Many of my favourite plant UA-camrs stopped making videos. A lot of people here from where I’m coming from (Vancouver) shifted interest and selling there plants and downsizing big time. People are less interested with the social media trendy plants and super pricey. I myself have downsized my collection. I let go 60% of mine. I’m only keeping the ones that I truly love and that can complement my aesthetic and goes well with my decors. I’m so done with messy jungle vibe and so done with over propagating and keeping multiples. I’m in a more liveable space and better mood all the time. Too much plants causes more anxieties and also ruins my wall and furniture due to molding caused by too much humidity.

Plant burnout is not something that can be avoided especially these days where people are collecting plants dictated by the social media trends. Time will come you’ll get sick and tired of collecting. You’ll get overwhelmed. Then you will neglect the plants. Right now I only have 20 houseplants. These are the ones that give me joy. I used to have 200+ that I accumulated since the pandemic. I don’t care about what’s the most sought after and rare plants anymore. I also unfollow many planty IG people coz I know they’re just going to influence me, that’s why they’re called influencers.

Thank you for sharing your experience 🙏 It’s quite interesting to hear, especially coming from overseas. There’s a part of me that gets sad about people leaving the hobby however, I do think that it leaves the incredibly passionate ones left (even if they have smaller, more intimate collections). I do think that Covid and people being cooped up at home contributed to the plant craziness and collecting at rapid rates. I’m glad to hear you still find joy in your collection after letting go of majority of it. There’s something beautiful about having statement pieces in your home that compliments your decor and suit your personal lifestyle. Wishing you all the best 🌿

I have just started doing this way of plant chores this week. I was watering almost every day and working full time in the office made it tough only because I don’t like “doing anything” when I first wake up. However, I was finding myself watering at 3AM on the office days and I said this week “let’s take off watering fully on office days”. So, this week I feel less stressed and I did water just a little bit on the Anthurium’s where I haven’t done that before and this weekend they’ll get the full drench in the sync.
This was a great video and anyone who is afraid to “relax more”, don’t be. It could save your plant relationships. 😊

Hello lovely! Thank you for sharing your day to day planty experience. Watering at 3am is commitment! Hoping you find your own personal rhythm with your plant babies and enjoy slowing down with them 🥰 🌿

Have given many away and put quite a few on the nature strip. I'm not sure how many plants I have but said just last week that ten need to be gone in the next month. It's not easy but just working out the ones I love

Thank you for sharing your experience 🙏 It can be quite the difficult process trying to figure out which plants to keep and which to let go of. I’m hoping you feel a lot lighter now that you’ve given lots a way and your plant journey is a lot more enjoyable ☺️✨

I literally have over 1,000 houseplants (it’s wild) and have been collecting for 10+ years. Plant burnout is real (I’ve been there), but as you said everyone has a different threshold for how many plants you can care for. I just love plants and gardening so much that I can deal/handle it most of the time. Thanks for sharing these helpful ideas with everyone. 😅❤
