- Phoenix brings a special guest to the card game. Totally above board and innocent, I'm sure!
Thanks to @8edhead for playing Trucy in this video, and to Paula for creating the comic!

I made this a month or so ago, but I didn't post it because we were planning to make it into an animation. That's still happening, but it's taking longer than she expected it to so she encouraged me to just put this up anyway in the meantime.

I love hobo Phoenix using a literal child to cheat at poker.
Hobo Phoenix is evil Phoenix, brah.
He don't play by the rules.
He cheated without her in the game, just to avoid being labeled a cheater.
He cheated only at the big games
Well technically
🤣
This is what I love about Phoenix in AA4. He has lost his badge for reasons outside his control, sure, but that was also his one incentive to play fair in a world where he knows damn well that the deck is already rigged against him. So he ended up being simultaneously at his strongest and weakest, being able to bend the rules at his leisure- but having to rely on Apollo to actually defend the clients.
There are people who complain that in AA5 Phoenix went back to the AA123 version but that's the point, I spent more than half a decade preparing for AA4 after the guy there was arrested phoenix I finally relax and go back to normal but in aa5 he was a bit of an asshole with Apollo because he needed someone who was a lawyer and who followed the truth and who people would underestimate
I'd argue differently.
He only used Trucy in matches against people he knew were poker pros, to keep his reputation. Which, at that point, he was using the money from to help support himself and Trucy.
He gave Apollo forged evidence not to endanger Apollo's career, but to make sure Kristoph KNEW that it was Phoenix who was putting him away, exactly the same way that Kristoph had given him forged evidence and made Phoenix lose his badge.
Most of the time he continues to play by the rules. Most of the poker matches were won by him on his own, and it was only the one time he gave Apollo forged evidence, which I don't actually think was accepted into the official evidence, because Kristoph admitted his own guilt by saying it was a forgery.
I don't think his badge was his ONLY reason to play fair, since he does play fair for pretty much the rest of the game.
@@ShadowdaHedgie11The way I read it in the Apollo Justice game was the evidence he gave Apollo was in no way supposed to be proof of Kristoph's guilt but was more of a visual aid to explain WHY the card was missing. WHY was the card at the scene replaced with a different card? And only the killer would have known why the card had to be taken or that there would have been a blue deck of cards at the table as well as red ones... as only people directly at the crime scene should have known that fact.
@@whale21100 It was basically a trap. Phoenix said so himself. As soon as Kristoph said that it was a fake, Phoenix pointed out that the only way he would be able to know that it was a fake would be if he was the one who took it from the crime scene himself. The only one who would be able to tell if it was real or not would be the killer.
Yeah, it wasn’t evidence, it was a placeholder to prove a point, just like the so-called (haha minty breath incoming) scrap of paper that was the recorded yellow envelope.
i remember when i first started playing aa4 thinking "bro wtf happened to phoenix there's no way i'm gonna like this game"
but then they went and made him a good dad and im just like. SHIT. THAT'S MY ONE WEAKNESS.
A good dad who uses his kid as a tool in back alley poker games
And I hate dual destinies for rolling it back
@BitterOrange I meant how he went from a calm and collected Mia figure back into the blundering idiot in the original trilogy
@@thomaswang2223 Not really. While we see his "nervous" sprite from previous games, nobody actually comments on him being shocked or nervous? Plus, we get to see what Phoenic looks like as the Prosecutor in SoJ and he's pretty terrifying. So my headcanon has been that Phoenix normally keeps his unflappable attitude as a poker face, and that we only get to see past it when we play as him.
@@thomaswang2223 Keep in mind that in court, and as a lawyer, people's freedom (and considering the death penalty seems to exist in Phoenix's world, their lives in some cases) the stakes are much higher than they are in a poker game. Like, the games that he plays are stated not to be for real money, and even if he were to lose a match, his reputation would still be of a very good player that people can challenge if they want to see if they can beat him. So, it makes sense he would be easier to fluster and more nervous and prone to being a 'blundering idiot' when he's a lawyer.
Even considering that though, he's still a lot more mature and confident than he was back in those days.
