I don't get why you guys are so mad about his voice. He has given the time and effort to create this video to let us learn the encounter and understand it better. Respect the people making the videos IMO.
Jumping maybe used to avoid the damage you get from the blight on the ground. Don't know if this was meant to be or just a tic. But hey, it could just help the healers.
Adding my name of support to Tankspot and this commentator, with thanks! Any moron wanting to criticise Tankspot should kindly post a link to the videos They made that are of somehow superior quality, as well as of the most up to date content. If there was anything better and more up to date than Tankspot, I'd be watching it.
@Cholesterol I was talking about the Blighted Spores debuff the one that gives you damage over time, not the other one; "Inoculated" debuff, the debuff that increases your resistance against festergut's "Pungent Blight".
@evellyness - He means each tank classes survival cooldowns. Warriors have Shield Wall, among others, Druids have Survival Instincts among others, Paladins have Divine Protection among others, not to mention any trinket cooldowns such as from Ick's Thumb. It's not being evasive, it's assuming that the tanks know what cooldowns their class would use in order to survive the increased damage.
people cry too much, ignore them...jumping is fine, get over it people...it doesn't change the movies quality or view-ability in any way. Very good video, Thank you very much Tankspot.
Very well explained. Obviously it was all written and thought out before hand and simply read through it. But gives a very good idea to those that never trekked that way before.
What are your other healers? We've been using shield wall+pain supression+holy priest wings. Other possible ones are holy pally wings, trinkets, maybe even bloodlust/heroism.
@Hosislo As a melee all you need to do is dps, and if TWO people inside melee get a spore, ONE of you will have to run out to the ranged dps and let them stack on you, so the spore explodes on them and they get the debuff. after your spore has exploded on them, you may run back into melee and continue dpsing
@Ouwen11 if you have around a level 50 or over character you can see that you will have one or more skills that give u lots of benefits like extra damage or attack speed etc. but they have a large cooldown. In raids people dont use those abilities until certain parts of the fight so that when they "pop their cooldowns" they do the most damage and crap like that.
@ melody, With the high number of addons and UI modifiers that he is using, I would guess he is probably using some kind of gaming hand pad that isn't a qwerty keyboard, moving around key bindings. So the placement on the screen's UI is irrelevant.
It’s wild watching this video after playing classic…I was doing 2-3k more dps than the highest dps here on my prot Paladin (not trying to parse)…. Kinda crazy how much we have all improved over the years
I'm wondering what addons are used too, specifically the debuff timers for the target & the combat text display. @jbbuena I think it is MSBT, unless it's ScrollingCombatText. You would have to do a lot of customizing with it.
@IntenseSNEZZLIN Technically its a Debuff, because its icon has a red border and it is listed separate from your everyday raid buffs, but it is as you say, a good thing, so no one should be surprised if a raid member calls it a buff.
er, also @ melody, stoneblood is flasked because some guilds ask that all raid members use stoneblood seeing as this fight deals a high amount of raid-wide damage.
@starwing84 If your raid members aren't getting inoculated from the spores the pungent blight will kill them. Get atleast 2-3 stacks of inoculation and pungent blight will only hit the raid for a minimal amount.
what tanks are reccomended for him or might have an easier time living thru him. We had a warrior and a druid tank but the warrior tank was pretty much getting killed towards the end before the healers could get off a heal. are warriors tanks not preferd for him or was it a issue with our tank in general.
Colin, even assuming 1 is some combat talent to increase energy regen, which for some reason I doubt, that does answer any of the other questions. Caps = Win btw
He says you can ensure vile gas won't hit someone in melee range if you have enough ranged.... exactly how many ranged does it take to ensure that it won't?
When the gas spore occures i expect people who are under that specific spell are to move away from the other raid members or did i misunderstand something there?
depends on how many ranged/meelee you have. Generally you need 2 groups, 5 ppl standing on boss 5 spread out from boss but somewhat close to each other so they can gather to spore
Question...When the Off Tank taunts off the MT at the 8 stack mark should the OT have popped CD i.e Shield wall ?? as he has 3 stacks of his buff at the time our MT gets 8 stacks on the shadow resistance.
how many ranged do you need to ensure that melee doesnt get Vile Gas? that wasnt said in the movie and its a key part of the fight can someone tell me please.
