I discovered this band because someone threw a broken mix cd on the ground in a parking lot and i was able to find out the list of songs that were on it. I was very lucky that day.

I used to listen to this song as a senior’s anthem in 2003 as school was letting out. I still can recall , can even smell, those chilly spring nights in the back seat with my then girlfriend and early May mornings driving in listening to this for my last few times to stroll the halls. We were kings! That was only the beginning of life…

This is a band that won’t be understood even by people in rock heavy metal circles but will be understood by the generation it was released in to us this album saved us and gave us comfort that we weren’t the only ones who were feeling this way

MTV used to be such a good way to discover new music, because of MTV, I discovered this Band and bought the album, crazy how time just flew by, I'm 27 now

A BAND FOR HISTORY TO NEVER FORGET
This band was in the background when I was on video chat on house arrest. They got me through the 11 month unable to go outside and love my homies. I had my grandparents though. We watched western movies and ate twk dinners alot. Turned 18 with that ankle monitor on. That was in Illinois Got off that. So I moved to my dad's house. Watched as California went to double shit again. Moved to my mama house in Idaho. Went through shit again. Was homeless in the college town. I came down here and my life a western movie. One street town. I stay to myself and I got a girlfriend. She has a son. Love that little guy.
This song brought me out of my depression this band knows the words to help anybody in life

In all honesty it should be a crime how underrated Smile Empty Soul is. Personally I think a major reason is due to SES being the type of band whos songs becomes the voice for people who are struggling, saying the things some people are for one reason or another too scared to say. I Want My Life, Stay Alive, Don't Ever Leave, With This Knife. I could go on about the amount of times these past few years I've struggled so bad, but I've found comfort when I heard THIS

This album saved my life as well. It really brought me through some hard times and I can't wait to see Smile Empty Soul in June. :)
I bought their cd a long time ago, however my CDs were stolen. I enjoy this band and would often go walking and listening to this song and others by Smile Empty Soul on my CD player.
This song was and still is literally the voice of reason when my life is crazy, instantly makes everything easier to deal.

First got this cd when I was 7 years old, my dad liked the band so I liked them. Never really connected with the songs personally until I hit high school, and then even more a year or two ago. Hands down best album/band in my musical collection.

My parents split 5 years ago when I was 16... it's been 5 years and it seems to still bother me even though it's not at the forefront of my thought process anymore. Ever since it seems like it's been an up hill climb to fight for a better life despite the bitterness that event instilled in me. Trying to keep the faith my mother placed in me, losing it eventually.
I want my life back from the anger and grieving. These guys, Seether and Alter Bridge seemed to save me to this day.

I too am joining the service. I leave shortly. But I do not want to anymore. I will do it but I will be away from the one I love and my friends and family for well over a year. I am afraid of what might happen upon my return. This is honestly the first time I have been afraid.

Don't give up y friend. You are loved, Never by who you expect it from at first, but if it's one thing I've learnt from this band....it's that no matter how hard it gets, keep faith in the lord...We are all imperfect, but with him by our side, no one can be against us...afterall Jesus is all we really need...the rest is what we want.

Speaking of pretty, I've been called this before. I don't necessarily take offence to it it's more of a universal truth, for a band who claims to have no soul, it's sure is a soulful song, I guess 'The I Want My Life' chrous can be related to anything from a controlling spouse who doesn't let you go out to a bar on Saturday night to catch up with mates to the detrimental effects a drug like methamphetamine or crack has on a person's life. Either way, it's interesting to read everyone's personal interpretation of the song.

This song reminds me of how emo I was in high school. As if High school was even remotely difficult compared to everything that happens afterward LOL This song helped me get through "tough" times but now that I'm actually in tough times, this song does not express my desired emotion. I now prefer a "heavy metal" attitude. Don't let this whiny stuff keep you in a "feel sorry for me" mode. Do or do not, there is no try!

I lost my dad a week from my birthday last may. I've been unemployed for 8 months and I can't even get a job at Mcdonalds and I used to be a store manager at a restaurant. My cat got hit by a car 2 days ago. I'm 25 and I don't see myself making through another year. I feel like I'm losing my mind and I can't sleep. Everything used to be great. I want my life back.

@CheersBros Hi Cheers! I have felt the same way a long time ago. It was really tough to cope with everything going on around me, I had no friends, was way to shy to even speak to a girl. No one I could trust. But someone once told me that when I grow up, I would understand that Mankind will always try to do everything with their own strength, understanding, and reason. Now, I'm only 21 now, but I already know what it means. It means to not depend on others to live a happy life. trust in God.

i want my life back. i changed class from a very good class to a bad one, just cause i thought my friends in the bad class really were my friends... but a year after i switched class, they just ignored me and kind of bullied me. at this time , i had lost my friends in the other class. and now there is just a half year left of the school before high school for me. im strogn enough to go through a half year! and when high school start , im gonna make sure i get some real friends. this is my life.
I see where you're coming from. I've seen what bullying can do to a young person's life. There was more to it than this, but short story short a life was ended, it was heartbreaking to say the least and the effect it had on a family members life contributed to this, I was working as a landscaping apprentice at the time and was using a gerni to clean out the grass clippings and a dirt build up from under the deck of a Hog Zero Turner it was my bosses pride and the Dandenong run as he called it, we went into Doveton as well, we did this every 2 weeks or so, the reason I bring this up is my sister had to push past the pain and continue her schooling with her Cert 3 in becoming a Beautician (It could of included hair dressing) anyway her mate was doing it as well so it's understandable why she dropped out and ended up pursuing Maccas where she did the drive thru and took orders as the Maccas check out woman she was fairly efficient at her job mind you but her boss was most likely jealous and gave her a hard time, a hint of unprofessional behaviour in the work place as i like to call it, I'd would count this bullying is my point, her other manager I think had a more respectful attitude towards her.
