spot on. But very loud on "friday night is speedway night" I recall as a child 500m away from the showgrounds... NIMBY attitudes prevailed unfortunately
@@mhp0810 The same thing happened here here, in Sydney, with the old and World famous, Sydney Showground Speedway. It, too was close to the C.B.D of downtown Sydney (only a 10min bus ride) and within walking distance of the (now "dead as a door nail") Kings Cross. As soon as the inner City property prices started to regain their value back in the very early 1980s, the old Girl's days were numbered. That, and the continued "bitching" from all the "Johnny-Come-Latelies", with all there big-end-of-town money which always come with political clout, saw the whole place close down in 1996, to make way for Mr Rupert Murdoch, and his "Fox Studios". So much for the once staunchly Working Class area, and their intrests and hobbies, this X-Aussie (and an X-Aussie he is ... mostly for "Tax Reasons") throws a few bones to the "Local Dogs", er, Politicians, and overnight, history is turned to dust, and the Real Estate Developers can sell at Top $$, so you, to can have a "life next door to the Stars". FFS!! Hang your head in shame, Sydney!!
Alf Barbagallo was the man back in the day.
It seems like more people went to Clearmont than the Motorplex. It was easier for most people to get to.