Hi didnt say that. In fact everybody who is RANGED may be the target of Vile Gas(?) that makes you and everybody in 8 yards vomit (disorients you). That is why most healers should be in melee range and only one (two in 25 man) healers should stay with ranged DPS
guide awesome as always, but the jumping is bad generally because when you jump form point A to point B, from the server's point of view you're in point A until you land, in which moment server updates your position to point B. hence if you are used to jump all the time and happen to be on encounter where you need to run form something and you jump out of it, you're in fact standing in it for duration of jump
My guild is going to be attempting this boss for the first time on Saturday and I had a quick question. How often does Vile Gas seem to get cast and how do you know you have "enough ranged dps" so that it never ends up on your melee. Will it always target a ranged target if there is one available?
You know that the proc you get from Revered IcC healing ring is called "Item - Icecrown Healing Ring buff" Yeh its something along those lines made me lol when i saw it, i love how original blizz is now
Thanks for the video! We are having trouble getting our warrior tank to survive through his turn of the boss's increased damage, his cooldowns just dont last long enough, we do have someone giving him pain suppression as well, any suggestions?
My comment wasn't in response to the author of the video. Earlier someone suggested that the melee stack with the tank, and attack from the front. I was replying to this person.
if the melee was to stack on the tank, the boss would be able to parry their moves because they would be attacking from the front. It's pretty bad when a boss parries someones moves because it can reset the Cooldown on the boss' white swings .. so you'd essentially be giving the boss haste. Not to mention the loss of dps from parries.
9,410,000 / 300 sec (Assuming the 5 minute enrage is correct). 9,410,000 / 300 sec = 31366.67 DPS output from entire raid. Assuming 2 tanks and 5 DPS, tanks doing 2K DPS (which will actually be more due to the Gastric Bloat debuff on the tank), 5 DPS need to do 5473.33 DPS each. With 2 tanks and 6 DPS, 4561.11 DPS each. Assuming your tanks are taunting at 8 stacks each, typical fights end before the second tank has accumulated his 8 stacks, which makes the fight less than 180 seconds long avg
@HonestAbe1077 Not exactly. Since then the boss will then parry alot of attacks from the melee so he will hit the tanks more often. It is better to just have People in melee range
Tysm this is rlly helpful im a tank and this part is vry hard 4 me the raids im in usualy have to stop at these 2 but your videos rlly turn every intimidating thing that use to cause me to panic and screw things up into easilu understood mechanics that will Make sure i can do this boss right gtg watch yur other abomination vid cause i also have some difficulty with him.
an H is added to mean We Have Owned the Overbearing Task seeing as have and the are not main words to highlight it can be removed and the other meaning as onThinIce57 said which is the origin of the word.
I used to love tanking this fight with my guild. They had me (DK) soak the damage at three stacks, since Icebound Fortitude followed by Vampiric Blood was apparently better than whatever the Paladin OT had. I miss this fight.
i do it to sometimes if i've got a adrenaline rush from a fight i need to work hard on, i'm usually hitting buttons 6-8 times between global cd's, hitting the jump button just gives you something extra to do lol
I don't get why you guys are so mad about his voice. He has given the time and effort to create this video to let us learn the encounter and understand it better. Respect the people making the videos IMO.
Looks fairly straightforward. Two tanks, switch off when debuff stacks up to eight stacks.
Jumping maybe used to avoid the damage you get from the blight on the ground. Don't know if this was meant to be or just a tic. But hey, it could just help the healers.
Adding my name of support to Tankspot and this commentator, with thanks!

@Danicool2007 It's called recount and is used by all raiders in WoW.
Very well explained. Obviously it was all written and thought out before hand and simply read through it. But gives a very good idea to those that never trekked that way before.
@Danicool2007 In case u didnt look at the date, this was when Plagueworks were just been opened, u didnt have ur epics from further in ICC.
Very nicely explained. Will use this tactic to lead my guild for tonight's attempt at this. Keep those vids coming!
the % on the items that drop on the end, can you tell what that addon is?
thanks in advance, great movie once again :)
What are your other healers? We've been using shield wall+pain supression+holy priest wings. Other possible ones are holy pally wings, trinkets, maybe even bloodlust/heroism.

