This is a cheat code for those who don't want to do, or not into video editing. Google is gonna do the work for you. Eventually as time goes on, this feature will only no doubt improve, but will eventually come to on device most likely in future Pixel devices.
You can still take a 4k video right beforehand and it's not much better. In fact, 1080p usually gives better noise reduction and quality in low light conditions
Not if you upload an iPhone video into Photos and then request video boost from an 8 Pro, which you can totally do. Google is stupidly restricting this Photos feature to the 8 Pro when they could easily allow it for all Pixel phones or charge subscribers a fee to unlock Video Boost. This has nothing to do with Pixel hardware.

I have pixel 8 pro dear, Its recoding hight quality row file like iPhone pro-res log file, Big file with so much data, then google server will process it, on iphone side you need video editing skills, so video boost have more useful to user and dont care about editing and special skills.

@@sugonmaballsyou're wrong. Not every phone can request video boost. It only works on main camera, it actually captures a ton of info at 300Mbit bitrate.
It's something really cool, but honestly it doesn't count much as a new function since it's not the smartphone itself that improves quality using AI, but rather you have to send it to their server and they do it.
I like how they artificially limited it to the 8 Pro, considering nothing is processed on the phone, and you can apply it to any videos shot on other phones already saved in Photos, but you must request the Boost from the 8 Pro. 🙄

no sir, its different with feature like magic editor or magic eraser, that you can use once you have the google one subs. video boost require you to have GCAM that tailored to P8P, since the video that is produced has special metadata.

so even you root it on any phone with GCAM, you would be gatekept by the cloud, since the metadata is not the same as from P8P
