I'm a musician from New York City but for the last six months I've been living in Ireland and I LOVE it here. I've been posting weekly vlogs of my travels around Ireland and Europe in general. It's been just AMAZING!
Lord what I wouldn't give to have a beer in a real Irish pub. I live down in Houston, TX now (came from Alexandria, VA) and these people haven't the slightest idea of what a pub is, let alone an Irish one. The closest thing around is a dark, dank dive in some seedy strip mall.
CaesarinVa. None of these places are real Irish pubs, only tarted up for tourists. No locals drink in them. They go to the dark, dank dives with linoleum floors and flock wallpaper.

I found the best music in Shannon at Peppers Pub. Traveled to all the rest and still think the music played there was the best I heard while living in Ireland.
I've lived in Ireland since I was 5, I'm 25 now and I always thank my lucky stars to have grown up here. One of the safest and kindest places to grow up, especially in the south! We have no real natural disasters that ever hit us, no school shootings or serious racial tensions. Few rough spots here and there (as comes with in any populated city) but overall I couldnt ask for a better place to grow up. Our youth and young adults are increasingly progressive, the vote to pass legalizing Gay marriage recently passed with flying colors and (especially in Cork) we are hugely multi cultural, I've met as many people from all parts of the world and europe as I have Irish on a given night out. It's all love!

I hear a lot of people say the "real" Irish pub is dead and gone, and former pub owners off the beaten path, outside of Dublin loathed the pubs in Dublin. If I could go to Ireland, I would love to be able to go to any pub!
@@hidan407 well, I'm Irish myself so I wouldn't want to tell you that this sort of thing doesn't happen because theres a chance I just dont see it. But I will say that I do work with people from all over the world (mainly South America, Africa and Eastern Europe) and they seem to be pretty happy here. My girlfriend is Polish and she doesn't see any forms of intolerance either. Overall Ireland's pretty laid back, from my experience people seem to get along fine as long as you don't give them a reason to do otherwise.
