My Best Indian Mango of 2022?

- Disclaimer:
We feel like sharing the same disclaimer because we still see people arguing about taste. Like many things in life that cannot be ever measured in a lab, taste is one of them. It is purely a subjective experience involving one's conditionings. Exposure to certain types of foods during our childhood days, cultural specifics, special liking of other types of fruit or candies and finding hints of them in mangoes play very heavy on the type of mangoes one likes or dislikes.
Also, the same mango variety grown in different parts of Florida (or the world) will taste different depending on changes in microclimate, annual rainfall, soil health, soil mineral and salt content, fertigation regimen (irrigation+fertilization), etc. so blanket statements about a certain variety's taste aren't welcome. Lastly, mango picked early / not fully mature vs picked at the peak maturity changes how they ripen off of tree; often mangoes picked green, hard & immature eventually change color and look nice but will not get optimal sweetness (brix) or the complexity of flavor that makes mango such a unique and tasty fruit.
Please don’t make assumptions about a variety based on your tasting of a mediocre tasting fruit! Try fruit from different places, different microclimates at different stages of ripeness.

I just got 3 trees yesterday from Florida. Coconut Cream, Sugarloaf, and Son Pari. I’m in Southern California inland. Just from this video you convinced me. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Thanks for the video. Nice looking mango.
Probably your best reaction yet. If have to look into this.
I am from West Bengal, India. I have Mallika, Sonpari & Neelam.
Great testing video.Loved your wonderful detail testing flavors 😊I have a question for you, were you able to get Indian Himsagar sions ? I bought one Himsagar from Plantogram nursery,It is the one from usda collection variety. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for continuing support! 🙏 always nice to see your comments ☺️
unfortunately i haven’t been able to get the true one.
I have ten Sonpari mango trees. It is ripe naturally, very nice aroma and taste. Its keepig quality is also good and size of fruit also good. No fiber mango. I am planting further more Sonpari mango trees.I am from Village Awakhal, Tehsil, Shinor, Dist: Vadodara, Gujarat state, India.
Thanks for sharing!
Solid in pulp and breaks into juice in the mouth and similar colour/size, Mankurads are like how you described except they are Sweet in taste, available in April/may. Also try Hilario (manghilar) available May/June, they are sweeter, but are only limited to Goa.
Hope one day i travel there and try it !
Hi Osho, what are you in, maybe I get one from you?. Ilive in Southern California, thanks.
I try not to ship trees in Summer, they can suffer a lot due to the heat if there is any delay, by the time they reach CA
Sonpari vs ratna vs arka Aruna ..
Arka Aruna also same hybrids like sonpari .. it's a dwarf variety ..
Is sonpori a dwarf variety?
Is this decease resistance
Sonpari is not dwarf, but has fairly ok disease resistance. Whats important is that it flowers even during warm winters in south Florida whereas many FL varieties don’t flower in warm winter years. I will try to taste Arka aruna next time i travel to India
I have son pari in ground for 2 years. It’s 6 feet tall now and 4 feet wide. The tree flowers every year, but doesn’t hold any fruit compared with the other trees I have.
Ours was a scion from Tropical Acres, grafted April 10, 2020. Flowered and held fruit in 2021 and 2022. The first year fruits had bad taste and flesh deformity due to deficiency. This is the 2nd year fruiting. We have a lot of pollinators in the garden, esp the day blooming jasmine behind it constantly has a fog of butterflies and bees. Hope you get fruits next year.
Thats a very good mengo and most demanding in gujrat
Is Alampur Baneshan (imam pasand) dwarf ? Which is the tastiest,, in your opinion, among alampur, sonpari, bombay?
No, Alampur baneshan has long internodes and grows vertically up so i would not classify it as suitable for high density planting(dwarf). It does not give many flushes so it does grow slow if not irrigated daily. Ours is dependent on rainfall and it has grown slowly but grown vertically up.
In my experience Bombay tasted best out if the three but i haven’t tasted all three at the same time so it is hard to tell.
@@growpuravida Some nurseries specify it as "Dwarf" which is misleading... Also some nurseries have both Imam Pasand and Alampur Baneshan on their list. As far as I know, there is only Imam Pasand in US. Which one should I buy? Imam Pasand is the one with white flesh and very complex taste, right? Or not..?!
Curious of how that mango taste as we don't have that mango in my country can I buy a seed from you?
Sorry not selling
Do you sell Sonpari scions?
The tree is not ready, still holding fruit. Will have some scions later in the season, hit me up in a couple of months.

Scions means ?
Means the budwood for grafting- from mother tree
Piece of the tree to graft onto another tree
Why do you cut the top off instead of just cutting right beside the stem? Seems a little wasteful.
Because that area by the stem has the most turpines and can cause allergies. Also, it tastes more intense/like pine due to turpentine concentration by the stem.
