This might be a little cheesy, but I got a kick out of the kids' interpretation of King's song and, despite it not being “dancing” (which is kinda my thing in case you haven’t noticed), I hope you did too. Despite King’s sordid past, I really love this song...whatever it means.
"Everyone's Gone To The Moon" is still very new today as it just entered the Billboard Hot 100 last week at #79 and will peak at #17 next month.
The Action Kids couples: Steve Ciro & Jerilyn Stapleton (taking a picture), Roger Minami & Lesley Evans, Mike Williams & Roberta Tennes (lying down) and Pete Menafee & Jill Gordon (with the rose)
Joy Ciro (unbelievably) is on her own. Not for nothing, but aren’t the Action girls particularly lovely here.
In 3 years, 9 months and 13 days Apollo 11 will have "gone to the moon". “EGTTM”, was one of the few songs they brought with them to listen to on the trip on an early cassette tape. I'd like to imagine Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins sitting in the capsule and listening to this song as they looked out at the distant, bright, blue earth.

Thank you for watching!

Remembering those years. 😂
Aaron what you are doing is such a true gift for every generation . This is music of my childhood. Beautiful choice for what has been a chaotic time for too many here on Earth.
Good song. Times have changed so much :-(
The quality of these “Action” episodes is breathtaking. I’ve never seen better anywhere!
Thank you for your posts!
So appreciative!
Thanks Aaron for the memories. I Always LOVED this song. I can relate to the girl with the hat MANY times 🥺😞
I was 10 years old when this song came out
@@horseyhorselips3501 I was 6 and in 1st grade but I remember it well.
I always thought this was a rather strange song for the Action Kids BUT...it works!! I was in 4th grade (9 years old) when this song came out and I love it now as much as I did then....I crank up the volume every time I hear it and dream away.........THANKS, ARON!
Looks like I was a year behind you in 3rd grade.
Those were the best music and best days..
This song has a sound that brings to my mind "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying" by Gerry &The Pacemakers. And yes the ladies are lovely indeed.
Beginning sounds a bit like The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot, then becomes like Don't Let the Sun as you said.
No,friggin tatooses ,vulgar,t put those on a woman’s body,I can live with the guys, but please no nose rings on anyone, earrings on guys, man I am old!The DI in boot camp in the 1960 s would of ripped it off your ear!Being manly is not a physical appearance,it’s a frame of mind!
This was unusual segment from WTAI, but the dancers seemed to have fun with the choreography. We hope to see more videos from the vault.
Aaron and Gary, no matter the content of these vintage WTAI, the VTR and preservation is top drawer. Props. By any chance do you guys know what type videotape stock was used-2”, reel, manufacturers? The quality is mesmerizing? Thanks you two.
Hi Don! Great question. I believe it was 2", the same used for Bandstand. Not sure of the manufacturer. Gary would know for sure and can weigh in when he sees this. I agree, the quality blows me away too. It makes such a difference vs. grainy kinescopes.
Quad was the BEST for recording back then 👍🏽
@@YCDTI First instinct tells me Ampex is the manufacturer.
@@annahshoffner1871 thanks Annah. I’ve been reading up on vintage tape stock and quad is frequently referenced.
@@billritter4213 thanks Bill. I’ve been researching vintage tape stock. Good to know!
The music is beautiful thanks
Such a unique song. I've always loved it ever since first hearing it. Ageless.
A gentle classic from Jonathan. Great clip here.
No one is fat!!!!!
The streets full of people, all alone are social media now.
Thanks Aaron for this fantastic time.
IN my opinion Aaron cheesy ha haaa NO way . So glad i grew up in the middle of all kinds of music. I forgot about this crazy song and i always loved it and so did my parents, how's that for laughs . Did great Aaron Thanks for giving your time and glad you enjoyed your own work. Perfect song for me to start out fall with ha haaaaa. VERYCOOL...
I turned 13 that year. Great time to be alive musically.