I hope we get to see more of Phoenix & Trucy and their Daddy-Daughter moments. They’re so adorable together!
YOU! I KNOW YOU! You're that guy who comments on every Pixel Partners video!
@@YourDyingStar Thanks for noticing me!
We are long overdue for a case starring Phoenix with Trucy filling the assistant role, honestly.
I also recognise you from Lucahjin’s videos! :D
I'd love to see the anime come back and do the the cases from the 4th 5th and 6th games
Phoenix is both an adorable dad and terrifying.
Paula's artstyle is so appealing
I know people are mixed about apollo justice but i love Phoenix's charater. He goes from his old joking self to calm, calculating, serious in seconds seamlessly. He knows when to be serious and when to make a joke but always seem off like he has a different motive and or plans
Honestly, I was fine with Apollo and Hobo Wright. If anything, I'm a bit sad that most of his characterization as Hobo Wright was removed when he returned to being a lawyer.
the out of job guy on a tuesday afternoon
apollo justice is the best thing that happened to his character, ace attoerney fans are just whiny babies who hate change and interesting developments.
Okay but imagine not knowing anything about Ace Attorney and watching this man and his daughter give off vibes so malicious you take psychic damage.
Better the yet, imagine someone who played Ace Attorney only until T&T and wondering why Phoenix looks homeless, why he acts so serious now, why he has a daughter, and why both of them look possessed at the end of the comic.
Low key, yeah. I bought the trilogy on steam a few weeks back, working my way through a few cases, find this comic and go 'is this a alt future? ' scroll through the comments and no this is CANON?!
Bro, what happened to my noble dumbass?!
Why is he homeless?!
@@myliqlanier6329 He's homeless because he won a poker game
I'm not even joking, that's technically how it all started
@@myliqlanier6329so like basically he adopted truce (his daughter) bc her dad died or abandoned her (i just got the apollo justice trilogy like a few weeks ago and i'm only on turnabout serenade) and i'm not gonna spoil why phoenix looks homeless but when you play apollo justice then you would be really surprised but about trucy's biological dad apparently he was a magician? i dunno the rest since i'm still on turnabout serenade (and about the ending trucy has really good eye sight so phoenix brings her to his poker games)
@@Ashdoodles I can't wait to get to the apollo games and see how many times they acuse a literal child of murder
@@Ashdoodles Turnabout Succession is the best case in the series
I like how Paula paid attention to detail because
Look at how many chips Phoenix has. 5 big, 4 small.
They point out in the first trial that they played with 9,000 'points' apiece, and that the smaller chips are the thousand point chips. So, this is the start of a match, Phoenix has 4,500 points.
7000 points all together, and 3500 a piece, but otherwise this is spot on
@@roninwarriorsfan Ah, guess I remembered wrong.
Trucy's poker face is adorable...even better with the SFX. X3
She can poke her face with the best of them.
I love that this is actually a cannon event (plural) man kept bringing this small child to perceive the others tells to win poker
"W-why'd her eyes turn red?"
“Don’t worry about it its nothing”
*Sounds of Satan's Summoning*
Whoever saw Trucy do that face, I bet they usually thought that her latest sugar high just hit and would tell Phoenix just that, which he would then use as a cover for what they're actually doing.
And who say AA Defense Lawyers couldn't use underhanded tactics lmao.
He wasn't a lawyer at the time
According to Professor Means, nobody
So this has been their source of income for seven years ...
Never seen such a face from Tracy in the last part. It like she staring into my past.
She is ✨perceiving✨
@@miss-laea XD
phoenix wright boss music was not what I was expecting today
why is phoenix only cool when he's jobless
He's always been cool, he just doesn't seem as cool when we can read his thoughts
@@kuroser353It's like impostor syndrome, but for video game protagonists.
WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT “POKE HER FACE”
So sweet and chill as well as a decent dub. 😊
However, I am not playing cards with them. 😨😅
Your dubs over Paula's comics and animations continues to be a match made in heaven!
Don't play cards with a magician and a dude with truth glasses
I do have to wonder how that looked. People coming to defeat the undefeatable Phoenix Wright in a game of poker and he just has a little girl with him. And no one assumed he was using her to cheat at the game.
