    Excellent find. Enough for two separate layouts. Like the term batsman!

    Still got my football and cricket sets from 1959!!

      That’s brilliant, might be worth a bit of money with the prices of Subbuteo stuff at the moment. It’s great you still have them, mine disappeared from when I had my first sets in the 70’s. Absolutely no idea what we did with them!

    I played for hours with my Subbuteo Cricket, developing a great system for solo play to bat and bowl myself. Still have most of the set. Only missing the stumps and bails.

      I used to play when I was a kid but similar to the football playing on a carpet made it a bit more difficult. I’m also going to use some of the house rules I remember using back then that make more sense to me than a couple of the rules in the leaflet.

      Ulli one of my favourite international kits, Toffs are a vintage replica kit manufacturer and they do loads of brilliant international and club kits.

    hi could you give a demo on how you stump the batmans out and how to do a run out?

    • @SubbuteoFocus
      @SubbuteoFocus  Рік тому

      Hi Dave in my next cricket video there are two run out attempts that you’ll see. Stumping’s are very rare, but again in the next video you’ll see the wicket keeper up at the stumps for the spin bowlers. A stumping would take place if the ball hit the wicket keeper, rebounding onto the stumps and removing the bails. If I have a stumping happen I’ll video it for you to see. Hope that helps, Cheers Dean.

    A bit of Subbuteo Cricket! A very good game to play, I'll be putting up some Cricket match action in the near future.

    Where can I find the old sets ?

    • @SubbuteoFocus
      @SubbuteoFocus  2 роки тому +1

      EBay is the first place to look, loads of stuff on there and at various prices. Some stuff appears expensive others not so. But you can buy the old box sets there. Other than the amount I payed for this job lot you could get a box set for under £40.

    I had to iron the pitch !

    • @SubbuteoFocus
      @SubbuteoFocus  2 роки тому +1

      Yes I used to get my mom to do it then lay it on the carpet! Much better now I have a table to play on, easier on the back!

      @@SubbuteoFocus Ok I am looking to restart my Subb. Careeer ! I am looking at getting a table and some MDF table. Please can you tell me what size is the Pitch ? And what is the best pitch to buy first

    • @SubbuteoFocus
      @SubbuteoFocus  2 роки тому

      @@paultiplady are you looking to restart both footy and Cricket? I share my board with both. I can give you the dimensions of both. The Cricket pitch I have is a bit smaller than my football ball. So I could give you the larger measurements to cover both options.

    £45, absolute bargain Dean - you've got a boat load of stuff there.
    I don't think it's as collectable as the football, bacause there really isn't much of a "teams" thing going on.

    • @SubbuteoFocus
      @SubbuteoFocus  2 роки тому +1

      There was a load of stuff so I’ve managed to create a couple of test teams from the bits and pieces. You’re right about the teams but I’m a member of the Facebook group Subbuteo Cricket revival and a couple of the guys on there have painted different teams which look great. So similar to the football if you have a bit of creative talent you can put together a few teams. It is a very enjoyable game to play, especially when you get a catch or send the wickets tumbling.

    • @soitra
      @soitra 2 роки тому +1

      @@SubbuteoFocus I've got the Test Match Edition, albeit without the box now. I think the bails are also missing. But yes, a mate and I used to have hours of fun with it. I'll be interested to see how you manage batting and bowling at the same time (I assume you'll be playing solo games)

    • @SubbuteoFocus
      @SubbuteoFocus  2 роки тому +1

      @@soitra I have had a few bowls with my Son and it was funny, my bowling was ok 😊. But he’s in his 20’s so his interest didn’t last long! I’ve already done a practice game and it does work really well solo. You don’t know where the balls going to end up and you have little time to react so you have to anticipate with your bat. Might sharpen up my reflexes playing the game!

      @soitra 2 роки тому

      @@SubbuteoFocus Ah ok, sounds good. Are you going to get into putiing some highlights up on You Tube, or is it just a potential sideline at the moment?

    • @SubbuteoFocus
      @SubbuteoFocus  2 роки тому

      @@soitra yes I plan on trying to do a mini cricket round robin with England, West Indies, Australia and New Zealand. It’s fitting it in with my football and the time to do it.

    God I wish I had my sets now 🥲

    • @SubbuteoFocus
      @SubbuteoFocus  2 роки тому

      I wish I’d kept mine but don’t know what I did with them. So I’ve ended up buying the bits and pieces for a second time. A bit more expensive this time around!
