Frist off, I wish I would have taken this series with a much higher level of understanding. Not understanding that these are just words on paper for actors is very lacking in my reaction to this series. I did watch the full length episodes some things just get edited out. I'm sorry if you find my reaction disrespectful. I have nothing but respect for the actual men who are heroes. Obviously I didn't really understand that these actors are playing out the role of very specific actual people in the world and not just playing out a story written for them. My appologies. If you decide to watch the other two Spielberg-Hanks WW2 series, "The Pacific" and "Masters of the Air", know that the characters are also based on real people and real events.
7:32 The guy who got killed was the one who hadn't done "anything but deliver mail and type morning reports". He didn't have experience and had forgotten any training he had.
The guy Cobb. The one who was drunk. If you look at the jeep in the background when it pans out with Webster looking around. You'll see Cobb in the back of the jeep. The MP'S had him because he got into a fight with lieutenant Foley. If I remember was given a dishonorable discharge.
Lt. Jones was made 2nd Lieutenant when he graduated from west point on June 6th. When he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant it was in February or March. So he was 2nd Lieutenant for 8 or 9 months before he was promoted.
I'm just curious and a bit confused. If you didn't realise these people in the show were real, how did you take the caption at the end of the 2nd episode when it said some of these guys, including Winters, got medals for taking out the guns?? And the interviews in the beginning, did you think those were actors aswell?? Because they mention names from time to time that you hear in the show.
These comments are embarrassing. This show is not some sacred document. While I really enjoyed it, other people are allowed to not have that same appreciation. If you only watch reactions while expecting people to agree with you completely, then what is the point?
Yes, your comment is embarrassing, but you have every right to give it, just like opposing viewpoints have the right to give theirs. I am just pointing out how clueless he is and disrespectful, he needs to know it, to be able to fix the problems, and to some people that matters. We have our opinions and you have yours, and we can both freely express them. If you have a problem with that then maybe you are the problem.
I'm with you. It's a show. It's entertainment. These same dorks spout off about respecting the guys and then they'll talk about dike being dumb(but not the real guy), sobel being terrible, etc.. Bunch of dumbass virtue signalling.
@@justsmashing4628 blah blah blah I am just trying to help the guy do better lol. Because his reactions are really bad, he should want to improve and do better and how would he know that unless we are honest. So, your welcome. Just providing a public service lol.
@Kris-k8h Then try providing some more constructive and informative commentary than "Bad" Try offering some intelligent suggestions on what to do differently, thats if you actually want to help and not just be a d**k
@@Markus117d this is episode 8 and he has been told by many people including myself since episode 1 and he has done nothing to improve, so being a d%%k it is.
@@ReligionIsSillywell then you hit that nail right on the head. If you’re complaining that as a civilian he called the soldier who walked into his own grenade a dummy, well what would your thoughts, as a veteran, about what the soldier did? It was a fatal act of stupidity. He may have been a clerk, but he went through the exact same training and still did it. As a veteran myself, I’d say that he acted stupidly. If you think James is the worst reactor on YT, then why are you still watching?
1:35 I'm sure nobody wanted to be like Henry Gunther, the last man who was killed in World War I. He was killed at 10:59 a.m., a minute before the Armistice came into effect.
You know, remember, you are a civilian, (one pay grade below a private) Referring to any of these fine troops as "dummy or idiot" is rich. Moreover, all of the Soldiers depicted in this documentary have passed. Show some respect.

It’s all good James, no worries
I have to think most of us understand.

"That's a big gun" Dude that was the M2 Browning .50 caliber heavy barrel machine gun. That was what I fired as a Tank Commander.

If the Lieutenant from West Point looks vaguely familiar, it's because it's Tom Hanks's son, Collin Hanks.
