Fami’s thick chunky bass tone cuts through everything and really adds depth and texture to the band’s live sound and her stage presence has really come on in leaps and bound (and jumps) since the first Knocking at Heaven’s Gate performance eighteen months ago. She exudes such joy at being on stage and given her interactions with the other band members on stage there is obviously great chemistry between them. She has a low power stance, headbangs with the best of them, sings her heart out in the gang vocals, mouths the words of some songs, has great interaction with the crowd encouraging them with hand gestures and throwing horns and thumbs up regularly. She is young, energetic and very talented and don’t forget that she joined the band aged just twenty, never having played in a real band or in front of a live audience of any size or played any metal music. At the same age Midori was just beginning to learn to play the guitar and Mikayo had only been at it for a year or so. There is an age gap of between twelve to fourteen years between her and the other members (Generation X to Generation Z) but she is on an equal level musically with them all and performing as if she has been at it for ten years or more.

I couldn't agree more, but as I was among the fortunate few having such a golden ticket I was glad being able to see them this up close! You know this will never happen again the next time around, and no chance of this close interaction in their home town Japan. They could've easily sold out the Great American Music Hall as a next size step-up S.F. venue (almost 500 vs. just over 300+ at this venue). Perhaps it was just an experiment to try, this being their first time passing through the U.S. Or it could've just been limited venue availability based on the time window they planned. But I'm not complaining since I got to experience it, and coupled with the meet-and-greet + photo opportunity this was one of the best shows of a Japanese rock-metal band I've ever witnessed (as much as I enjoyed previously seeing X Japan, NEMOPHILA, and Marty Friedman with his Japanese band). My only regret was not getting in line earlier because I wanted that front row. If you see the guy at the very front of stage with the Band-Maid cap he was among a group that got in line at 4:30AM to make sure they secured the best spot.
