You guys gotta remember that the other hunters in the raid have no experience in a dungeon. This was supposed to be a training exercise their first raid but turned into a disaster. On the other hand, jinwoo has tons of experience, so his judgement is legit compared to the others.
If you recall the last few episodes in S1 where its just 3 girls chatting in a cafe, they're discussing Kim Chul (the A-Rank tank) who is going to be promoted to a Raid Leader soon. This C-Rank Gate Raid was supposed to be his test where he leads a raid team without guidance or guild oversight and every decision is made by him. His every decision was taught to him by the guild. The Anime showcases his arrogance but in both the Novel and Manhwa he is portrayed to be more logical and pragmatic. All he wanted to do is to rush the Gate Boss so the Raid Party can return home quickly since it is known that in a Red Gate 1-day inside is 1 hour outside (not as compressed as a Hyperbolic Time Chamber where 1 Day outside is 365 days inside) So going in light was a legitimate strategy, the problem is that Ice Elves are intelligent creatures and can use tactics and ambushes to kill the Raiders. What he could have done differently is to have the "Weaker" Party hunt for food and setup a Base Camp where the "Stronger" party goes out to scout and use guerilla tactics to whittle down the enemy numbers. First and foremost priority in a Red Gate should be Survival and not rushing it. It was off screen, but Kim Chul's party had just defeated a Frost Giant when they were suddenly ambushed by the Ice Elves. They were exhausted and hungry since they obviously did not bring in any supplies (novel stated that they only had 1 rabbit to eat that they hunted inside the gate).
@jled787 I agree, and I've read the manwha, and bro was a bit arrogant because of the other hunters that were training him was gassing him up because he was a talented A ranker(don't get me wrong bro was strong) who was going to join the elite strike team of the white tiger guild if he did well in this raid but unfortunately. Ps. the others may be C-A rank but they are all fresh newbies without experience, while even before getting his power Jinwoo knew how to make judgements in the field
I'm glad Nasty brought it up. It was glossed over but that's exactly what Chul was doing. Can't waste resources on people who will just end up dying without making any notable contribution to their survival. We may call him an asshole because we know what Jin Woo is capable of. But from Chul's perspective, he NEEDS to trim the fat. It's also not about who's smart in this situation. They're trying to accomplish different things. Chul's trying to fight the boss to close the gate. Jin Woo's just trying to wait things out and keep his group safe.
It's basically like the high A and S-rank Heroes in One Punch Man looking at big monster and alien invasions and being all, "This is the most difficult challenge we've ever faces, we're going to need peak tactics and strategy for even a majority of us to survive." And Saitama just walks through the whole encounter so hard, no one even _notices_ that *he* was the one who corked it. Remember when he jumped back from the _goddamn _*_Moon_* and the S Heroes were all, "Ooh, the ship is listing! Tatsumaki, you've almost brought it down!" And Tatsumaki was like, "Dafuq? That wasn't me..."
Actually, Jin Woo wasn't waiting he just wanted to test his new ability and teach that E-Rank a lesson about being an E-Rank Hunter. Chul on the other hand was well, inexperienced and arrogant. Yes "Trimming the fat" is a viable tactic but it is not the right one in this situation, especially in a cold environment. Having more people especially when you are in a new environment means you can acquire more resources for heat and surveillance which drastically increases your survival. You survival cannot only hinge on strength when comes to a gate. Chul also lacked awareness of the danger he was in. Boss Monsters are all ways surrounded by allies that equal to their strength in numbers; which is taught in the hunter Academy as general basic must know knowledge.
Power does NOT relate to knowledge, remember ALL these hunters in this gate are new. Jinwoo on the other hand has been hunting for four years as a E rank. Usually higher ranks are more knowledgeable because they have had better training from big guilds or we have only seen high ranks who have had a good amount of battle experience, however all these hunters apart from Jinwoo are new, even the A rank. Great video btw :)
The thing about Chul and Sung's differing approach is that both makes sense when you look at it from their perspective. Chul(an A rank Tanker) can take a chance at clearing the dungeon since he is an A rank and the faster he clears the dungeon, the better it is for everyone who manages to survive(granted his motives are selfish, but the call makes sense if you think about it even if it's a dick move). Leaving the lower ranks behind is also logical even if unethical since even an A rank can only cover so much ground, and having to worry about a large group as the only one capable of tanking is rough. Sung can afford to wait the dungeon out because he has access to resources that can stave off the cold and then some.
