I watched tonali (who played the full 90 mins) in both Italy games, a few thoughts. -he seemed to play on the left side of the midfield in an attacking box to box role. This was more apparent in the second game where he was often the most advanced midfielder behind the forwards. - he’s a good runner with a fast sprint speed. Faster than longstaff I’d say. - he hit a number of nice longer range switches and his short range passing is (much) better than longstaffs. -he scored a goal but was marginally offside. Crashed the box quite often but was unlucky that the ball tended not to reach him. - he’s tenacious but not a particularly effective tackler (similar to longstaff) - he’s comfortable receiving the ball and moving it under pressure, but he does tend to favour first time passes.
@@MrAlexbanks22 what I would say is - in my opinion - he’s definitely not suited to being a defensive midfielder (ie replacing Bruno as the deep midfielder in a three). I think he replaces longstaff in RCM unless they change formation. I’d also say it may be a bit unusual for his teammates who tend to want to hold onto the ball and beat opponents individually to “beat the press” (Bruno and joelinton both try to do this and sometimes get caught out). Tonali won’t do that, he wants to “give and go” in passing triangles a bit like Barnes.
Longstaff is a gr8 sub to bring on to shore up if and when the 3 starters run oot of steam imo NOT to start. Bruno, Big Joe and Sandro T 💯 to start🎉same goes for Tripps, gr8 sub but Tino has to start, he is the future of NUFC
The media started it, and the desperate YT jump on any bandwagon that gets them engagement. Independent media has zero value if they just follow the narrative.
But I do think there is a coldness about Eddie Howe, almost emotionless. I’m sure he is a great coach though, working with players day to day. Hope it works out for Howe and Mitchell.
Problems , this is life, the issues are all government problems, excuses again as if these clowns didn't know what was there, they've had over a decade to prepare solutions . Stupid government on a groundhog day. this country never ceases to disappoint its public.... they all criticise areas but do nothing and then rinse / repeat (taking more from the public) . Pathetic
Also, are Newcastle the first team in the PL to have 2nd and 3rd keepers who are first choice internationals in decent European teams, behind a goalkeeper who isn’t?
Won't be too wound up if we see Murphy and Longstaff in the starting line-up fow Wolves, they have had 2 weeks to prepare vs the 4 days Gordon and Tonali will have. Bring G&T back in for Fulham, let the squad players handle Wimbledon and we'll be 100% for Man City.
Well no Minteh and poor Elliott Anderson must be gutted. Then no Incoming transfers to take us forward. So backwards with the team and momentum lost with the fans. Eales Out.
I know he’s a fan, but Anderson is now a first team player at forest and likely on significantly more money. Not sure if he’s gutted, as he would have been well down the pecking order at NUFC. Got back into the England U21s as well so he must be doing something right.
Great pod and discussion guys. I do think we should let go of the Ashley era now... However I just think alot of people still have the tainted glasses they used back then and use them now and we're in a much better place than back then. I am ultimately grateful for where we are now and no matter what happened the first season, last season or this season... I will be happy regardless. Call that a happy clapper if you will but I just think looking at our current situation with such scrutiny is very hypocritical and our fan base will be judged on those actions. Not that it matters what other fans or clubs think but come on... They're winging that we haven't signed a marquee player in the first summer window that we haven't... We've spent like over 250 mil in 3 years so there surely has to be a balance of wanting the best for our club and being grateful for what we have. We got champions league with a much lesser squad than what we have now. Up EHs magsss ◼️◻️🙌
Excellent pod Andrew & Simon 👏
Liveamento is the future thanks and all the best Trippier

Good comment! Where would u play tonali?
Just interested. I asked andrew that question about position so just wondering what people think

You definitely give Longstaff a new contract, even if you intend to sell him next summer. No way we let him leave on a free.

Lets be fair. The club Eddie and Mitchell have never said there is any drama. Its has all come from media and yt creators.

I think it'll be tonali AND Longstaff. Bruno is the last to return and hasn't had a break since season start.
Mr Bird ...what ! did not you watch Tonali in the italy games ....you are talking rubbish
sorry , turned off after 10 minutes ,,Bird is a fool .
Trying to compare Longstaff amd Tonali 😂, there's no fans who want Longstaff over Tonali.

Bruno having a mare for Brazil and was dreadful against Spurs. Tonali has to start against Wolves.
