Big thanks to you and wonderful video. Because of your video I was able to do it for my polo 2021 it was bit difficult as compared since I had to use cutter machine on top of drilling machine but I was able to get the board out of old antenna and successfully installed to the new one and it’s working great!!
Hi Sumesh, yes you can. You just need to figure out how to remove the trim and the headliner from the inside. In the Polo it’s easy since opening the tailgate/dicky gives access to the trim. Not for the Vento.
Hii.. nice work. In my rapid, the rod like ariel got cracked all over.. One quick doubt? did u tried LED on turn lamps? I sourced a few LEDs from Aliexpress 2 years back wen it was delivering to India.. In their ad, they were telling that it will not make any canbus error. but wen I installed it, it started blinking too quickly. So I removed.
Hi Jinu, I missed replying to your comment. Installing LED bulbs in turn indicators causes hyperflashing because the LED bulbs have very low resistance and the system thinks the bulb which was installed has fused. You should use a compensating resistor which is available on Amazon.
@@GaneshBalan As suggested by you. I cleaned the contact points at the bottom of the board and fixed in a way that the points make contact with the antenna metal base
Take the circuit board out of the sharkfin enclosure and check the grounding and the radio reception while you do that. Poor signal reception is a classic case of grounding issue.
Hi, in the Vento you’ll have to attempt this from the cabin. Seek the help of a good aftermarket accessory shop. They are usually very compliant in removing trims of high end cars.
Hi Prithvi, refer some of the comments above. Some users faced it too. The ground part of the PCB needs to have contact with the metal base of the antenna. Ensure that you have it. And before screwing everything back, test the reception.
@@GaneshBalan Hi Gannu, I guess I was not very clear. While the reception is fine in the city, it's not that great on highways. Earlier, with the stock OEM antenna I used to get reception on regular highway drives. Do you think this is because of the absence of the extended antenna? Can I DM you? Either on email or on team bhp? Thanks.
@@GaneshBalanHi. I have VW beetle. It has similar antenna. I have placed order for it on Boodmo. Will you be available to fix this in Chennai? Thank you.
Will do. 👍🏻 For dashcam installation you don’t have to pry open the B or C pillar. You can lead the cable from the headliner or through the door sills.
Greats guts to remove the pcb .... I would not have attempted this :) But why don't you just use a soldering iron to ease off the ground pads that u drilled ?.?
@@GaneshBalan oh i see... It was some plastic/alloy punching on a groundplane .... That's a weird bit ... Great video by the way.... Thanks for the excellent content...
Also expecting some DIY fixes on the taigun's rattling issues... I feel u are the right person who can feel and fix the trims at the right professional way... :)
Haha dude actually the Taigun belongs to my senior colleague. After exhausting most of the DIYs on my Polo GT, we’ve started tinkering on this car now. I’ll wait to hear from him on the rattles. He hasn’t shared anything specific so far. I believe due to all the cost cutting, quality of the plastic trims, the clips used etc must have taken a hit. I don’t want to remove anything to check as such. If I come across anything, I’ll be sure to share it. 🙂👍🏻
Hi Samrat, yes the process is similar except you’ll have limited access while removing the trim behind the headliner since you cannot access it from the boot. You’ll have to do it from inside the cabin.
Sir big fan of yours. By seeing your mods in team bhp i have modified most in vw GT tsi 2016 model. Thank you very much sir. Keep posting. My cars radio signal is poor in stock antena. Will this shark fin antena improve the signal please suggest sir.
What system do you have? The stock antenna gives a very good reception as is evident towards the end of the video. Have the installers cut the radio cable at the music system or something to fit your system?
@@GaneshBalan sir I have original RCD 330G model. Nothing modified sir.it works good in highways but as soon as I enter into city limits nothing but ghushhh...ghushhhh
Hi Mayur. You’ve to be a bit careful with this step. Else you risk damaging the PCB and the other SMD components soldered on it. Take it to an engineering workshop but please insist on using the vice and the smallest drill bit.
A very nice detailed explanation about installing the Sharkfin aerial to Polo. Kudos

hello ganesh bhai i have a question, can we do this same procedure on vw vento?

@@GaneshBalan bhai thank you for replying, without antenna (rod) will i get full radio signal reception without any disturbance?

Perfect as always ❤️
Thanks a lot Rahul. Appreciate it man. 🙂
@@GaneshBalan you're welcome :)
Loved your video just one question though. Did the performance of the FM degrade by this upgrade?
No dude we didn’t feel anything of that sort. The reception was as clear as before. You can see towards the end of the clip.
Great work from you sir. I installed the antenna. but having trouble with reception.
need help with this issue
Hi Rohit, please check if the main contact points on the board are making contact with the metal base of the antenna.
@@GaneshBalan thank you for the advice the antenna is working fine now.

Do we get to buy a sharkfin antenna with the circuit already built in??
You do. Of the Jetta but installation in the Polo doesn’t work straightforward. Requires some modifications.
@@GaneshBalan How come it s different? Is it due to the fakra connector adapter difference>>?
I have done in same way as you shown in video but there is problem in signal reception
Take the circuit board out of the sharkfin enclosure and check the grounding and the radio reception while you do that. Poor signal reception is a classic case of grounding issue.
Bro Can you share the boodmo product link
I’ve given the link in the description.
Can we do this in a Vento, Since the access to the headliner in the rear would be tough due to fixed rear windshield.
Hi, in the Vento you’ll have to attempt this from the cabin. Seek the help of a good aftermarket accessory shop. They are usually very compliant in removing trims of high end cars.
Hello Sir what is epoxy glue used to fix the PCB back
Use hot glue. In the future if you want to remove the board, you can do it. Epoxy glue hardens to a permanent bond.
Seeing that you are replacing the internal with the stock and that it comes with a rubber gasket, this should work with a lot of vehicles & brands 😅
Haha it may work. I’m not sure if the stock circuit from the radio serial of other cars would fit inside this one.
Hi Gannu, I did the exact replacement and have reception issues. Are you facing the same issues?

how did you manage to detach the headliner in vento? any advice would be appreciated
Can it be installed in hyundai i20 elite?
Hi, not sure of Hyundais. Try to remove the stock antenna and check if it has a similar mounting hole.