7:06 "This man gets to go around doing whatever the hell he wants to do" The problem is that he is an S rank hunter, fact is that S ranked hunters are like Natural Disaster levels of strong, Tornados, Earthquakes, Tsunamis etc. There isn't really much, if anything, you can do when they rampage. All you can do is weather the storm.
Bears are edible in our world as well, but their meat might contain pretty horrible parasites. Also, eating their liver will straight up kill you due to having way too much vitamin A.
Intelligence here, is a matric for measuring Magical Ability, just like in games. This is also confirmed during Job Change Arc where he stated that he didn't have enough MP i.e Intelligence for a typical necromancer.
Season 2 has Arisen - Kim Chul is voiced by Chikahiro Kobayashi who also voices Legoshi (Beastars), Saichi (Golden Kamuy), Ranga (Slime), Shion (Hell’s Paradise), Ares (Danmachi), Bruno (Burn the Witch), Jormungand (Sacrifical Princess & the King of Beasts), Ex (Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess), Kaito (Scarlet Nexus), Commissioner R (The God of High School), Siberian (Sleepy Princess…), Leland (The Hero is Already Dead), Haruka (ID: Invaded), Sluder (Tales of Wedding Rings), Nagi (Mononogatari), Sigma (Dragon Quest), Clark (Great Pretender), Gears (Fairy Tail), Laios (The Most Notorious “Talker” Runs the World’s Greatest Clan), Monev (Trigun Stampede), Fushi (Chainsaw Man), Assault (Fire Force), Camael (The Devil is a Part-Timer), Yumehisa (Mushibugyou), Guile (The Strongest Sage with Weakest Crest), Wodca (My Isekai Life), Taichi (Days with My Stepsister), Gen (Blue Lock), Lang (JoJo), Shingi (Cardfight), & many more
People are too hard on the A rank hunter, in my opinion, he knew that if he brought the weak hunters with him, they would die 100%, by taking only the strong ones and telling the weak ones to hide and wait for them to kill the boss, he increased, by a little bit, the chances that the weak ones would survive. And his decision to go straight to the elves is not bad either, he also knew that they would not survive if they waited for the dungeon break.
I don't think he was thinking like that. This way of thinking would make him a likable character, which is not a good idea (due to spoiler). he wanted strong hunters around him so they wouldn't slow him down. His goal was to get to the final boss as soon as possible without any deadweight so that he can get out and join the guild. Based on his dialogue he clearly didn't care about anyone
@@Dave_of_Mordor You can still make the correct decision even if you have your own selfish goals and the way you act when everything crashes down around is not indicative of who you actually are despite how media likes to pretend otherwise. At the end of the day he only devolves into an asshole mess because the author didn't want to morally darken Jin-woo to the viewer for adding him to his army. Fact of the matter is everyone who died in this gate died because Jin-woo decided to hide his power despite being smart enough to know he would need to act in the end because the team wasn't equipped for a B rank boss battle.
@@In-The-Zonelol tf? How is jin woo going to take the lead when its not even his guilds mission, plus everybody thinks he a e-rank. The moment that leader surrounded himself with the stonger hunters and told the weaker ones to go fuck off that made him a selfish charachter. End off
@@ras_baba1801 he told them to stay behind, cause chul knows they will die if they came along to fight the dungeon boss. So as far as he's concerned they are useless. It was the right decision. He didn't surround himself with strong fighters. He is a tank, he did it so that the others will be able to do any sort of damage. E ranks will just get in the way.
@@ras_baba1801 He might be selfish, but his decision makes sense. He knew he couldn´t protect them/they would die anyway. So he took the people that at least had a small chance to survive. And yeah, if the MC revealed his power to everyone, not just his small group, they could have worked together to beat the raid. Of course, this isn´t that kind of story.
They didn't really detail it well in the anime, but he is changing due to one of his perks. Remember when he tried to drink beer and realized that he couldn't get drunk any more because of a perk? Well, it doesn't just purify any toxins he takes/is afflicted by, but also removes all prior flaws. Basically, his body is shifting to its most perfect version of itself, which includes the growth spurt and other changes. It's not really story-relevant (it basically just explains why his character appearance changed so drastically), so it doesn't come up again. Also, remember, Jinwoo can buy items from the "shop" attached to his system. He wasn't carrying around coats--he bought them for a trivial amount of gold each (10G in the manga).
