That's also been my opinion, soft ground improves a horse by seven pounds while handicapping other horses by seven pounds, you can never get carried away with soft ground form.
My god why do people, make excuses for losers and rundown winners, the ground wasn't that soft, the next it runs will tell more, could be a horse that's improving at 3 and we may not have seen the best yet, but don't put the performance down cos you didn't back it,
I have seen every Derby meeting since 1960 and quite a few Oaks winners I would have loved to have seen in the Derby instead. and this year I doubt whether any of the 11 on Saturday could have troubled Snowfall. Im picking Youth Spirit for the derby owner has had to quarantine in 2 different countries just to see his horse ride in the derby he also owned Khalifa Sat that finished 2nd last year he must have alot of faith in youth spirit

That filly ultimately flattered to deceive, not really going on to achieve anything further. I hope that won't be the case with Snowfall; somehow, I don't think it will be.

Why were they watering to provide ‘safe ground’. Firm and good to firm is safe ground if your horse goes on it. Flat racing is a summer sport and good to firm and firm is perfectly acceptable. Furthermore, the responsibility lies with the trainer and if a horse is unsuited by such ground, then the horse is not entered.
eddie woods if you asked most trainers if they had a horse that likes good ground if they would rather run on soft or firm i would say the majority would say soft because firm ground can cause a lot of tendon issues and only specialist firm ground horses run when it's firm ground

The male line of the breed is Arabian and they were not soft ground horses. Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Dubai, Hong Kong, South Africa, America, etc in the large, do not race on soft ground and they generally have better rates of number of starts, length of careers and percentage of breakdowns.
Michael Dowd The opposition could win a 3 yo handicap at Pontefract. I think the runner up ran to 90. I guess the winner is 122. Time was slower then Pyledriver which is a worry because Pyledriver is only a Group 2 horse and not a great one at that.
less than half a second slower and remember she would as a 3 year old filly be getting around 20 lbs from pyldriver who is better than group 2 as the first 2 home in that race destroyed the rest of the field.

She put that gap on them pretty much just in the final furlong too.
She was maybe 4 clear at the furlong pole
Fav for Arc but not supplemented yet. Certainly better the further she goes, not sure about the Eclipse over 1m2f.

No Galileo would have won like that for coolmore but deep impacts progeny are in a different class.
