Th piano playing here is exquisite. Every note is brought out perfectly. It takes a remarkable pianist to play something like this, slow and sweet, with such warmth and clarity.
WOW I am just discovering Grainger - What beautiful melodies, technique, and specific notes he has made for performance - sounds tranquil but challenging to play... LOVE this
Having only recently discovered this sublime piece of music, I can’t help but be moved by the melody and sit in awe at the performer’s ability to make the melody sing above all else, whilst still able to bring out the nuances of the harmony. As someone who tried to play the piano a little, I wish I had this gift. Thank you Percy Grainger for such a beautiful piece. ❤️
Penelope Thwaites! Du bist genial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Solche Liebe, solche Innigkeit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard this for the first time on The Ohio State University classical radio station tonight and promptly ordered it. I can't wait to learn it. Grainger chose the rich key of D flat. This rendition is exquisite.
One of my favorite pieces to play at church with a cellist who comes home from college better each year. Thank you for this exquisite piano version -- what nuanced and loving playing.
I must write once again in appreciation for this gorgeous performance. Absolutely my favorite piece to play at Christmas time, but I come nowhere near the control, the gorgeous singing melody.
I love Grainger’s lyrical and his famous technical works: so many great masterpieces and he deserves more respect in the musical world even if he didn’t make a historical impact.
@@leroyosmon I can't find that 'fact' anyway, though classicfm.com says this: "Country Gardens made Percy Grainger extraordinarily rich. It sold more than 40,000 copies a year in the U.S. alone. At one concert, after he had already given 17 encores, he said: "I have to play Country Gardens or they won't go home." He did - and they did."
Grainger - asbsolutely amazing composer/arranger often overlooked

That early A-flat at 1:38 is the genius of the universe. I'd like to put that jump-ahead A-flat on my gravestone.
Bruh it came outta nowhere. A musical jump scare
@@user-qj6qf7cu8g That note might have saved his mom -- but she jumped anyway.
...just got something in my eye....

Brava, Penelope Thwaites!
Sublime piece, sublime playing.
This is so beautiful.
Gorgeous playing
Strange guy......but crazy brilliant! Lived in Hawthorn once.
This is a nice performance.
Good ol' strange Percy. They say he earned a million bucks with Country Gardens. Good for him !
He signed over the copyright to the British Folk Music society - he never received a cent.

@hawkturkey Percy always said, "I have not had enough religion to harm a cat!"
@@fslubin Have you read THE bio of Grainger by John Bird?
@@leroyosmon No. I read The Running Pianist by Robert Lewis Taylor, sometime in the 1970's, if I recall. I think the "millions" factoid was in there.
Ditto all - going to have to try to work out any arrangment for classical guitar
Christopher I just made an arrangement for classical guitar! The first I could find anywhere on the internet
Is there any place I can get this arrangement for piano in PDF??
I got it from IMSLP imslp.org/wiki/British_Folk-Music_Settings_(Grainger%2C_Percy)
@@Octavestorm that's not free though
@@jponz85 The sheet music is in the public domain and free on IMSLP
