Another nice old knife ! Strange that on a knife called the Handyman which makes you think of DIY sort of things, they put a fishing tool in it. As for the saw,, they are indeed very good. The other day, in the museum in which which I'm a volunteer gardener, they were having trouble trying to saw through a dead rose bush with a pruning saw. Out came my trusty Swiss Champ. The speed it got through that thing surprised them, and even elicited a " Bloody hell ! from a woman in her 70s lol.
Hey slippy it's Gaz fm - I been off line last few weeks - I get on Mikey Newmans new channel- after 14 years of living off grid I have moved in with my Mrs in the middle of London - hope all is well in the knife community - naturally i brought my collection with me
I already own a Ranger (and plan to get a Swiss Champ very soon), and I feel like having the Handyman would complete the set of my favourite 91mm SAKs alongside the other two
You could also use a hammer an tap lightly a couple of times on the end of the screw that will prevent it from getting loose. I have an old Huntsman I have done it on and it haven't loosen't ever since.
I have one of these ,and my blade, too, is well worn. I'm thinking of sending it back to Victorinox for a new blade and a refurbishment, but part of me wants to leave it original! I had mine as a gift in 1977! I have the 1986 model with pliers, too, plus many other variations of the swiss army knife ,as one leads to another and another? But it was the Handyman that started it all with me!
those are a little rare because back then they were basically like a Ranger and it wasn't until they changed it with the pliers, is when it became more unique. It was stuck between a Ranger and a Champion and the Ranger had the Camping scales. Nobody ever cared about the Handyman and it got lost with other more popular models.
@SlipjointSawyer I'll check that site out. Have found a lot of contrary info on various sites. Through up some pics under the community tab if you ever want to take a peak. Thanks and cheers.
Champion a/b had long nail files apparently, but the Handyman & Craftsman definitely evolved from the same stock toolset as the Champion… at least according to SAKwiki…😊
The most significant change to the Champion was the introduction of a new tool layer in 1973, consisting of a magnifying glass and the in-line Phillips screwdriver. This model is referred to as the 'Champion c' in the SAKWiki layer pages, and Related Tools sections.

I know, weird having a fish scaler on there 😂
A wonderful older piece. Dan keeps stocking some wonderful treasures. Thanks so much for taking us around his one.
Appreciate it John! He's got some really great stuff coming up, maybe a few bits even making it to you 👀🤘🏼
Very nice the Handyman is my favorite the one with the pliers though 👌
Good choice!
Thank you.

That's a good trio for sure
@@SlipjointSawyer They're wonderful little things! I also plan on getting the 111mm Workchamp for outdoor uses as well
Really great looking sak. I've never had one. Maybe someday
Right on

Awesome tips!
Never get tired of SAK videos from you! Thanks for sharing! Looks like a great model!
Thank you Eric

I've recently sent one back to Victorinox for a spa treatment
Very interesting! Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
That’s a great SAK. Awesome video. I’m tempted to add one to the collection
Thanks brother
It's always good advice to check the Tang stamp
100%
Hi Matt. You're slowly tempting me 😂 ✌️❤️
Go for it!
a little bit of Flitz will clean those tools on that and they will look almost new
You know it 🙏🏼
love this one
Thanks Kathleen

It's a weird one for sure! A combination of multiple under a different name
Very nice. Do you happen to know much about Wenger knives? Have an old one from when i was a kid, with a leather case, that is in great shape.
A little bit, SakWiki is a great source

Beautiful vintage knife! .... A 91mm SAK equates to.... 91mm! 🤣😂🤣
🤭😂😂
Not another victim of mr bridge lol. I got done by him this week too lol 😂
(Only joking mate ) 👍👊🤟❤️
Thanks Will
Do you think victorinox should bring in a super steel for the main blade on the ordinary 91mm models . Maybe magna cut like leatherman or s30v ?
That would be cool!
@@SlipjointSawyer I thought you might defend vic steel lol . Quiet a few of the worlds military’s use it , so it must be pretty good 😊
@@marcdee4427 I do love their steel, but an upgrade wouldn't hurt!
Are you sure it isn't a Champion? I have 2 from the mid 1980's
