    I was there! Stephen King was great, and he is obviously modest with interviewers when he says he does not play guitar very well.

      Shellac: Dude Incredible / Watch Song - Oakland, 7/12/15 2140PM 22.12.21 IS IT..IS IT WHAT I'VE BEEN DOIN.....? ah well, if so then so be it.... erm... excellent band in it's day, agreed.... he seemed to know when to trash big black so how come he's vaguely grasping at things to do in the present...? a decent band to listen to as you play cribbage. ok. cool... like it. the music...

    I really love it when band members pick up the slack when one of the team needs a minute to fix stuff, tune, recover, etc. Just playing a groove with fewer instruments is cool, but Bob's Q&A is friggin' great.

    Excellent stuff. I wonder what those amps at the back are, just one knob, sound sick.

      Steve and Bob are both using custom amp cases, inside of which are Traynor TS-50B amp heads. See: www.offsetguitars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25350

      @@michaelzvid it is just bob who uses the 50b. steve uses an intersound IVP and a blackface bassman

    • @michaelzvid
      @michaelzvid  3 роки тому +1

      @@nolondon It's true that Steve has been seen more recently on stage with Shellac using the IVP and Fender Bassman, but when he was using the custom amp case (as in this video), there was no way to know for sure what gear was hidden inside it.

    • @nolondon
      @nolondon 3 роки тому

      @@michaelzvid no, thats just stage fill for bobs rig, that amp you behind steve is 2 15" enclosures, which is definitely more suited for bass. that, and steve has been using the same rig more or less since the inception of shellac. sometimes the bassman is swapped for a plexi, but thats about it

    • @noesunyoutuber7680
      @noesunyoutuber7680 2 роки тому

      @@nolondon I think that's Steve's actual setup, there's a rig diagram from 2000 showing that he hooks into two custom-built cabinets. One's more of a normal guitar cab, the other is a custom one that better preserves those unusual frequencies from the IVP. But you're correct that the Bassman/IVP combo has always been Steve's Shellac tone. The weird boxes are custom rehouses for their setups - Bob's Traynor is a 50 watt amp, so it's mixed with a separate power section to be suitable for larger gigs, and Steve's got the IVP, Bassman, and a power amp for the IVP all wired up in that box. Presumably the boxes make them easier to load in and out, and they've said in interviews that you only really need a volume control because once you've got the tone you want, the knobs are just a hazard to avoid.
