We take a brief look at the wonderful Fujinon 90mm f/2 lens. How dos it perform in the real-world? Is it a good alternative to the Fujifilm Xf 50-140mm f/2.8?
I sold my 90mm 3 days ago, but my buyer brought it back saying when he moved the spot focus to areas other than center, he got out of focus shots. Face/eye detection off, etc. I now have the lens, testing it with the spot focus dead center, first setting it to manual, defocussing and then flipping it to S and letting the lens change focus, and got fine results. My top dial is in S mode. No issues with ibis, tripod, etc. But moving the spot focus to upper left and using the same technique, I got poor focus. Face Eye detect off, boost mode on, etc., etc. Any ideas?
Hi John, I'm really glad you're back! I've missed your sensible advice. Meanwhile I've had a really bad case of G.A.S. But I did manage to wait till the X-T3 came out which I couldn't resist. Yeah this lens has been on my list for a while. and at the moment there's some very attractive sales on Fuji Lenses... Look out dear pocketbook. Looking forward to more videos from you!
Hey John, welcome back. I was wondering what happened to you. I've kept going back to your channel, looking for recent content uploads. You've been missed. I still can't thank you enough for your post on the XF 18mm f2.0. I bought a used copy based upon your review... And have grown to love this little lens.
Used photo pro is a great place to sell your unwanted gear too. They have a fair rating schedule and pay cash. They are part of Roberts Camera in downtown Indianapolis!
Hi Dean, Yes. I would love to try the 200mm f/2 out. I've reached out to some folsk to see if I can borrow for a review, but nothing back yet. It is crazy expensive and honetly, would be hard to justify purchasing it, at least for me. I shoot a fair amount of sports, but truth be told, shooting sports does not pay well, reagrdless of what level. Not a very good return on investment in my case. That said, I'd love to see what it can do!
Welcome back John! I am pleased your back at it. Have you done any portrait work with the 90? I was debating between the 90 and 56 and opted for the 56. I wanted the low light gathering ability. I do have the 90 on my short list though.
Mark Eggers Hi Mark. I haven’t done any formal stuff yet but will be on Friday. I’m curious to see the results although I know it’s going to be amazing. And the 56 is a great lens, I just needed the extra reach of the 90 for what I do.
@@wondersandwilderness I am sure the 90 will end up in my bag in the future. If you get a chance to share some portraits done with your 90 I would love to see them.
me too. I'm torn between these two lenses and this weekend i have to choose. Right now my heart goes to 56 but when watch some videos regarding the 90mm my decision is kinda changing.. what made you decide to go to 56? how is the lens ao far? thank you...
Excellent, mate. Seen most reviews, and you sold me with your honesty. Thanks, mate.

Hey man! I'm glad you're back! I missed your videos
Thanks Douglas! Feels great to be back. I appreciate you. Let me know what kinda content you’d like to see on this channel.
The 90mm fly on my xpro-2 and on xt-3 is absolute beast , just as 50-140.The later one is a bit faster on XT-3 than Canikon counter parts.
What lens would you suggest for family portraits? I’m looking for a fast autofocus and good background blur. Thank you so much!

For sports what about the 200mm? Will you review it? It is super expensive . Love the music

@@markeggers3416 i also have the same dilemma like you. 90mm or 56mm. Better reach or better light. >__

This lens focuses faster than the 50-140mm. So you may not be happy with the zooms results
Maybe you damaged it when you dropped it.Its a super fast focusing lens.
Martin Smyth maybe you’re right! Ugh. It is snappy to acquire focus I’ve just had some issues tracking or requiring focus
It’s actually 1,000 😞
