
go get a low km astra opc this is a waste of time.
Amen,give this man an award🙌🏿
Just get the OPC Version of this^^
I got one and its absolutely great!
CAA number plate looks strange.
Gee thanks Opel, OPC body, OPC price, except no 151kW OPC engine, same old tired 110kW turbo. Rip off
Definitely agree

Corsa VXR is still better looking with the twin exhaust
Corsa vxr looks like a chavs car that crashed into halfords modified parts department
Opel has OPC. Vauxhall has VXR. It's the exact same car with a different badge. Sort of like Honda and Acura.

Just opel failing the big name GSI
A bit better then McLaren 720 😄
Vauxhall/Opel are now owned by PSA so they are starting to get too French for me.
So late so middling so expensive
