You got the right rifle! Don't listen to the self proclaimed experts.

You have the best video on the CZ 22 Hornet.

The .22 Hornet is an incredibly easy cartridge to reload. Use fire cased cartridges, resize only the neck, load it with 45 gr Sierra soft points and 12-13 grains of Lil Gun, find a recipe that your gun likes and you should be able to get sub MOA accuracy. And you'll have a great little deer rifle. Great caliber.

I agree. 40gr bullets and up, lil'gun is the way to go with the 22 hornet. I converted mine to K Hornet so my handloading could be taken to the next level. I use H110 with the K hornet as lil'gun is too erratic in the K. I can push my 35gr monolithics to 3600fps, but keep it closer to 34-3500fps. 40gr VMAX can be pushed to over 3100fps easy. Did I say you can also shot factory 22 hornet ammo just fine?
The 22 hornet family of cartridges is highly efficient, and has low noise and suppresses well. Lovely round, and with the right bullet you can take predators beyond 200yrds.

@@calangel Nosler used to make a 45 grain soft point that, to me, was superior to other manufacturers hornet bullets of the same general type. I believe the metal used might have been just a little tougher than the Sierra, etc., brands but at ranges around 150 yards and well placed throat shots I've killed deer that dropped in their tracts.
My only complaint about the Hornet is that gun makers don't give us an option for barrels with faster twist rates. I think most of them are around 1:14 or 1:16 and they just won't stabilize 50-65 grain .224 projectiles because of their OAL. Nonetheless, the Hornet is a prize and I dearly love the cartridge. And yes, I have shot a lot of factory stuff with mine. The Remington offerings are just so-so, as is their brass. The Winchester factory loads have always performed well but as you already know nothing can beat a carefully prepared hand load for an individual rifle.

@engineer gaming nope, still have both intact.
If you don't have a good handle on how each component choice affects the end product, then one shouldn't handload. I've been blessed to be fairly good at the concept and an even better student of those who handload before me.

@@58landman yes sir. That Nosler bullet you're talking about was constructed like their ballistic tip line of bullets with a thicker base on the copper jacket.
As for brass, I've actually had excellent luck with the Remington when I K'd the gun and fireformed them. As far as stabilization, the 1:16" twists will stabilize flat based bullets up to 50gr, and the 1:14" should even stabilize the 63gr flat based semipoint bullets from Sierra. As for modern boattails, yeah, you're SOL with the hornet's typically slow twist!
The 50gr Sierra blitz study point is an excellent choice in the 1:16" and 1:14" hornet with lil'gun if you want a heavy bullet!

Thanks for the video. I like your logic. I use 22 mag for varmints from cougar, coyotes , coons and cattle. I use 223 on longer range coyotes. 223 is alittle loud for my liking. So I am thinking 22 Hornet might be a good addition for protecting the farm animals with out all the noise.

Nice rifle. I'm planning on picking up one in 7.62x39 as soon as someone gets them back in stock. A 22 Hornet's on my bucket list tho.

Any Gun from CZ is a great choice. I think that the best Gun Manufacturer ever is a toss up between CZ and Beretta. Choosing either as the #1 means you are right.

I got the lux model last year when 22LR went scarce. Using S&B FMJs have all but replaced my 22 for small game. Shot one squirrel with a VMAX before switching. I'll save those for bigger predators.

Great gun mate. Especially with some of the new ballistic projectiles. Try the Nosler 35gr lead free with Hogdson Lil gun !

I have one that shoots Hornady 35-gr V-Max factory ammo into 3/8" groups at 100 yards. Woodchucks are its favorite tidbit. Mine will not load single rounds, as the extractor will not slip over the rim when chambering. It must come up from the magazine to fit under the extractor. A different gun might not have that problem.

You can ream it out to 22k hornet and still shoot the original ammo in it.. just to get more out of it when you start reloading.
