Gaiman's bit about anti-whitewashing made me really happy. it's so refreshing to see people actually care about such vital parts of a character and the casting process instead of assuming white is the "standard".
Because it is the standard in America. The same way black is the standard in an African nation, for example. Being a standard isn't the problem, being the only option is. You should be anti-racism of any kind, not just whitewashing because Shadow is actually mixed, he isn't black only. This bullshit of ignoring the white part of a mixed raced child is disgusting.
Perri you did a GREAT job interviewing all these ppl. Most of these cast interviews are full of fluff questions and/or are rushed because of all the people. But your questions were great and I actually learned a lot about the cast & the show!
I didn't think about it until I read this comment(which is a good thing btw) but jollyblue is %1000 right. What a great interview conducted with such extraordinary people from a journalist who has done their homework. So many awkward interviews out there but this was perfect. I would barely have been able to speak in such company but you did fantastic and made me even more excited than ever. They are really gonna knock this one out of the park it feels and what an accomplishment considering how difficult it must have been to bring this unique tale to the screen. Thanks again! Subbed! And for the record you have a wonderful smile :)
I had goosebumps just imagining Orlando Jones' first monologue as Anansi and the other actors applauding. The book is a masterpiece, I really hope the series makes it justice.
I always knew Shadow was mixed race as in black and white based on the description in the books. Gaiman good as confirmed it with his statement here, I love Gaiman the man is a literacy genius and a decent human being.
So excited for this show! Ian McShane, Pablo Schreiber, Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning, Peter Stormare, Jonathan Tucker, CRISPIN-MUTHAFUCKING-GLOVER AND DANE FUCKING COOK!? Sign me up!!!!
Can we see another comic book from Neil Gaiman please? Can't Marvel or Dc hire him for Thor, Wonder Woman, Dr. Strange, New Gods or even something new just let him do magic.
I've read all of Neil Gaiman's books and American Gods is actually my least favourite - although that still makes it better than a great deal of what's out there. I didn't find the central narrative that compelling and it was all over the place. The atmosphere, themes and characters were fantastic, however, and the very end - HOLY SHIT.
serenevil He had all these amazing ideas and could not keep them organized. The book was also too long. Anansi Boys is about the same themes but is a lot better - and shorter. I would say he wasn't a good enough author yet but he wrote Neverwhere before that and it was convoluted as hell but never confusing or meandering so go figure.
well the show's going to be great regardless. bryan fuller never disappoints. i only hope he has someone to reign him in a little this time. hannibal was slightly too esoteric by the end Neil was always lacking this one thing and i could never put my finger on it nor could i even describe what it could be. i'm kinda happy you commented because he has such a solid following that i genuinely thought i was an outlier or else just didn't get it.
serenevil You are certainly not, many of Gaiman's fans recognize that American Gods is a sprawling mess. I could never seem him writing a book like it today, for instance The Graveyard Book and the Ocean at the End of the Lane are exemplary in terms of writing skill. I hope that the show reigns him in too.
Neil Gaiman "Don't whitewash my sh*t".
Are you listening Ghost in The Shell guys!
Much respect to Neil Gaiman!

Really appreciate that! Was pretty damn nervous to sit down with eight people at once - especially when it was an incredible group like this!

It Sounds very interesting
Underrated great show that got drowned by poor overall picture being destroyed by mediocre writing in later seasons
how come nobody is taking about Ghostbusters anymore? it still hasn't made its money back...can we call it a flop yet without being attacked?
+Brin Londo seams irresponsible of sony to toss good money after bad.
