- In this episode of 'Price Points,' Epicurious challenges butter expert Josh Windsor to guess which one of two butter selections is more expensive. Josh, Assistant Caves Manager at Murray's Cheese in Long Island City, explains what goes into making different types of butter, the differences in how it’s packaged and sold, and how to tell whether you’re working with a budget butter or the cream of the crop.

I love this series, but I eagerly await the episode where the expert actually hates the pretentiousness of some products.
For ex:
"Product B is made with traditional methods that involve harvesting the base product under the light of a full moon by only blind, legless orphans. They also add battery acid from their artisinal heavy metal mines. Clearly, this is the more expensive product, but screw those guys. Just buy the one on the left and save 350 bucks per pound"
@@migueldelmazo5244 Most of their experts go "the expensive one is nice but the cheaper one is great too just get that unless it's for a gift of something"
@Jane Doe "I love this series". I didn't say I am anti foodie, but feel free to assume as you like and be offended if that is better for you.
If you don't think it'd be funny by virtue of it being unexpected to hear someone buck the classic trope of "more intensive labor yields better product", we can agree to disagree.
If you want to just have a confrontational conversation while hiding behind a pseudonym, then I yield that you are better than me in every conceivable way and wish you the very best. You've won more internet points than me today.
The greatest and funniest thing about the show is how the experts first give a dozen strong arguments on why A is better than B but then still act terrified and uncertain when asked to lift the price sticker :D
Никита Митцев sometimes cheaper products can taste better due to brand markups, he even says it after getting the unsalted butter right, price doesnt always indicate quality
Никита Митцев Its the Dunning-Kruger effect. You might've heard of "side A" of this cognitive bias that causes non-experts to overestimate their knowledge in a subject, which is the reason dumb people think they're smart, and why people with a tin ear think they can sing, etc., but the lesser known "side B" of the Dunning-Kruger effect causes people with high expertise to underestimate their abilities or expertise in a given subject. It causes this nervous reaction of being unsure of their opinion, and it also causes experts to think everyone else knows as much as they do, and this is the reason highly intelligent people are often perceived as being condescending. In actuality they may just think they're nothing special and that "everyone must know what I know."
You could see him die inside when they presented him with non-dairy butter.
They purposefully do it, like the veggie sausage.

This was painful to read.
Hahhahaha. HAHA
@@giantsfan7733 "Expert A has a very strong presence, a very confident showing on its notes. Definitely has that sharp wake-up note. Expert B is more subtle, and far more mellow. The showing is more relaxed, a little bit more intimate, and a little less loud on the data usage. In comparison to A, B is a bit more of an acquired taste. Now both A and B have very unique presentations in their style and appearance. My guess however, in terms of marketability, A would reach a far bigger audience given the confident showing. However in terms of reliability, my guess is that B has a lower error rate. Hence B should be more expensive"
