    The music is so loud it drowns the speaker. You don’t need the dark fearful music. The story is dark and fearful enough.

      Yes, you are right, but even though we complain, they continue making the music too loud. A workaround is to turn on the captions in each individual video. Those captions go by phonetic sounds of the words, so you'll see some interesting typos, but it's better than nothing. .

  • @magellanican
    @magellanican 3 роки тому +41

    This is a very interesting documentary, but in many parts of it the soundtrack has been mixed in such a way that the 'background' music completely drowns out the voice of the commentator, and what he is saying cannot be understood. I suggest that the conductors of this channel withdraw the documentary temporarily and re-edit the soundtrack so as to reduce the volume of the background music in the relevant places. I'm assuming that this would be possible, though I personally have had very little experience of audio editing.

    • @ferociousgumby
      @ferociousgumby 3 роки тому +4

      All these documentaries have the same problem. It is ubiquitous on UA-cam, and no one ever does anything about it. I cannot believe you can't control the volume and the ratio of narration to "background music" which is overdramatic, too dark, and just not even necessary at all.

      @@ferociousgumby This technique, albeit an unpleasant one, is usually employed in an effort to avoid copyright infringement problems. It is apparently effective to that end, hence the frequency with which it is encountered on UA-cam.

    I kind of agree that he probably saved some art. I don't have to think hard about how I would have behaved under those circumstances but ,if possible, it should be returned to the rightful owners. It's an amazing story in art history that should be explored more fully. Well done. Thanks ...

    26:22 That is a very good point. I doubt that the very first time Cornelius sold a painting was when he was a senior citizen. He must have sold painting throughout his life, it was just the first time the police thought to fully search out names like his fathers. Is there any art that was at the Degenerate Art show, that was not in the last Cornelius art show? Were any of those works of art get sold at auction in the years between 1956 and 2012.

    Quite a misleading title, should be called "Cornelius Gurlitt's Private Museum". They tease a few times that the father of Cornelius, Hildebrand, was SUPPOSED to be buying art for Hitler's collection but spend the first 30 minutes talking about Hildebrand's hidden degenerate art collection. Then around the 30 minute mark they spend about 5 minutes talking about the Führermuseum, mentioning the couple of Vermeers that were acquired for it, and one of the guys being interviewed speculates that there MIGHT have been a Caspar David Friedrichs but he's unsure. Then after that brief chat about the titular subject they continue to discuss the Gurlitt collection. So TLDR: anyone who actually wanted to know more about the Führermuseum, this video's not what you're looking for.
