@rebma slmbr the love hypothesis and the unhoneymooner's are both amazing, and I highly recommend Evie Dunmore or Julia Quinn if you like historical romance.
@rebma slmbr maybe see if you can find out why people don't like a certain book and see if this is something that will bother you. Since you like romances, if someone says "I hated this book because we spend all these time with the characters being lovey dovey while the war they are fighting is not focussed on as much", you'll probably still like the book. Finding someone who generally shares your taste is really helpful in this too.

People should be rating the book, not the kind of person the character is. In fact, imperfect characters are the best kind
I honestly don't mind reading low reviews when they seem reasonable. There will always be people that have different preferences than I do and that's fine by me. However that doesn't affect how I view the book and how much I enjoyed it. I judge the book base on what I think of it not anyone else.
