- This video shows how I trained my service dogs dissociation response, and it explains how you can train this in your own service animal. This video involves me talking a lot. Thank you so much for posting this. I have panic attacks with disassociation and people don’t understand how disruptive and difficult they are to recover from. My SD helps me SO much. Previously a panic attack like this would basically ruin the rest of my day. It would take hours for me to recenter and I would be so completely exhausted that I’d sleep the rest of the day. Now my SD can alert before things even get to that point and she shortens my recovery time to less than an hour. I really appreciate you sharing your training experience. 💖
There’s also ways to build perseverance in your dogs. My Service Dog and Me here on UA-cam has done a few videos about this, but that can be super helpful for things like a dissociation response. And it just gives the dog some fun and desensitizes them to stimuli and stuff. Good all around!
My last server dog washed out and I will be getting a prospect eventual. BUT DUDE I've been looking for a tutorial EVERYWHERE and this is the first time I've seen one thank you so much it was very clear and helpful❤️❤️❤️

This is what happens when I overstimulate with all my sensory issues. a lot of this happens with individuals on the autistic spectrum when they get overwhelmed in their environment, causes a lot of anxiety like a brain shutdown. before I had Freja,I would disassociate all the time in the environment. It was my way of getting through all the overstimulation. This is a very common thing with individuals on the autistic spectrum including Asperger’s syndrome. I like the way you explained how to train the task step-by-step. I am training Freja as an autism spectrum disorder assistance dog/Asperger’s syndrome.assistance dog. I really like your approach to task training. Freja is so inclined with my Asperger’s syndrome and how to respond to the anxiety part of it. I really need to train her on cueing the task instead of her doing it naturally.

This is very well explained, I really like how you broke it down into clear easy to understand steps. Do you have any advice for incorporating tasks into every day actions I have a hard time figuring out a way of doing that rather than just in training sessions and you’re totally right that of course I want my dog to be able to generalize the task I’m asking her to do to every day not just during our training.
A big part of it is just repetition outside of structured training sessions. It's hard to remember, but it makes a big difference!
