It is a super comfortable helmet. Feels sturdy and provides good protection. I have just replaced my Airoh Commander with this helmet and it trumps the Airoh in comfort/visor/easy to clean/disassembling.

I myself own the original Spartan Karken which is my daily street use helmet. It's been super comfortable and I've been satisfied with how quite its been. As I wear glasses, this helmet makes it very easy to put them on and it doesn't squeeze the arms into your temples. My only gripe I have which is my fault for not learning enough about helmets is this one tends to have better view for someone not riding a sport bike, say while in a tuck you may have to tilt your neck up very little to get the best view. But on the street, this is an excellent helmet at a very decent price point. Thanks for sharing Brian 👍

I'm an 03 Mille 1000 rider and have an old Pro Race R which I need to replace.
Spartan look a bit tourer oriented. I'll have difficulty looking up and out of it I think.

I got a Spartan Carbon over 3 years ago, and recently just get another new one. Fit my head in comfort way and the sun visor is great.

The difference between Spartan and Spartan 1.2 is the liner.Old spartan has blue liner and 1.2 has upgraded black liner.
I have had both.
The Spartan is overall a great helmet, a little noisy though.
Great ventilation,great sunvisor system and good looking graphics too.
Visor is a bit hit or miss as it could break easily on the thinnest part of the mechanism if you remove it carelessly.

I use the Race R Pro on the track, love it. and i have the Spartan for street, equally awesome. Love all the features. It's a relatively quiet helmet which vents very well too.

I'm pretty satisfied with this one like 4/5.
It could be a bit more quiet tho.
However for money range u get best quality possible.

Nice description of the specs. We i seach for reviews i look more for something that i can´t see in the shop... how it performs on the street, on the bike, ridden in it... that is always my question about one helmet after try it on the shop. Tks
The bench marking on the sizing is super relevant given the amount of helmets I own and have ridden in. If you want ride reviews we have them but only for the helmets I ride with on the track. - Van
Had to send my Race R pro back as I didnt realise it didnt have emergency release cheekpads which are a deal-breaker for me atleast having come off on the stree so many times- however for reference m the same headsize as Van and I can get into a small and its veryyy comfy

mine is 1.0 i guess. the gloss lacquer are cracked from the edge of sun visor slide bar upper head. the edge of mouth ventilation came out abit. i don't know if there was too much sun on the helmet or the humid of my country Thailand where they made the helmets. i bought new pair of cheek pads for they were as tight as they were. The helmet is 3years old. the visor is cracked from the pinlock dots. the visor leg also broken because i put it wrong way. now i consider to change the visor or buy a new lower range helmet. the visor alone is retail price about 65-70usd. 2000-2200THB. i would be super soft to touch it if i knew its price tag!

I removed the plastic covers on the side of the helmet and I can’t put them back… There’s 3 plastic pins that goes into holes but the problem is to get the third one in, I don’t get it.

which one to choose b/w spartan carb 1.2 vs race r-pro , both of them fits perfectly. I use glasses and usually lot of fog forms on visor when i stop for few sec at junctions on my previous helmet.
If you are having a fog issue I would suggest getting a helmet with a Pin Lock lens. Shoei supplies a lens with their RF-1400 and X-14 helmets. This makes all the difference in the world, no fog. - Van

I have the Spartan Carbon, same as this but even lighter. The helmet is very comfortable and has great aerodynamics. Riding a Triumph Street Triple and even at high speeds the stability of the helmet is just great! Before that I had a Shark Speed R which was also good but not at this level.

Only way im stepping out of my x14 is to try a bell race star. Nice video though.
This helmet is for sure no X-14. If you want a Shark that compares to the X-14 that would be the Shark Race R Pro. - Van
Just ditched my X14 for this helmet, so far I wouldn't go back for the money. Had the MMX14 and it was always a dissapointment to be honest. Loving this new lid 100% more, not only quieter but so much more comfortable and just as stable at speed.
whats the difference between the 1.2 and the original spartan?

it is possible to install intercom on shark racer r pro? I can see visor black is very heavy dark, what about iridium visor gold or blue are still very dark?
Yes the Race R Pro has pockets for the speakers if you want to install a bluetooth. IMO the iridium shields are pretty dark like the dark smoke. - Van
Is the headshape round like the old Spartan?

I would say the shape is intermediate oval leaning a little to round. Not a full round oval IMO. - Van

Apologies if I missed it but what's the difference between the Spartan and Spartan 1.2? I apparently have the original Spartan based on the sku # shown on revzillas website. But it looks identical to the 1.2.....

How do I know for sure mine is a 1.2 ?
I mean, it says 1.2 on my receipt, but there's no 1.2 indication
on neither the box or the helmet. I don't see any indication of 1.2
on the helmet in this review either. Why would they leave out a detail like that?

Man the black/anthracite is looking awesome but the shark logo ruins it all.. So much that I dont want it.

Van, love your reviews but i can't stop noticing a few issues in this one.
1. The product placement of the Monster Energy Drink, i mean, come on man!
2. The fact that you did not openly discussed the release system which is pretty bad compared to the competition (you even screwed it up and said to cut that out! 😂)
3. The lack of quick release tabs for the cheek pads in case of an emergency! Every helmet should have those as standard.
4. The foldable chin pad, that thing looks flimsy.

1. I drink 2 Monsters a day. You can take the tin foil off your head because I pay for all of them.
2. So I bobbled the helmet shield change. If you think you could shoot all of these in one take go buy a camera.
3. Since they have been introduced I do not remember seeing the emergency release cheek pads ever used.
4. I showed you the chin pad, up to you to decide how you feel about it.

Van, i appreciate your reply and i did not mean to rile you up!
The comment about you cocking that up was that no where in this review did you talk negatively about the shield mechanism even though it is a pretty dumb system of changing shields, and you yourself witnessed it.
2. I was trying to see if you said something negatively at all about the helmet, and you def. didn't, which is weird for a review!
I appreciate your reviews, in fact i am pretty sure you saved me a broken hand when i wanted to buy the GP Tech gloves but settled for the cheaper gp pro because of your explanation and review! Of course when i went down the first thing that hit the pavement was my palm, luckily the gp pro had the plastic slider!
So please take a negative feedback not as a Fox News intern, but as something you can learn from!

For helmets I have not ridden in we can focus on the fit, specs for the helmet, shield changes and more. Over the past 15 years I have owned and ridden in around 75 different helmet models as well as review hundreds. Fair to say I have enough experience. - Van
