Cool folding mechanism. However, I could get the same result with two lengths of rope/chain, two boards and two hinges.
I think the idea is to make it look complicated and impress the non-makers.

It's nice seeing a sheet cut and hanging flat which then transitions into full use. Some ideas ? You don't really need all those vertical supports. Maybe the 2 outermost and one in the center, or maybe 2 on each side of the outermost - 1,3, 13, 15 (L-R) would hold the surface flat when folded out. - just put spacers on the rod so they stay aligned on it. that would save weight too, as it looks like you were maybe considering that with the voids in the table surface. The advantage to doing it this way is you'd remove all those glide slots for the rod to move and when you've opened it into table use, your laptop of whatever can go all the way toward the back without interfering with them. You could also then round or block the portions of the table that don't then need to have a hinge on them. You might need more robust hinges as you decrease the number of them. Cool project, love stuff like this :)
I think that the majority of the boards are there for looks, continuing a mathematical curve, rather than helping with the weight distribution, the only anchor points are actually the first and last pieces after all, which beats the looks of a board with a hinged angle support at the bottom.
a second use for the look supports could be to hold a desk lamp (led strips on the sliders) as to have a light above whatever you are working with.