Kinda crazy how much we have all improved over the years
which addon are you using for health bars & enemy bars???
I'm wondering what addons are used too, specifically the debuff timers for the target & the combat text display.
@jbbuena I think it is MSBT, unless it's ScrollingCombatText. You would have to do a lot of customizing with it.
Really wish I could find the name of the nameplates addon he's using but sorting through the comments about jumping and shit is overwhelming.
@tylerconnolly Make sure whoever has the "melee spore" is standing DIRECTLY on top of the tanks or the tanks may miss an inoculation.
@IntenseSNEZZLIN Technically its a Debuff, because its icon has a red border and it is listed separate from your everyday raid buffs, but it is as you say, a good thing, so no one should be surprised if a raid member calls it a buff.

@starwing84
If your raid members aren't getting inoculated from the spores the pungent blight will kill them. Get atleast 2-3 stacks of inoculation and pungent blight will only hit the raid for a minimal amount.
Addon Question: How do you have your UI with one portion at the bottom (with Recount and your group health bars) like that?
what tanks are reccomended for him or might have an easier time living thru him. We had a warrior and a druid tank but the warrior tank was pretty much getting killed towards the end before the healers could get off a heal. are warriors tanks not preferd for him or was it a issue with our tank in general.

He says you can ensure vile gas won't hit someone in melee range if you have enough ranged.... exactly how many ranged does it take to ensure that it won't?
@MegaMan306: The black portions on the sides are his blocked out chat boxes.
If you have 2 spores stacked, you do get 2 stacks of Blighted Spores right?
When the gas spore occures i expect people who are under that specific spell are to move away from the other raid members or did i misunderstand something there?
what's the addon called that shows the boss' healthframe and castingbar above his head?
ty for the vid. what addon are you using here to show the raid frames?
how do you zoom out so far...my resolution is maxed and doesn't go nearly that far
Is that combat text MSBT? How do you make it so your crits appear above the target?
depends on how many ranged/meelee you have. Generally you need 2 groups, 5 ppl standing on boss 5 spread out from boss but somewhat close to each other so they can gather to spore
@harpsichord1
there has to be 3 people standing out, that means 2 ranged DPS and 1 healer :)
Question...When the Off Tank taunts off the MT at the 8 stack mark should the OT have popped CD i.e Shield wall ?? as he has 3 stacks of his buff at the time our MT gets 8 stacks on the shadow resistance.
What filming software does TankSpot use for recording its guides?
how many ranged do you need to ensure that melee doesnt get Vile Gas? that wasnt said in the movie and its a key part of the fight can someone tell me please.
how many ppl is it safe to stand in melee?
and how far do others need to stand , in order not to break the "safe" group?
hit cap?, i saw a miss. also what do u use for the boss health bar above its head?
Are the spores really important or is it just a thing thats in it.
Hi didnt say that. In fact everybody who is RANGED may be the target of Vile Gas(?) that makes you and everybody in 8 yards vomit (disorients you). That is why most healers should be in melee range and only one (two in 25 man) healers should stay with ranged DPS
if i understood correctly as tank i only have to taunt of every 8-9 stacks right?
I understand why you jump, how can you do damage when you just woosh your daggers at the space between his legs?
guide awesome as always, but the jumping is bad generally because
when you jump form point A to point B, from the server's point of view you're in point A until you land, in which moment server updates your position to point B.
hence if you are used to jump all the time and happen to be on encounter where you need to run form something and you jump out of it, you're in fact standing in it for duration of jump
Is the inoculated buff absolutely necessary. Wont ranged need the buff too?
man this vid is so clear, oh wat spec is the rogue?
@shinfield13 what if to melees have one, does one of them have to run to the ranged?
what is the total dps for the raid that needs to be put out for this fight to be cleared?
My guild is going to be attempting this boss for the first time on Saturday and I had a quick question. How often does Vile Gas seem to get cast and how do you know you have "enough ranged dps" so that it never ends up on your melee. Will it always target a ranged target if there is one available?
what codec did you use to render this vid in HD?
What recording program do they use?
@NRC4486 Maybe you should try having sound on, instead of just watching the vid.
How do they zoom that far out?
@ballz87deep how is that a pro tip and whats wrong with jumping?
