Looks like it's last use was as a B&B. I used to run one in Plymouth many years ago and the inside layout was somewhat similar. The sides of the stairways are boarded up for fire insurance requirements and to stop drunks falling or being pushed over the sides. Our bar was very profitable - dingy but profitable. We used to let our rooms to some rather shifty looking people, and also as one-nighters to sailors when the big ships were in town, so they had somewhere to take the local working girls they picked up for the night. It was the type of place that Norton would probably stay at if he was in town. Great video as always, keep it up lads.
44 Years old that camper van, Last MOT was 2018 and it failed on rotted sills but then passed the next day, Hopefully it doesn't rot away cant be many of them left now 🙁

Agreed on the exterior vs interior. Looks grand outside but the inside was rank. I wonder what it actually was? I don't think it looks like a hotel, flats, house or even old people's home.
headlight on the bar, Transit Mk6 (2000-2006) another great find, what a cool building it must have been once long ago, i do think with the signs on doors, self closers, fire extinguishers, the tea pots and a bar its was probably a hotel, there was maybe small flats attached for workers, transit camper mot expired 2019 and SORN so someone loves it

You can knock down building things attached to houses. You often find the end terrace in a row located in an area where there's lots of subsidence starts to collapse and ends up having to be knocked down. What was the interior wall of the end house becomes the external end wall of the terrace. It's a pain in the arse to do though. I think I'd be quite concerned if my house was attached to a crumbling old pile like that. It can only lead to issues.
@@mikees60 Bit in poor taste, but yes, technically. I don't think I'd be shelling out for 23 Cromwell Street personally. That kind of sh*t puts a stain on a place that will never wash off. :(
Good idea, but it's a complete rotbox. It would cost thousands just to strip it down and make the chassis road legal. Then you have to build a new interior
@@richieb7692 Have faith in the lads! I have to say a 'Hell on Earth' video series of them actually attempting this daunting project whilst continuing with the usual banter would probably be more winner than the late Michael Winner - even if the camper is actually a lost cause! :P

Might be an idea to buy that camper, prices are on the up. fit a 2.5 diesel engine from a mk3-5 for fuel economy and the ability to run on used vegetable oil using a twin tank system assuming its bosch injector pump.

Old MK1 bullnose transit, rare old sight now. The nose was originally added to accommodate the York Diesel engine, but they are shite, so you’d want a 2.9 Cosworth V6 in there instead. Norton is right though, it has had a new engine put in it, that’s a Ford Pinto. It’s registered as a 2L petrol and the 2L petrol engines that came in them were Essex V4s. Guessing the Pinto has a bit more oomph to deal with the extra weight, and will actually fit since it’s a bullnose.
That plasterboard n shite was called modernisation and generally happened in the 60s. Noone wanted the old traditional look they wanted straight lines. Flat n atomic. It just kept on revealing.
What a weird place grand on outside definitely flats or hotel with the fire regulations stuff but I go with hotel due to the bar upstairs could be staff flats
