@@Wilburbruh UA-cam is saturated with content creators desperately trying to be "impactful", "educational" and "delivering hope" but in the end, they just do this because they make money and vision-less viewers make it possible for them not to have to work a day job...
Am I the only one who found this episode particularly moving and challenging? Eric has such a wonderful way of listening and leaving people space to say what they really want to say. For me, this highlighted the things that are so important in life - family and community. When life throws tragedy at you, this is what it all comes down to. The folks in this wonderful episode are so real and every day, they get up and make a real impact on others and with great humility. My heart truly goes out to them and especially the children who have such big challenges to overcome in addition to just growing up. I watched this with my 13yo son and was glad to see it impacted him as well. Makes us both want to be better and to appreciate our lot in life much more.
I can’t watch this episode, since my family has lost so much from the fire, but wanted to thank Erik and the AIG crew for sharing the story of my community to the world. #LAHAINASTRONG
By far, the best work you've done. Your film/documentary experience shows how much you connected with the subject of golf's place is the Hawaiian society. Bravo!
Erik has always come across as someone that wants to listen and hear what others are saying. It’s a rare trait nowadays. A genuine person letting people tell their stories. I will follow you wherever you go, Erik. You’re an incredible human being doing incredible things. Thank you.
I can’t explain exactly why but, this episode had me on the verge of tears most of the time I was watching it. Congratulations on your success, thank you for showcasing this wonderful community. It is clear to understand why Hawaiian royalty chose this place to revere, it’s stunningly beautiful, but truly - it’s the people, the culture, that make it unique in all the world. Ohana indeed! Safe travels, keep up the great work! Mahalo!
Not a religious person, and I didn’t even know what the children were singing at first, but it made me tear up. Just the realization that there are millions of innocent people around the world in the midst of their own tragic situation. From the Ukraine to Gaza to Hawaii, the thought of losing any more of these precious souls is heartbreaking. Thanks for the story Erik. Their strength is something I stand in awe of. ❤
I cried while they sang it also. While I am also not a religious person, the lyrics of this song spoke to me. Not so much in how the lyrics were intended, but for me - these children are saying, "We are going up the mountain together, and we are going to share our story of strength with the world". It fit even more for me as this episode is somewhat about the mountain, and how it holds all these things - golf, water, people, culture, history, and stories. Thanks for watching - E
EAL is brilliant! He makes his films in a way that transport you as if you are right there with him. The fires in Maui were devastating and tragic. Please continue to donate as the rebuilding process will take years. The people of Maui deserve to have their homes back. OHANA!
So good, so much good you bring to people from all walks of life, not just golfers and golf fans. This one should be viewed by more than just the internet. Thank-you
I played at the Ka'anapali Westin Golf course a few months before the terrible fire just a few miles north of Lahaina. When I heard about the devastation I was crying for all the wonderful people I met during my trip and stay in Lahaina. I imagine some of the people I met lost their lives and that is a sad reality. May you all stay blessed and I wish your land, culture and mental states a quick recovery. I also wish the best for Eric and his Crew and thank you for your content!
Beautifully told story! Despite the destruction, disruption, and lives lost from the fires - the Aloha and Ohana of the Hawaii community shines through! Mahalo from a fortunate 30 year Hawaii resident and golfer.
I have to give credit to EAL and whoever else was behind this series. BY FAR my favorite, most entertaining, educational, inspiring and informational golf series about the real things that matter and how golf brings it all together. Just well thought out and with the correct intentions. LOVE IT!
I was in Lahaina during the fires. Myself and my crew lost everything we had on the island... but so many lost so much more. It's hard to appreciate the devastation these fires brought. You did this with respect and sensitivity I haven't seen in many other medias.
Erik and team do such an incredible job of capturing and presenting authentic stories while using golf as the conduit. RGC and the Adventures in Golf series have such a great tone and empathy for the greater purpose used as an analogy for what it is experiencing this experiment called human life. They really make me feel good and hopeful, something that is lacking in so many other ways in media. These should all be nominated for the highest awards in short documentaries.
Beautiful reminder of the lengths people will go to for eachother in times of need. Especially for those children, to keep them together in such a family focused way is an incredible thing to see. Amazing community, you all have done a fantastic job translating their story to a global audience.
Thank you. Im from Lahaina and worked at Kapalua. This took me a while to watch, knowing it would break my heart. You did a great job showing the greatness that is the people of west maui. mahalo.
This 100% deserves more views and shares. Really shows that golf is much bigger than just the game its self. The game of golf can be apart of communities more than just the surface level.
You always do a great job, Eric, but this may be your best work. Great job doing a very complex topic justice, while telling the stories of all those affected. Bravo.
Amazed at how this series AIG lifts so much more than golf and includes an incredible array of important perspectives and insights, feelings and emotions. The positivity and sadness, the showing of power strength and integrity, providing knowledge and education with a good bunch of love, respect, community and culture. It is just amazing and I find this series to be really special. Thank you.