15 for me
Every time I see these I realize how much fun I missed. Went into the service at 18 1967 and came out a old man. 1970 Vietnam 1967/68/69
A great song!
Hey Aaron… I have a very interesting story to share with you regarding this song. I grew up in the Northeast, born in Bridgeport CT. In 1965 on November 9, the entire Northeast had a massive blackout, it even made the front of Life magazine. And because we were close to NYC and music radio WABC 77, there is a recording of the late great Dan Ingram on that afternoon doing his shift behind the microphone and you can hear the power dwindling as he is playing two records, one of them this one. It’s available on UA-cam you should check it out.
Are they in Malibu? Doesn’t look like Santa Monica
“Cars full of motors painted green”. Written in the mid-sixties.
Try listening to Percy Faiths version of this song, instrumentals only. He kills it!! Its one of my favorite. I like to play them both back to back, this version than his.
Love it.
No one is breaking sweat--They would be in Mississippi!!! Awe it’s California--got it!!!
I love the Action Kids! Thank you for sharing this!
Jonathan King had the original ooga-chaka version of "Hooked On A Feeling". It took me a while for my brain to thaw out to get that dancing reference in the descriptor lol.
I could see the Pet Shop Boys covering this. It's beautiful.
Very good. You do know what became of Jonathan King don’t you?
Yes I remember this song
That show died too soon.
I agree with you! It would have been great if WTAI has continued for another season.
Thanks for the amazing clip Aaron! I have never seen a WTAI clip in such pristine condition before. By the way, do you have anymore WTAI clips from late 1966 through early 1967? Or how about Action clips from 1973?
Unfortunately, right now, I don’t have either of those shows but you never know what might pop up down the road. I’d also love to see some of those very rare Action ‘73 clips.
I’m glad you enjoyed this Stevie G.
@@YCDTI I have some, Aron......(Action '73 clips).
@@YCDTI I wasn't aware that any videotape of Shindig existed! Everything I've seen has been the tape transferred to kinescope. Great find. Was this from someone's private collection? Do more clear videotapes of Shindig exist? Why didn't you just leave the comment section open so some of us could explain the situation to those who were complaining?
@@shave-a-thon3415 it was getting pretty nasty. No worries, but I appreciate the defense.
Yes, there are a few non-kinescoped Shindig! episodes out there. I think there is even one posted on YT. And like I told Stevie G, you (and I) never know what might pop up down the road. 👍
Thank you - for me it was on a Florida Beach - but, I was there ... 'in the middle of June' ...
This looks like it might have been filmed in Malibu, CA??...not sure.
👌👍🥰
The quality of the video is better at 720p than the usual 480p, if this was an experiment to see if it looks better, it worked!
It was and thank you for the feedback.
@@YCDTI Glad to help!
Fantastic!!
Thanks Much !
This song makes more sense for 2024 then the 60s
60s were great
Did you see how big smartphones were back then?
Terrible that King turned into a child predator.
1:18 Hey, Roberta's mine LOL
best time of our lives
Muita Lembraça do Passado Maravilha Parabens Pela Postagen Avare Sp Brazil🎼🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Prazer é meu! 😊
I was only 3 years old then lol
the background video is hit of time : in 1965 , the blonde girl wearing string hat on the beach had ordered for 5 boys to seclude them to the different planet for the safety of planet Earth : 5 of them had began 20 , 30 , 40 , 50 years later 5 wars on this planet with more then 100 million people early deaths, and quadrillion dollars material casualties . Lucky swan from Gliese 3 ekoplanet( he was in visit to planet Earth in background building ) hadn't listen her at all , he will pay huge penalty for leaving those five boys to walk continue on this planet !! 5 boys, five beast of Apocalypse and global warming 70 % higher then if they never existed ! Song beautiful !
Next time Joy will remember to wear deodorant
WOW! LOL. Interesting enough, Joy Ciro left WTAI soon after this song aired, and having married Bobby Hatfield of The Righteous Brothers.
