My older brother, was killed in a motorcycle accident 2 years ago on the eve of his 20th birthday. I loved him with all my heart. He was my role model spiritually and characteristically. He was always the guy who would lift you up when you were down. He encouraged you to expand your relationship with the Lord, and trust and love him with all your being. When he was taken, I was lost in my grief, and didn't know what to do. I was on the virge of suicide, wishing it had been me who had died instead of my beloved brother, when God stepped into my life and took the reigns. Grief is an extremely serious thing, and if you can see someone with it, help them in any way you can. I loved my brother, but his life was in Gods hands. He is in a better place now, and I look forward to meeting him up there in the future. Garret, you inspire so many people with your extraordinary music, including myself, and I encourage you to keep up the great work!!
I didnt realize how much resonate with this song until 1yr since it came out. Thank you for music silent planet and thanks tim for letting Garrett do this track analysis series. You guys rock.
As soon as I heard this song I thought about my friend Morgan who I lost earlier this year. He was my bassist and I never got to show him Silent Planet :(
wait so "First Father" is Adam? Not God? I'm disappointed now... Especially now that my fav. song from the album - Redivider - doesn't mean what I thought it meant, with the First Father part.
Omni Codex That's just a wishful extrapolation, which i will not buy into. If "first father" referred to God, then Redivider would be an amazing song showing the fall and redemption, with double meaning after the shift. But when referring to Adam, it's just the same meaning on both sides of the shift
lclyd I think you should see the true relationship between Adam and Jesus. There is plenty of material on it. I see your point of view, it's just based in an ignorance of Adam's nature.
Omni Codex I know of Adam and Jesus, with Jesus being the second Adam. I know the theology of federal headship. My point is Jesus is not Adam, and so calling Adam first father doesn't meant it's like calling Jesus first father, even if both Adam and Jesus are the federal heads. The headship of the trinity itself are all equally divine and equal in power and essence, and yet, the Father is not called the Son, who is not called the Holy Spirit, who is not called the Father. Your argument is based on a logical fallacy

You can still take meaning from it. In a way, Yeshua is like Adam. Adam was the first human father, so this song still makes sense.

lclyd So what is it with the lyrics you specifically have an issue with then?
