Thanks alot Amon. It is very upsetting to see the other musicians not getting the recognition they deserve. Not mentioning them not even in the description is quite unfair to them and also to those viewers who would like to explore a bit further on each of the musicians involved
Drumming masterclass. High level musicianship from all the guys in the band. And they didn,t just played it just like the recorded version, this is a sligthly different version. And the recording was also great , crisp sound and smooth camera work. A very nice introduction to Alfa Mist's contemporary jazz. Thank you all.
Definitely so as far as the drummer is concerned. Not quite as flashy or charismatic as Yussef but easily on the same prowess/finesse echelon (so much Spaven on his playing)
Honestly, I thought Alfa Mist was a producer who sampled abunch of jazz, and put a beat on it with a drum machine. I am IMPRESSED, and in SHOCK, and My soul is DEEPLY Satisfied!!
Memz Beats lol that would be even more impressive... the whole album is pretty much improv with intros and brief written sections. Accomplishing something that sounds like this with samples would be ridiculous and pretty much impossible.
Yeah Rising Moon, just what I thought, if you'd know how to make music with samples, synths, drum machines and stuff then you'd recognize this is acoustic and played music. Yet the observation pointed out is good because Alfa Mist's pieces are really special and satisfactory for any one who enjoys this style. So much feeling put on this and such an unique combination of harmonies and beats, the metric is awesome, everything on it is quite perfect.
Listen to the podcast "AreWeLive" on SoundCloud. It's Alfa, Tom Misch, Jordan Rakei and Barney. They just talk about music and they play one song each at the end. You get to understand them better.
This is like the Jazz I grew up with. I use the to go to jazz shows with my parents. I would see Miles Davis, Charlie Parker etc.. I keep coming back to this as well.
The production quality of these sessions just keeps on getting better. On par with the fantastic performance. Thank you Mahogany team for being so good at your craft.
The Best of Mahogany Sessions EVER ! Impeccable ! Beautiful movement of the camera operator very musical solo by all musician ... nice color ! Perfect !
What can I say? ...Each individual instrument, when they were played, tapped into my soul...when they melded together, they actually danced together with my entire inner being. I find we could've gone on together, melding into one ,
I don’t know why he’s not a household name, originality and the fusion of genres, l played Antiphon thru out this past summer. It was intoxicating and I can’t wait for the next release. Bravo bravo
I think we have to thank NPR, Mahogany and so many more for creating these videos and promoting these artists. All information about them in the description will be welcome. The request for credit to the other musicians is very good as a suggestion but not as a requirement. Let's not be angry about that. Meanwhile the work will be ours ... investigate and share ... That's awesome. I was listening to the muted trumpet on the intro with the shot of the drums and lamenting not having a copper bubble jo-ral that would be open enough to not feel like I was playing the low on eggshells... and then it pans to the trumpeter using what looks like...a copper bubble jo-ral