I re-discovered my love for anime over the last year (20 years away) and this is AMAZING, I fell in love with season 1 and went as far to read the entire manga. This episode is exactly how I expected the manga to play out in anime form. Great reaction guys!
21:12 in the early episodes Jinwoo says "I think my intellect is links to mana" He is correct. It has nothing to do with Jinwoo's smarts and also why Jinwoo gets so annoyed with the necromancer job at first, because it's a mana based job, which he has not invested in.
@20:30 yes the intellect spec was linked to his mana levels. But just like strength levels going up made him taller, ripped, and baritone/bass, the intellect stat makes him smarter/wiser
@@YaBoyRockLeeintelligence stat does both things. Raise his mana and magic casting abilities, as well as general intelligence. In the mobile game, it also reduces his ability cooldown timings.
Just finished the episode and came straight to UA-cam to look for this. Loved the episode and now I'm ready for the cherry in top with this 🔥 reaction........

The plane crash was Jeju airlines and it crashed at Muan in southwestern South Korea, not that it matters too much just to clear some potential confusion.
There is a huge variantion in power when it comes to ranks of these hunters. The difference between two hunters of the same rank could be day and night. We'll see this more clearly as we progress through the story.
A Red Gate is basically Another World inside a gate where there would be several Boss Monsters. Red Gates are rare but not impossible to clear. IIRC for Gate Raids, there's a rule set by the Hunters' Association of the bare minimum rank and number of Hunters needed to raid them. For C-Rank gates, 5 B-ranks are enough to clear it. Kim Chul was given 5 B-Ranks and 2 C-Ranks with him an A-Rank to lead and Jin Woo and the girl being tag-alongs to complete the 10 person limit. In the Novel and Manhwa, there were supposed to be 7 B-Ranks and 2 C-Ranks accompanying Kim Chul with Jin Woo and the girl added at the last minute just to observe the raid. (IIRC there's not a set limit to how many people can go inside the gate since Hunter Guilds employ Porters, Miners and Monster Processors to harvest the Crystals and Monster Corpses before the Raid Team finally confronts the Boss to seal the gate.) If you recall the last few episodes in S1 where its just 3 girls chatting in a cafe, they're discussing Kim Chul (the A-Rank tank) who is going to be promoted to a Raid Leader soon. This C-Rank Gate Raid was supposed to be his test where he leads a raid team without guidance or guild oversight and every decision is made by him. His every decision was taught to him by the guild. The Solo Leveling: ReAwakening movie released last month covers Season 2 episodes 1 to 4... So need to wait until Season 2 episode 4 for new story content. However, although we know what happens, looking forward to the episodes as the episodes will go into much more detail, additional dialogue, different angles, etc.
Great Reaction~ Intelligence mainly increases is - his mana store level just like in games.... I'm not sure if you're intentionally calling him 'Jung', but he 'Sung' right.
BTW they scale rank off of like mana level like the amount you have scale ur rank your skills differ I don't really know how people get power or how they get them so idk if they could get more than one power but you can train your power but not increase your rank
jin ah's teacher said that about jin ah thinking of the hooded girl jin ah's friend that don't go to school and decided to be a hunter the teachers favor was to talk to her and convince her to come back to school
In games I think each Stat buffs certain class double n rest in only one if any way, Intelligence typically raises Mana Levels and Magic Damage, Stamina is always HP for every class, Agility is is like Mana and Damage for Hunters n Rogues, Strength is Mana n Damage for Tanks and Melee I think? I cant remember name of Mana for Non Magic DPS and Tanks n Melee, Think its Dexterity? Or Dexterity n Agility might be reversed and Dexterity is Stat and Agility is Mana Meter? Tanks n Melee DPS I think have like Rage? Been like 10+ years since I last played like WoW or Disblo etc so hard to remember Exactly what was what lol… But yeah Intelligence if this is anything like an actual RPG it shouldnt make you Smarter lol…

17:30 Can someone who knows tell me just without spoilers, please. Can his shadow army be made from monsters like the bears or whatever else? Or is it only humanoids? I dont remember if it was specified in season 1.
