  • Sammy Atomiswave - Samurai Shodown 6 - Overview and Gameplay
Welcome back to another video. In this video, I show my recent pickup of a Sammy Atomiswave arcade motherboard and Samurai Shodown 6 game cartridge. I give an overview of the arcade hardware and show some gameplay and talk about the game. I absolutely love the Samurai Shodown series.
Samurai Shodown VI, known as Samurai Spirits: Tale of the World's Greatest Swordsman is the tenth iteration in the Samurai Shodown series.
The game features new backgrounds with 2D and 3D elements, as well as a returning cast of all 28 characters from Samurai Shodown V Special, 2 sub-bosses from Samurai Shodown V, as well as all 7 characters from Samurai Shodown and Samurai Shodown II that didn't appear in later games, and 4 new characters. It also features a "spirit select" system, which allows players to choose between six different fighting styles based on all previous installments.
The game was originally released onto the arcade hardware, Sammy Atomiswave but has since come to home consoles such as PS2, PSP, Wii and the Dreamcast.
I hope that you all enjoy the video and if you do please Like and Subscribe for future videos.

Hey Anthony, I am good thanks mate. Life has been so busy for me this year that I have had zero time to make videos for quite some time now :(
I became a Grandad this year, at the age of 46! haha...it's really made me feel old all of a sudden.
I have still been picking up retro games this year, so will hopefully get around to uploading some content before Christmas.
I hope you and your family are also good and well! Have a great Christmas Bro, thanks for the message.
      Take it easy, Frank

Awesome addition! I understand your frustration with buying gaming software that is not authentic and the hassle of getting refund. Sometimes bootlegs can have a negative impact on the hardware. It happened to me with the 161-in-1 MVS cart, which ruined my consolized MVS. Luckily I was able to get a replacement system for free. Enjoy it and hopefully you get more games and show them here.

Thanks mate :) I am happy to finally have the Atomiswave motherboard and SS6. I'm actually beginning to enjoy playing this game, and although it will never match the great SSVS, it's still great fun to play. The MS6 bootleg copy was a disappointment but I received most of my money back, so all good. The most disappointing aspect of this purchase was I checked several times with the seller that what he was selling was genuine, and he replied back saying this was 100% genuine. After I then made the purchase, then received the goods 2 months after, I couldn't believe what I had received. He just didn't understand when I filed a dispute stating it was fake. He was very insulting, calling me a thief, con-man etc when I was trying to resolve directly with him so in the end I left it to the Aliexpress people to resolve and had a great outcome. There was definitely a language barrier issue between the seller and I, so I will be careful on what I buy on Aliexpress in the future. I still need to find a genuine MS6 cartridge though, which is becoming increasingly difficult and expensive to find!
Ah no! I have heard of some of the 161-in 1 MVS carts destroying consolized MVS's...something to do with the incorrect voltage wiring in them. So, you managed to get your consolized MVS replaced?
Thanks for watching mate...I will definitely make more videos on the Atomiswave, once I manage to obtain further games in the future ;)

@@AussieFreakGamers I often see that sellers are not knowledgeable on the products they are selling. I see it all the time on eBay. Of course, sellers will know that a product is not authentic, but will pass it off as so, even if evidence is provided to them confirming their statements are false.
Yes, I reached out to Arcade Works and they sent me a replacement unit, though it took about a year and lots of follow up messages to do so.

@@NeoTurboManiac78 you have an Arcade Works Omega?! Nice...I was going to try to get one a long time ago but they are very expensive. It's fantastic that they replaced the unit for you though, due to your perseverance. I do have a consolized MVS, bought off a seller from eBay that seems to work well but to be honest I mainly play Neo Geo MVS games on the arcade machines these days. It's great to have options though :)

Oh wow! Nice to see you playing Samurai Shodown 6 on the Atomiswave Frank. I always wanted to consolize one to have available to play at home. I also liked Samurai Shodown 6. It was a fun game that is easily forgotten out of the series. Too bad. It's work playing for sure.
If you like Frank, feel free to post this on the Neo-Geo thread on Atariage.com. We would love to see it from you and with you on with us as well bro. 8^)

Hey Anthony, thanks mate :) It was great to finally get hold of the Atomiswave as I'd been looking into picking one up for a a very long time. Definitely! I've been enjoying playing Samurai Shodown 6...good game in my opinion. I'm hoping to add more games to this collection, including a genuine Metal Slug 6 at some point.
I will post this on the Neo-Geo thread :) Cheers bro

I had a busy year last year with real life stuff so didn't get the chance to make much content for my channel, but hopefully I can put that right this year ;)

Hey mate, yes I am joined to several of the Neo Geo groups on Facebook ;) 'Neo Geo Forever' and 'Neo Geo For Life' to name just a couple. I just view other people posts, comment etc. don't ever post anything myself.
I enjoy speaking with other collectors. I wish I could afford more AES games but they are just not affordable anymore. My MVS collection is now at over 50 games and I'm enjoying the Atomiswave. How's your collection going?
Anyway, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :)

Looks amazing, very jealous! Going to try and get this set up on a Dreamcast->CRT with the Atomiswave port, not quite the same as the original hardware though. Do you know if your monitor is displaying 480i or 480p?

    • @AussieFreakGamers
      @AussieFreakGamers  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you :)
I feel really fortunate having the Atomiswave in my collection. The monitor in my New Astro City is a Nanao MS9 29" CRT monitor. It can display 15 or 24 kHz, I believe mine is only set to 15 kHz. So, from my understanding this is near a 240p resolution. 24 kHz is 384p and 31 kHz is 480p. I believe the Sega Blast City monitor supports 31 kHz, and the Atomiswave has a selectable switch from 15 kHz to 31 kHz. I added a couple more Atomiswave games to my collection recently but I have not had the time to upload the videos to my channel yet.
The Sega Dreamcast is awesome! I had one at launch with many games, and it was great that it could also play backups easily via a boot disc. Unfortunately, I sold it years ago but I'd definitely like to pick another one up someday.
Thanks again for watching and for taking the time to comment on my video, I really appreciate it :)

@@AussieFreakGamers Thanks! It’s a really nice looking monitor, a great size too. I’ve got a Sony 2130QM, but that can only do 240p/480i, so I was worrying about clarity. But if yours is on 240p mode too then that gives me hope that my set up might look somewhere close! I’d love to see videos on the other Atomiswave games you’ve got, it’s a really cool system.

@@Snowcountry556 Thank you. I love the big monitor on the Astro City. Great PVM, now I am the jealous one! I picked up a couple of PVM monitors several months ago but only 9" models. I think they are great though, especially when I am testing games out on my computer desk and I am sitting close to them anyway. The prices of PVM monitors here in Australia are astronomical! I really think that the Dreamcast will look amazing on that PVM :)

@@AussieFreakGamers I hope so, the geometry on mine is pretty bad, but you don't notice in anything but vertical scrolling really! Mine was £150 (but I paid almost that getting back to working condition), so not so bad here in the UK.

Why piss about with all this hassle and £££££££ when you can just run MAME or RetroArch?
Having original hardware is nice, but i would rather not have the hassle dealing with scummy bootleg sellers on eBay, and import taxes... and stupid shipping costs... and damaged boards... Life is too short for dealing with all that shit.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I enjoy collecting original hardware for the systems/games that I really enjoy. There are multiple ways of playing these great games, you mentioned a few but I love owning the original games/hardware, it means that much more to me.