@ghember fury is very easy. two main attacks and a proc to fit in during a fee gcd or maybe execute.
where the healers should stand?
You know that the proc you get from Revered IcC healing ring is called "Item - Icecrown Healing Ring buff"
Yeh its something along those lines made me lol when i saw it, i love how original blizz is now
Thanks for the video! We are having trouble getting our warrior tank to survive through his turn of the boss's increased damage, his cooldowns just dont last long enough, we do have someone giving him pain suppression as well, any suggestions?
Ok so if i am a meele dps on this encounter all i have to do is stand still and do as much dps as possible like the rogue did here?
@GuitarRoxz incorrect
2 spores = more damage, still 1 stack
what unit frame and combat text addons do u use?
any1 know what nameplate addon this is?
Keybinding Q, E, R & F are even more accessible than 1, 2, 3, etc. Not saying that is what his setup is, but you have more keys than your numbers.
My comment wasn't in response to the author of the video. Earlier someone suggested that the melee stack with the tank, and attack from the front. I was replying to this person.
Does it matter if u kill Precious before engaging battle with Festergut?
@charlesming its combat.... would be much more dmg with mutilate anyway....
and why is he doing the armor debuff himself? :O
Nice, video. And he spoke well and clear :D Awesome work.
if the melee was to stack on the tank, the boss would be able to parry their moves because they would be attacking from the front. It's pretty bad when a boss parries someones moves because it can reset the Cooldown on the boss' white swings .. so you'd essentially be giving the boss haste. Not to mention the loss of dps from parries.
What ever happened to Ciderhelm?
What's the point of HD if the jumping makes this video unwatchable.
Why were you jumping?
Should the mellee dps go to range if he gets apore?
9,410,000 / 300 sec (Assuming the 5 minute enrage is correct).
9,410,000 / 300 sec = 31366.67 DPS output from entire raid.

@Izzr0d because not everyone is a tank, other people need to know how to do the encounter too.
It's probably very exciting pressing your 2 and 3 buttons, but could you calm down and stop jumping so much?
Did he mention WHY he was constantly jumping? I may have missed that.
Seems like an easy fight, gonna try it tonight ;)
why do you not mention the seriousness of the spores...? if hey arent dealt with properly, its a wipe
@HonestAbe1077 Not exactly. Since then the boss will then parry alot of attacks from the melee so he will hit the tanks more often. It is better to just have People in melee range
wouldn't it be best just for everyone to stack on the tank?
Tysm this is rlly helpful im a tank and this part is vry hard 4 me the raids im in usualy have to stop at these 2 but your videos rlly turn every intimidating thing that use to cause me to panic and screw things up into easilu understood mechanics that will
Make sure i can do this boss right gtg watch yur other abomination vid cause i also have some difficulty with him.
So for a melee dps it's... Stand behind and nuke. Where have I seen this before...
What guild is this and on what server?
dps required on 10m?
i agree. why must he jump that much?
1.30 I didn't understand internal external dmg
@FeifelMortress Not really... if it teaches tactics wouldnt you use those tactics? like how he said about the spore and stuff........ so.. not useless
Holy Paladin, Resto Druid, Disc Priest.. we are going back on Thursday, hopefully we can get it this week :(
an H is added to mean
We Have Owned the Overbearing Task seeing as have and the are not main words to highlight it can be removed and the other meaning as onThinIce57 said which is the origin of the word.
whats the name of the song pls ?
I used to love tanking this fight with my guild. They had me (DK) soak the damage at three stacks, since Icebound Fortitude followed by Vampiric Blood was apparently better than whatever the Paladin OT had. I miss this fight.
He is explaining way more then our raid leaders, were normally like " DPS on there, Tanks there, range this Healer there, ok lets go" xD
Why this dude jumps all the time? And why does he keep tapping same ability whole fight?
this rogue doing hard job with his dps rotation
i do it to sometimes if i've got a adrenaline rush from a fight i need to work hard on, i'm usually hitting buttons 6-8 times between global cd's, hitting the jump button just gives you something extra to do lol
if u have a rogue and same rotation over and over u can jump it gets boring in a tank and spankish kind of fight
Dunno, I think his voice sounds cool, 'specially when he says, "Good luck."
No lagg at all how come? I have gigantic lagg in icc10 :*(
