You can get up if you want to," Baroness singer-guitarist John Dyer Baizley says of the universal message he hopes his band can spread since returning to the stage after the horrible bus accident in 2012 that left band members with serious injuries. In Episode 3 of "Flex Your Head" - Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach's interview series with Revolver - the two vocalists discuss overcoming tragedy, Baizley's passion for visual art as well as music, and how Baroness evolves "outwards like from a radial point, rather than forward."

Sad this series didn't continue, Jesse is a really enjoyable Interviewer.

What a humble dude. This interview sucked me in, such a wealth of positivity and insight. Regarding John's voice, I can absolutely vouch for his ability to evoke emotion... listening to Eula on Yellow makes me just feel heartache. Of course I contribute it to the instrumentation as well, that broken ringy distortion on the guitar lead... yeah.
I've been enjoying these interviews. So far I've just watched this and the Keith Buckley one, but I'll definitely be checking back in regularly. I like Jesse's laid back and humble style.

Y'all slowly restoring my faith in Revolver. The magazine was my happy place whilst my mother got groceries and became a bridge to a beautiful realm. Haven't picked up a magazine in damn near ten years but maybe I'll renew my subscription finally.

In grade 1 our school did end of year games type thing and one waa musical chairs, this grade 8 kid used nirvanas smells like teen spirit and it was how you say love at first listen, since then its been a journey of metal.

John speaks about music like an artist is because... well for one he attended two of the top art schools in the country (RISD and SCAD) and he's a very very good practicing visual artist as well. He also developed the first few album covers before any of the music got written lol.

Baroness is basically a one-man-band, John is the driving force. They have a killer rhythm section right now, though. Too bad about the production on Purple and Gold & Grey.
