Happy Father's Day! If you own or work on Smart Cars, this is for you!
I genuinely thought about buying one because the egg shape chassis is supposed to be much safer than a normal car in an accident. Then I realized its still a Mercedes at heart with a random German parts bin of extras to make it work. The mechanical and electrical systems are so convoluted, and parts difficult to find, it would total out the car multiple times if one of them decided to self destruct.
Nice, never had an eye for these but interesting, thanks
11:14 That protrusion at the end of the trunk lid is perfect for generating a lot of colourful swearing when someone inevitably pokes themselves on it
These can be somewhat 'interesting' to work on...I had to change the starter motor on the 450 model with the 700cc turbo three cylinder engine (don't think these were ever sold in NA) and I think it was the first component that was put on the production line at the factory, and they then built the rest of the car around it. It was an enjoyable car to drive (except the gearbox which is awful and borderline dangerous), but I sold it and bought a Toyota iQ which is so much better.
Sounds like the way Isuzu's are built. I call it Play-Dough engineering.
free hamster with every Smart car purchase.
Thanks and we got BFATE :D
really interesting , thanks .
I have an inconsistant loud rattle coming from my radiator fan area... any ideas?
I like how you try hiding the plate at the start and as the video progresses more and more letters are visible. Then towards the end I think you're exhausted from working on this clown car and don't hide it anymore haha
Accurate lol
I would not be caught dead in one of those cars! Should be a pain to work on. A real Dumb car
I thought they quit making these things.
Energizer Bunny stuff... at least in China. →en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_(marque)
Junk and over priced EV model 58 mile range on battery only.
Nice tour always wanted one but sure would not like working on it.
Just takes some tips and little more patience finding the parts.
Assume the service position, you can see the MB design team was there, making the life of mechanics world over unhappy. But on the good side it is so light you can just support the engine and lift the car up above them.
Happy Father’s Day
I is not smart nuff to fix these kars
Your the man Brian
Had clearcoat issues on my last Smarty but it was old and Im in Australia so everything has clearcoat issues including me. :)