Well no the A ranks plan was to fight the ice elves because he went off to beat the boss he was just overconfident considering the weather conditions and the fact that he didn’t have many ppl with him he allowed himself to become stupid
Idk the Hell gate was long and its only 13 episodes...i think well reach Jeju island beginning?? I could be wrong.and we actually get best waifu Berus this season
Y'all can just let them watch the show. You don't need to be parasocial lemmings spoiling the They'll get there. It's fine. Y'all might as well just tell them how it ends, too.
We watched the one with Japanese localization as I had issues with Crunchyroll that day and didn’t realize there would be such a difference because it’s not the first time I’ve done this and I normally don’t have issues

Unfortunately many other reactors will completely gloss over this by glazing Jin woo
@IntuitiveIntrudingNo. many have commented on both points of view. Don’t assume.
@@dajtoad1 mb you’re right
4:45 this episode covered 6 Manwha chapters. Off screen JinWoo went through a complete makeover. In chapter 46 you can see what he did.
Him appearing in Jihee's School with a complete make-over is why we call him 'Sung Drip Woo'
Yeah… thats why i said “this man gets to go around doing whatever the hell he wants to do”. Lol
@@YaBoyRockLee Knew you would, I just wanted to point out how I personally see S ranked
Wait until they hear the National level hunters or SS Rank
Bears are edible in our world as well, but their meat might contain pretty horrible parasites. Also, eating their liver will straight up kill you due to having way too much vitamin A.
That’s exactly why director said the statement. Lol.
Intelligence here, is a matric for measuring Magical Ability, just like in games. This is also confirmed during Job Change Arc where he stated that he didn't have enough MP i.e Intelligence for a typical necromancer.
Yup. Exactly
Loved the fruit symbolism in the OP and the ED. A pomegranate AND grapes? Animators nailed it. IYKYK :D
Season 2 has Arisen
- Kim Chul is voiced by Chikahiro Kobayashi who also voices Legoshi (Beastars), Saichi (Golden Kamuy), Ranga (Slime), Shion (Hell’s Paradise), Ares (Danmachi), Bruno (Burn the Witch), Jormungand (Sacrifical Princess & the King of Beasts), Ex (Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess), Kaito (Scarlet Nexus), Commissioner R (The God of High School), Siberian (Sleepy Princess…), Leland (The Hero is Already Dead), Haruka (ID: Invaded), Sluder (Tales of Wedding Rings), Nagi (Mononogatari), Sigma (Dragon Quest), Clark (Great Pretender), Gears (Fairy Tail), Laios (The Most Notorious “Talker” Runs the World’s Greatest Clan), Monev (Trigun Stampede), Fushi (Chainsaw Man), Assault (Fire Force), Camael (The Devil is a Part-Timer), Yumehisa (Mushibugyou), Guile (The Strongest Sage with Weakest Crest), Wodca (My Isekai Life), Taichi (Days with My Stepsister), Gen (Blue Lock), Lang (JoJo), Shingi (Cardfight), & many more
People are too hard on the A rank hunter, in my opinion, he knew that if he brought the weak hunters with him, they would die 100%, by taking only the strong ones and telling the weak ones to hide and wait for them to kill the boss, he increased, by a little bit, the chances that the weak ones would survive.
I actually love seeing Igris brought to life! My favourite shadow 🐐
Looking forward to another fantastic season of Solo Leveling with you all!
21:12 in the early episodes Jinwoo says "I think my intellect is links to mana" He is correct. It has nothing to do with Jinwoo's smarts and also why Jinwoo gets so annoyed with the necromancer job at first, because it's a mana based job, which he has not invested in.
If you can take the bears, stay in bear territory. Better than challenging the effing wild hunt on their turf.
And Today many youtubers instantly reacts to this series 😂
@20:30 yes the intellect spec was linked to his mana levels. But just like strength levels going up made him taller, ripped, and baritone/bass, the intellect stat makes him smarter/wiser
Lol. Thank you. You’re the only person who acknowledged I was on the right track and just stopped lol.
(11:05) she's trying not to die lol, work smarter now harder
(14:39) the FASTEST shot of a polar bear with a face down, butt up dead position😂a disrespectful killing
Great episode 😍😍 intro for what's to come in the season. Animation, music and fighting are top. Jin Woo is so cool 🔥
I love the way Jinwoo is actually affectionate towards his army.