I randomly stumbled on your channel and watched the three episodes on Hawaii. But this third one about Lahaina was very moving and inspiring. I live on O’ahu and it educated me. Thank you Eric for educating and informing the rest of the world what Hawaii is about and the devastating Lahaina story. It was very credible because you sought out comment from pillars of the Maui community like Archie Kalepa, Mark Rolfing and Tonata Lolesio. I’m a new subscriber to your channel only because you are reporting in a way that is accurate, objective, responsible and honest. No BS. Hard to find that nowadays. Mahalo Eric!
Proximity is the key to empathy. So I'm so grateful that you are intentionally putting yourself in proximity of local people and their stories to find empathy for them. The more we distance ourselves from others, the less we can find empathy! So thankful that you are bringing the stories of so many different people and connecting it to the beauty of golf! Well done!
I have been to Hawaii once and have travelled a fair bit and it is the most special place I have ever been. The way you feel when your there is unlike anything else. The spirit and people truly understand what it is to be human
I’ve been a long time fan of this series. I do have to say this one touched me the most. To your staff and everyone involved…thank you. Your message goes further than just golf.
Yes, more AIG! Got started with the Redwoods video and watched every other one. Something about the amazing videography and Erik's human aspect makes this some of the best stuff you'll ever watch.
I was really curious where this could go, but y'all approached this story with empathy and in earnest. Powerful ending with the note on having pride in your story - even if it's marked by tragedy, you're not alone (ohana) and there's hope. Well done!!!!
Amazing and very thoughtful! Appreciate the boots on the ground work and raw genuine connection. Showcasing a lot of qualities that I hope we all resonate with and continue to work toward strengthening 🙏
This series continues to be clearly one of the best on UA-cam, not even just golf. Produced to the absolute highest end and delivering incredible stories with gorgeous cinematography... Perfect
It has been a long time since I watched one of your “Stories”, once again, as always, golf is the catalyst for the broader more human element. Another wonderful insight, thank you.
Oh man. This was the best AIG by far. I had never heard of of the term ‘ohana’ but now I’m glad I have. I got choked up more than once while watching this. So good, fellas. Top notch work. Let’s all keep spreading the ohana.
No one else does it like you. Your gift for taking things deeper and connecting with people on universally relatable levels shines first and foremost, and your love for golf as a lense makes this content truly unique. Thank you for creating and sharing. Beautiful stuff
oh my goodness, this is a truly incredible piece. Erik and the RGC team are an inspiration to many and by far and away the best platform for golf on YT. This video just goes so far beyond the course and the people playing in fire-affected Hawaii but the community that golf can bring together. A classic film that I'll be watching again and again. Thank you.
Thank you for highlighting this. My fiancé and I got engaged there the day before the fires started and were actually at the Ritz Carlton when the fires started. Cannot express how well they handled the situation in light of everything that was happening.
this actually means something, this is the story of the island and its people telling itself. Really good work not getting in the way. beautiful stuff. Im going to look for ways I can help and I hope others of you will too.
Another amazing example of the way this channel shows more heart than any other in the golf world. Wonderful spotlight and tribute on the people working so hard to handle such a tragedy. Also super impressed with the fact that you would even ask, or keep in the edit, a question like the one about how Archie feels about golf with his unique position and the constant discussions about golf’s water usage and those impacts. All respect for addressing the elephant in the room, and it also made me glad to hear he can envision a way for it all to work out in harmony
Unbelievable piece of content! Eric and the whole team are so thoughtful and this is the type of episode that feels even bigger than UA-cam. So good. Shows golf is more than just a piece of land some times. There are ties that bind.
EAL you have been a golf idol to me ever since you came to my hometown course located in Kahuku, Hawaii. you make a Hawaii native like me proud to be where im from and also love golf.
Not a religious person, and I didn’t even know what the children were singing at first, but it made me tear up. This is amazing, well done ! I leave for Maui on Saturday and just spoke with Michael today about a tee time at Kapalua for the first time. Thank you for what you do so well :)
I wish this was eligible for world renowned awards. This is truly one of my favorite series of anything. Ever. Thank you
Totally agree! Was so excited when I saw it was back.
Instead it has less than 1k likes in 20 hours. Such an underrated series. It is unlike any other.

Thank you. The ability to transcend "GOLF" and make it about people and community is your strength. I so appreciate what you do!

You are such an inspiration, I have no doubt you will get back on your feet with your strength and positive outlook

Erik, this is by far your best episode. Very inspirational. For those who visited Maui prior 8/8/23, your last words had even more meaning. Ohana.
This series is incredible. Raising awareness of culture and community around the world. This work transcends golf.

I never wanted to be a host and I don't like being on camera. But if it's to help others tell their stories, that is what fascinates me.

film-making-editing-narrating- absolutely amazing.

Damn got me trying not to cry in the brake room... that was really good. Absolutely love your show.
Yasss. My only complaint about these Adventures in Golf are that they don't happen often enough. You have my dream job sir, keep it up.
Love the show, been watching since you had the Hawaiian print Seamus bag and when you had better fits/style 😂
OG
Unforgettable episode, Erik.
Happy this series is back
So glad your back, was golfing a bunch of honesty box courses in NZ, but back now to catch up...keep given er!
