What is the local government doing about this? I mean, since politicians took power away from traditional authorities.... who then can we point fingers to? Our government needs to wake up. Look how greedy we are to not even want our children to have at least references, particularly about Nelson Mandela, because by look of this situation rather condition after 20 years from now, nobody can recognize it was a museum

Very very sad bro but not surprise bro this come as a package of what we vote for these political battles are the ones causing so much confusion at the end surprising how such project are implemented from the start if there's nothing to maintain in the budget, I think I should indulge myself as well into finding out this answers as to who's responsible for maintaining and why is that person not doing their job
It's quite sad. In 5 years time the property will be worse of then monies will be needed to fix so one can eat it. The circle continues

Tumza, I have commented a lot about this place. I commented about the state of the Mthatha town and the CBD area where there are foreign nationals doing all types of business and they do not keep the place clean and they do not give a RESPECT to Mandela because he is not theirs, but they are here through the sweats of this man. I commented how our ANC not care about the place because visitors from abroad come and look at the state of the place and we call it Mandela's birth place. Mandela's family is there in Qunu and his beloved grandson stays there. Mandela had a wife Mrs Graca Machel-Mandela. There is also a KING named King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo. What are these foundations for? Look at his Johannesburg home. There is OR TAMBO MUNICIPALITY. It is a shame we destroy our HISTORY. When someone comments about such things you are labelled as XENOPHOBIC OR UNPATRIOTIC.
You are spot on, it is a sad story. They don't give a thing about this place and it's a shame. I'm going to try to get some answers, hopefully someone will be in position to share a light. You are absolutely right about foreign nationals but the issue is our law enforcement, they are sleep on the job.