A good rendition of the comic here, the voices work nicely and on point with the tone of it. It did rather go from zero to sixty at the end there as well.
Can't wait to finally play the Apollo Justice Trilogy to understand the context of this scene.
During the years Phoenix wasn't a lawyer he was a professional poker player.
Though Trucy was the one actually winning him the games because she has extremely good eyesight and can see when people are nervous through hardly noticeable tells.
@@Exlayer-pk8hyah yes, Phoenix Wright's daughter, Truck
And he still a better father that Enigma
I was under the impression he used the magatama, not Trucy’s perceive ability, but this is a really amusing concept
@Yugee Yeah, seeing that scene again because of the new Trilogy, I guess I must have either forgotten that part and speculated, or wondered if he used it to win against Zak. I don't know why it wouldn't show up as a single lock though considering the results are intentionally hidden
Imagine playing a game of poker & this small child is just staring into your soul the entire time while her dad is mysteriously predicting your every move
aww Trucy is so cute
Trucy is such a cute beans TwT
From adorable to terrifying
I like how this is both adorable and disarming, and then immediately threatening.
Hobo Phoenix Wright was his best arc🤣
She's gonna send us to the shadow realm
I love this comic version of hobo Phoenix lol
LMAO, if you know, you know.
0:06 that is an adorable ass child!
*YES!!*
These are ALWAYS a Gift!~
I accidentally forgot to feed my kids and now their not moving
Spoilers
I love how phoenix canonically had this man declared guilty of murder (even though he got away), stole his daughter, and used her to win poker
To be fair it was more “Zak got himself declared guilty by not mentioning the exonerating evidence he had on him, left his young daughter to be raised by some lawyer he barely knew, and then never came back for her as she had to grow up with said disbarred lawyer”
He took everything in the crime hearing 😞
Your art style is so amazing it reminded me of “ghost and molly mcgee” the tv show
look into the artist
oh boy wait till they find out
your art of him has made me yet again realize how much i love dilfs.
WAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE THIS COMIC
Love it, Phoenix is a great dad! :) Love your dubs
You've been dubbing this artist's comics, and I would like to say that their artstyle is very nice to look at, and props to how the artist draws everyone's eyes.
I love me some baby Trucy content
Sir I accept your challenge and wager…a penny
Well that escalated quickly.
*ARE YOU READY!?* 😂 *i’m sorry, it gaves me those vibes*
I was waiting for this since I read the comics
I don't think she's be able to tell if I'm bluffing or not, I smile almost all the time, and I'm always trying to bluff in poker that when I'm serious it's hard to tell, but I do have one tell
That's no child! That's a Mamodo!
Phoenix in court: I will achieve a perfet not guilty with no false evidence nor cheating because I am the purest lawyer on this planet!
Phoenix in every-day life: Screw the law, I only care about my own life.
He's my favorite hobo
Oh no he's trying to play Magic the Gathering for ante! But that's illegal in most american states!
Not in Japanifornia
I legit would love to image they betting snacks in these games lol
Apollo’s power would be great for Poker
This is everything I love about AA4 in a nutshell
This wordplay is perfect.
But it's amplified by how utterly adorable Trucy is. 💚
I missed you 😂
And so, Trucy became meguca.
I thought the background at the end was a Balatro refrence... but this was uploaded a year ago...
now i get it.
Do you ante up in poker? I thought it was just "raise"?
She reminds me of hat kid from a hat in time.
Gonna make this an animation later on?
Dear liberals. If I'm supposedly heterosexual, then why is hobo phoenix making me feel funny down there?
here is a like and a comment
Phoenix had sex!? What!?
no, trucy's adopted lmao
@@naan000 HA! That's hilarious! Reminds me of Harvey Birdman when he meet his great something grandson.
Why do I hear boss music..?
wait he has a kid!?
EZ
I don't get it O-O
As much as I hate that game Hobo Phoenix is the best Phoenix
I don't hate it perse...
But the only reason I played AJ is cuz it continued the trilogy...
And I did like most of the characters... but the filler cases were pretty meh.
Turnabout Trump and Turnabout Succession were the only good cases.
The mason system was amazing though.
