    Nicely done, Stu.
    I mentioned elsewhere i knew a guy who had one but shaking the rust off of my memory banks, i think it was a Dist +. i knew a couple of guys who had these and i'm on my second one now.
    When hearing examples here, i was thinking i'd dime this like i do the D+ but with the attack on.
    well, you did that and it sounded pretty garblely.
    I'm glad you dig yours but i'd pass. This requires some finessing. Great demo, though :)
    Rock on!

      Thanks for the comment Glen, always appreciated... I did not go into a deep conversation on the topic because I think it would just bore most people (Although I could be wrong?) but I do notice certain guitars (pick-ups) benefit from compression, taking the sting out of shrill notes particularly if using a guitar pick instead of fingers (I'm not really a finger playing person). There is also the benefit of increasing sustain if you push the compressor, although as you noticed it begins to distort which is okay when you are already utilising an overdrive tone from the amp or another pedal. I also use compression in the studio but that is a studio unit that has greater features to allow compression on specific frequencies. As with a number of these technical effects, they can really mess up your sound if not careful. I mainly use it for rhythm tracks where I need to even out guitar tones from my Telecaster and Taylor 814 acoustic. I'm just completing a number of overdrive pedal tests which I think will probably be more up your street... ;-)

      Thanks for the reply, Stu.
      I could be wrong but i believe the DC was born out of compressors built into mixing consoles@@StuGuitarChannel.
      Might be cool to link up with an OD. Might smooth things over....i never considered that.
      ha, thanx for the last line :)
      All in for dirt boxes. Can't wait !!
      Rock ON!!

      @@glenkepic3208 Yes... good old OD pedals, I owned a lot of them in my early years trying to get the sound I was after and had a love hate relationship with them. Mentioned before about the silly prices some of those go for today on the used market.

      Yep, love od's. looking forward to@@StuGuitarChannelanything....
      lessee, Gator board,,,,D+, DS-!, Bad Monkey, BB!!. They all offered something different and inspiring before the move.
      Now, Spark 40 thru headphones and whatever happens...Oh welll,,,that's life.
      oh, wild card, EH Holy Stain and Zoom 1010. Sorta A Big Muff which i had and more and a progamable floor unit. Sounded good to me.
      I loved these. Haven't seen the light of day in over 8 years but at least i still own them.

      Hi Glen, for some reason your comment was not showing in the comments section on my system so I used another way to find your comment to enable me to reply. Still trying to get the hang of UA-cam... ;-) Are you not tempted to get those old pedals out and see if they are as good as you remember...

    Does turnimg the sensitivity clockwise increase or decrease compression?

    • @StuGuitarChannel
      @StuGuitarChannel  8 місяців тому

      Hi Douginny - Ye, turning the 'Sensitivity' control clockwise does increase the compression and ultimately distorts some-what at maximum. As mentioned previously, it's an interesting effect but probably not something I would personally use... Regards: Stu

    Why does everything have more gain and is louder when sensitivity is maxxed?

    • @StuGuitarChannel
      @StuGuitarChannel  8 місяців тому

      Hi Douginny - Why? I am not the best person to answer that technical question but you are right that the volume does increase slightly and I put that down to a distortion effect you get when at full max 'Sensitivity' thereby the need to use the 'Output' to bring the volume where you need it. It's an interesting distortion effect that may prove useful in some projects. For me I only use the compressor in a subtle way when using particular guitars for rhythm and at times when I'm looking to compress the signal on an overdriven lead break. At the end of the day, as a compressor it's a fairly simple pedal and may not have enough control and variation for those looking for that. Regards: Stu
