I suspect he fell out of love with the game at some point. The intense training sessions, media attention, etc, took the fun out of the game for him. The game became a job for him, not the thing he grew up loving to do.

    1. Overwhelmed by brittish media for his high profiling. Did not manage well the talent hype. When the hype gone, talent gone as well. Pretty common for some english talents without proper attitude and mentorship (Kane might be captain but not a mentor)
    2. Injury and losing confident under pressure, age, club, nation that follows
    3. Spurs supposed to be the boyhood club but they did not go far fighting for top positions nor dropped bad, or even championship. Tough time built tough men, instead he checked in n out like 9-5 office in Spur, that ruined his growth

    It's simple: mentality.
The absolute top players have the mentality to keep winning even after they won everything and made all the money in the world.
While players like Dele Alli fall off after collecting a few million. They secured their future and lost the passion to keep getting better. While some of the absolute top players keep having that hunger within them.

What happened to delli Alli? The British media happened to him. Just as the media happened to Barkley, welbeck, Sturbridge and so much more, just as it's gonna happened unfortunately to foden, sancho and so many more to come. The British media overrate English players and put them on a level they aren't even close and they end up not getting anywhere close to that level.
Look at Kane, prolific striker no doubt but definitely over rated. His rate is high though but the British media over rate it even further. He's got nothing to show for his "prolificacy".

  • @BourneIdentity45

I think the issue here is, you take someone who had to work for everything in his life, was adopted essentially by his current family, played at MK done didn’t have a crazy contract like most youngsters at premier league contracts who haven’t proved themselves yet, got the move to a premier league club and again had to prove himself there, did within a couple seasons, got England calls ups even got linked with Real Madrid in the lead up to a champions league fixture with them but sometimes I think they may do that to try out pressure on players they know are good for example when they did the same thing with sterling a couple seasons ago but nothing ever amounted after the supposed interest. Then when things started getting rough for him form wise poch never really took him out he just kept playing him never got bad habits out of him whether it be his training and match preparation. Then when Jose came in people realised how bad it was behind the scenes but Jose did give him a bit of a bump but after a couple games that form left. At the end of the day it’s about motivation, if a player can motivate themselves to want it. When they are living comfortably what motivates them to want more than just a comfortable lifestyle. And in my opinion once Dele started getting comfortable his form started to slip, he started to believe all the things that were being said about him and stopped working to get to the next level of his best seasons at spurs. It’s a mixture between how spurs managed him (before Mourinho) and how the press also talked about him because he still has the ability that never really goes it’s just the mentality that’s gone, there’s nothing pushing him to be better than what he is. I think Kane also wanted to leave because of that mentality at Spurs he wasn’t just content doing the same thing every season at spurs and wanted to actually go out and win something

I am a Besiktas fan yes the rumors are true. Our manager has changed and our midfield is too stacked. Dele doesn’t provide anything special to us we have another ex Spurs player Gedson and he has done much better job so far. We are gonna buy a new striker in the coming days and to compensate for that money we sadly have to ship Alli back. Alli would have been a game changer for us but it didn’t work and Turkish league is one of the most corrupt leagues in the world, you cannot suddenly change your career here. You either there for money or retiring a player like Alli should never come to Turkish league it was a great surprise for him to come but no one questioned how useful he would be to us and the answer is obvious now.

so many things were not right about this video.
yes dele Alli was a phenomenon. he had better stats than scholes and Gerard for his age. He really fit well into pochettinos system of which he played mainly as a second striker. He didn't have phenomenal pace nor creativity but what he had was a finish on him and the ability to pop up in the box at the right time.
To the end of pochettinos reign he had injury problems and furthermore spurs switched to a 4-3-3 when lo celso and ndombele came in. Alli was not suited to a midfield role of which he got pushed out onto the wing. as a wing forward he was ok but lost that threat of popping up on the box. Eventually he lost his starting place as there were players with more pace and more of a threat on the wing like moura and son.
under mourinho, he continued with a 4-3-3 formation of which Jose actually played him in a cam role. mourinho gave him a chance. he was sublime the first 5 games then his form slowly deteriorated. mourinho tried to talk to him but he seemed in concerned. he was more interested in fancy cars, flashy haircuts, blogging, and designer outfits. Alli lost his starting place as moura was playing very well under jose and kane and son were in the form of their life. Jose wasn't a player to rotate often. allis form got worse as every season that went by as he got rusty without regular team football.
Nuno then came in and played him in a centre midfield role of which he didn't have the work rate, defensive skill nor creativity to thrive in that role. he was completely out of position and lost interest.
he was then signed permanently for Everton... not a loan on a free. the terms of his contract stated that they would have to pay 10 million staggered payments based on his appearances. Everton played him in a few games of which he had been likened to lampard but he was average. they then didn't start him because this would trigger the clause where they would have to pay £10 million. coincidentally Alli played very well in Everton's last few games of which he helped them stay up. him and richarlison were both the best players in the team of which he had just started to be given a chance and find form, but ultimately they got rid of him for financial reasons.
overall the main drop of his performance is most probably because football has changed and many teams no longer play a 4-2-3-1 of which his playing style is accustomed to a second striker role. in a 4-3-3 formation he just isn't suited to any position with his lack of pace in the front 3 line and lack of work ethic in a 3 man midfield. that in addition to bad attitude.
