I adored Storm's original costume, first seen in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975). While the wings are problematic - Edna Mode taught us NO CAPES - it makes her look magnificent when she's in flight.
The guy in the cape aka Gladiator ia a very interesting character. He's basically Superman, and he's as powerful as he believes he is. The nature of his power is the faith he has in his ideals and himself, in order to defeat him one must try and sway him from his beliefs.
8:30 Storm's claustrophobia used to be a major part of her character. During the Suez Crisis, when she was about 5, a plane crashed into her home, killing her parents and burying her in the rubble next to her mom's body. She grew up as an orphan on the streets of Cairo. She was trained as a master pickpocket/thief. To this day, she always carries a set of lockpicks wherever she goes. Her claustrophobia was so crippling that she would often need to be rescued by teammates in the middle of a battle. She's still claustrophobic, but she's learned how to push through it (You may recall her hesitation before stepping inside of Forge's machine). Personally, I wish that they'd kept her claustrophobia as her main weakness in the comics. She's grown to become so powerful now that I think that writers have a difficult time giving her quality challenges to face. She often 1-shots a lot of opponents (even other Omegas). Even though her body is as frail as a normal humans, her powers are able to protect her from incoming attacks now. From massive lightning bolts and hurricane-force winds to electromagnetic energy shields. Most writers these days tend to give her some type of philosophical battle to overcome, or use her as a "battery" for another character to defeat an opponent. She's just so powerful now that she doesn't really need to be on a team. That's what makes me so curious about the upcoming Avengers series, as she will be on the team (for the second time in her history). Edit: I forgot to mention that Storm can also use magic. She comes from an ancient line of powerful sorceress priestesses, all distinguished by their white hair/blue eyes. One of them was Sorceress Supreme (like Dr. Strange). It often skips generations, though, as Storm's mom didn't inherit the traits. Storm's speeches in battle are similar to magic users calling out spells. she often invokes the names of her priestess ancestors, as well as the goddess that showed her bloodline favor, and asks them to grant her the strength to defeat her foes. Something else I forgot to mention: Magneto was right when he said that Storm was "the closest thing to a goddess", because she actually is a demigod. She has an ability called "godhead" that makes her powers grow whenever others believe in her. Once, all of Wakanda prayed to her and her powers grew to god levels. In a future timeline, she invoked her own name alongside her ancestors, and moved an entire solar system a vast distance.
Storm has suffered from claustrophobia since childhood due to some traumatic events. This fear has come up many times during her trajectory in the series causing a lot of problems and hindering her. This is is the first time that she really faces and overcomes her phobia without succumbing to it.
I'm really loving your reactions!! to give you some context: most of these space people showed up during the phoenix saga in the previous seasons and that's how they got to meet the X-Men. Long story short, Lilandra's brother (and former Shiar emperor) was seeking a crystal that would give him godlike powers to rule the galaxies as he pleased. Jean as the vessel of the Phoenix Force (a powerful cosmic entity) along with the X-Men, put a stop to his mad plans. Many episodes later, in the end of the last season, Professor X is attacked by Geyrich and gets close to death, however, his crush Lilandra takes him to space in order to try and save him. The old series ends with Xavier being taken and no one ever knew about his status until now.
Storm's Transformation in the outer atmosphere had me screaming, I love her so much❤. Her overcoming her claustrophobia and seeing that the adversary is simply mimicking the voices of humans and self hating mutants that say that "life would be better if they were normal" and rejecting it and finally loving herself completely was amazing.
This is definitely the most "Dr Who-esque" ep of the season. The adversary is basically a dr who villian if it were an alien instead of a demon. And Charles even has a "dr who-esque" matt smith style epic speech about co-existence. Obviously the difference being charles is a professor and teacher instead of a doctor
You'd be surprised of how much craziness there's in the X-Men universe 😂 Aliens, monsters, dinosaurs, extra dimensional beings, cosmic entities, demons, magic and cursed beings... and so much more. The live action movies tried to be more down-to-earth realistic and lost basically all this crazy fun stuff

Stunningly beautiful imagery this episode. And Storm, wow, such an incredible scene

Charles outing himself as submissive pup made me laugh for a full minute.
Milky Way ghetto gets me every time lol
Didn’t know Bran from GOT has a reaction channel 😂