Sung drip woo is back!!
The plane crash was Jeju airlines and it crashed at Muan in southwestern South Korea, not that it matters too much just to clear some potential confusion.
Most likely just bought those coats with the system store. I don’t think he had them prepared
There is a huge variantion in power when it comes to ranks of these hunters. The difference between two hunters of the same rank could be day and night. We'll see this more clearly as we progress through the story.
Solo Leveling Abridged predicted the first five minutes of this episode, and I'm laughing my ass off.
(IIRC there's not a set limit to how many people can go inside the gate since Hunter Guilds employ Porters, Miners and Monster Processors to harvest the Crystals and Monster Corpses before the Raid Team finally confronts the Boss to seal the gate.)
All he wanted to do is to rush the Gate Boss so the Raid Party can return home quickly since it is known that in a Red Gate 1-day inside is 1 hour outside (not as compressed as a Hyperbolic Time Chamber where 1 Day is 365 days inside)
So going in light was a legitimate strategy, the problem is that Ice Elves are intelligent creatures and can use tactics and ambushes to kill the Raiders.
The Solo Leveling: ReAwakening movie released last month covers Season 2 episodes 1 to 4... So need to wait until Season 2 episode 4 for new story content.
However, although we know what happens, looking forward to the episodes as the episodes will go into much more detail, additional dialogue, different angles, etc.
how 1-4 ? everyone is saying that first 2 episodes were covered only. You are the only person I saw saying 4 episodes
On further looking into it and the Manwa pacing, perhaps you are correct
The elves passed the Night King and the White walkers vibe , shiiii 🧊❄🏔
I love your reactions cause’ i like how you guys commented ❤
Yes, Sung Jiwoo has the same voice actor. He's amazing.
Great Reaction~ Intelligence mainly increases is - his mana store level just like in games.... I'm not sure if you're intentionally calling him 'Jung', but he 'Sung' right.
Yeah lol. I was going with what you said at 20:45. Its like that in Dragons Dogma to do spells
BTW they scale rank off of like mana level like the amount you have scale ur rank your skills differ I don't really know how people get power or how they get them so idk if they could get more than one power but you can train your power but not increase your rank
As a manhwa reader I feel sorry for the ppl that think they are getting jeju anytime soon. 😂. Love the vids.
Could this season I saw posting for 2 ep per arc so could be there around 8-13 setting up ?
I've been waiting for season 2 reactions. Already seen the first two episodes in the Solo Leveling: Awakening movie, amazing episodes.
"This place Is way to cold you need a Jacket" if y'all know, y'all know😏
jin ah's teacher said that about jin ah thinking of the hooded girl jin ah's friend that don't go to school and decided to be a hunter the teachers favor was to talk to her and convince her to come back to school
Been like 10+ years since I last played like WoW or Disblo etc so hard to remember Exactly what was what lol…
But yeah Intelligence if this is anything like an actual RPG it shouldnt make you Smarter lol…
Okay y'all reading this, be honest, if the polar bear were to lay belly up he'd be the perfect bed to take a nap, yes or nah?
Yes.
U can eat bear meat...alot of people do...theres just a risk of catching parasites or worms from doing so
Exactly. Hence the statement lol
Only if not prepared correctly. Same with all wild meat.
@@YaBoyRockLeehonestly don’t think the risk of catching parasites is any higher than any other wild meat. Bear meat is hard to cook though since it’s usually pretty tough and has a really strong smell
Haven't read or even know what happens here but it's pretty blatantly obvious what this was...even at the end of S1. This is a hyperbolic time chamber. They blatantly explain the exp drops are higher here for him and 1 day in there = 1 hour outside. So while Brian Hawk over here malds, Shadow Monarch gets to power level.
Also what I'm referring to the end of season 1 is that it feels like a DM is basically doing everything. Basically saying no bitch, take the OP class I gave you. Or caused the dungeon to go red because he would get shit stomped if he encountered a S rank this early. Not saying there is but only it seems like there is. I mean he keeps on getting the 'rare' scenarios. A little sus that it KEEPS happening, at least to him.
I cant believe Jinwoo killed the cocaine bear 😢
He's like high A rank right now. Still a ways from S rank. & the intelligence stat raises his mana (mp) storage.
@@Omgeezy45 no, he's definitely an S rank now. A low one, but definitely S.
