Michter's - another name "bought" from the past to "create a history". I remember visiting the Michter's distillery in Shafferstown, Pennsylvania in the early 1980s. Too bad the distillery went bankrupt before the Bourbon boom. They produced some good Whiskey. I still have a bottle of Michter's 101 Sour Mash Whiskey.
One of the more disappointing bottles we’ve ever purchased was a 2020 M10. It’s not bad but as was said the oak is pushed to (or even a touch past) the limit. Combined with the lower proof and higher price it just doesn’t feel like money well spent. Just starting the watch but can’t wait to see how these hit you guys because you tend to level if it’s not great despite the hype.
The 2023s are out of this freaking world so much so I put six bottles up in my collection The scuttlebutt is most the barrels are as close as 15 years or more in age absolutely delicious I believe it could be whiskey of the year
So happy the one you said is best is one I was actually able to acquire. Is it worth $175-200, probably not but it’s a fantastic add to my collection. Really wish these came out at around 100proof. The 20 year is 110-120 and I think the added proof really makes it.
At 100 proof this bottle would be killer because it definitely drinks thin like you guys mention. Good flavors and great nose but really wish it gave more of a punch. The 10 year rye drinks much better at their proof point I feel. It packs so much tannin for being a rye that you just don't come across often, if ever (can't think of an older rye on the market outside KO batches and Redemption rye).
They do try to hit a specific profile for each release, so, while there is variation barrel to barrel, there tends to be even more variation year to year.
I never see this for less than $300. So I've never bought it. I did get to taste two Michters 20 year olds for free about 3 years ago and one of them was the best bourbon I ever had. Your blend is exactly why I never do an infinity bottle. What a waste of good bourbon!!!!!
Haven't tried it in a long time. I thought we opened one on a live stream, but maybe not. In general with the Michter's special releases, I usually like them, but don't think they are really worth the big mark-ups they tend to get. Hope that helps!
Michter's 10 Bourbon is always a hard pass for me. A friend of mine has a bottle, and I've tried it twice. The first time it was just a straight peanut bomb. I'm not sure if it just had time to open up the second time I tried it or if my palate was in a different place, but it tasted like bitter plums the second time I tried it. It just wasn't good. Maybe it was just that particular bottle, but I'll probably never buy Michter's 10 Bourbon just based on that experience, especially considering that every time I see a bottle, it's priced at $300+. I'd much rather have a Four Roses Barrel Pick or ECBP for much less. Not to mention Rare Breed, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel, and Knob Creek 12, which are all readily available.
I love this stuff BUT... Single Barrels that DON'T have an associated Small Batch always seem like cheating to me...or maybe just as an incomplete. The assignment is to source grain, ferment it, distill it, barrel and age it and then BLEND it to create a great liquor experience. Preferably a repeatable one. This product (Blanton's is another) skips that last step. I think its one thing to do a Single Barrel flex if you are already putting out a great Small Batch age stated product, and I don't mean to imply what Michter's is doing is easy, but isn't this just a lottery ticket? Crank out 250 barrels, cherry pick the best 25 and send them to market. The duds go into some other blend, or maybe get sold to a sourcing label. That isn't easy, but it seems like its "easier" than cranking out a consistent blend year after year. Then again I bought the 2018 and am looking for the 2021, so color me a hypocrite.

Let’s go!! Thanks for helping me start my Monday right! 🙏🏻
Enjoyed this!

“You went through my underwear???” Hahahah.
Blind battle win for ER10 over Michters 10 = win against FOMO

Is a 23F bottle worth buying or should I look for a 23A bottle. Also have an option to get a 20C bottle. Should I even bother with that one?

Damn am I catching some vapor wave vibes on the outro?! 👌🏻🤌🏻

Wow... never tried one of these, much less the vertical
This was lots of fun to watch! These are single barrels, correct? So variation should depend more on the barrel than the year.

Great video as always. Have you ever had the Michters toasted barrel strength Rye? I have an opportunity to buy that one but unsure

Honestly I like Eagle Rare 10 better especially at 40 bucks
@@royn8032 It's better at $30 if you can find it lol
@@Vortex1988 Oh hell yes no brainer!!
Random question: Why does Dillon have a coaster in every video but Dutch and Jules don’t? Just preference? Love the content guys, keep it up!
Dillon is just more civilized than Dutch or Jules. Also, he has bizarre standards. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review. Definitely a delicious pour but sorry the price makes it worthless. I'd be happy paying $75 bucks.

GlenAllachie drinkthrough?
Do you guys gas bottles like this to keep them fresh or just go au naturale?
No gas in these. Occasionally will use argon for some of our very rare older bottles though.
WAIT UNTIL YOU TASTE THE 2023. ITS SPECIAL.
Better than 2021?
@@royn8032 yes
Lost me at 199 dollars.
It is soooo allocated and too much for a 10 yr.
