My Nan taught me to knit too and like you I grew up on a street with extended family members. We lived in the middle, my Nan and Grandad were at one end of the street and my great Auntie lived at the other end. Such happy memories 🧶🥰

I learned to knit through my mum the neighbours would come in our house with there knitting on an afternoon when the housework was doen and sit and knit till it was time to make tea I loved it then also I did it at school to remembering making a dolls dress x

I know it’s an odd question but I remember on a previous podcast you said that you had moved to your current home when your twins were quite little and I wondered what made you pick your current house? My nan (granny) tried to teach me but I could only knit great big holes so we both gave up! I taught myself, about 7 years ago now, I like to think that nan would have been proud of my achievement ❤ Lillian is such a cutie ❤
Hi Paula! Good to see your beautiful face 😍 if you have a tablet of some kind you can open your pdf pattern into the note taking app and annotate it without printing it at all! I use Samsung notes but you can use apples version or any others pretty much. It works a charm!

Hi Paula, hey I just love the story about you learning to knit with your nan and a bunch of aunts! That sounds like such fun! You had great models of needleworkers! I remember all the straight needles that we had and that you had to use books to teach yourself knitting techniques because no one in my family was a knitter. I learned in Girl Scouts when I was 11 or 12. But I learned crochet in art class in about sixth grade when we worked on making draw string purses! How I loved all of that. I love your sweet old lady Lillian! I have a sweet old man Carson, an apricot miniature poodle. We love him so much. I love cats too, but family is allergic so can’t have one now!😢
We have a lot in common, making bears, rabbits, crochet blankets and socks. I’m not too fast at knitting socks though, but they are addictive. When I was in my teens I had a pink gingham dress, that brought back memories for me. If you fancy doing a bunny swap, let me know. Mary
Lovely to see a video from you on my rainy day, I was hoping to be in the garden but it’s pouring rain and I always enjoy a visit from you. 🥰. I love the colour way of the socks you’ve knit James, it’s a nice summery design. I can’t wait to see how the pride stripes turn out, they’ll be nice and bright. It’s so easy to spoil the pets, I’m down to my last cat and he’s shockingly spoiled, always wanting something wether food or being brushed, ear rubs, playing with toys, he keeps me busy. 😂 The velvet bags look so pretty, I’ve never seen fabric like that here, rare to find a printed velvet at all. I once made a winter coat of a lovely dark purple / burgundy flowered velvet and wore it to death. It was so different and fit so well but I’ve never found another fabric I liked as well. I worked in a fabric shop partime for fun then so got great deals on fabric but everything has increased in price now😳. My great grandmother May, her sister Emmaline and my Nan Gwen taught me to “ knit and sew “ loosely described😂 when I was around 5 . They had to or they would never have got anything of their own done, I wanted to help crochet their fine doilies and handkerchief lace so they gave me my own needles and yarn but I mostly made holes so they made me a spool knitter and I made yards and yards of that then sewed them together in a coil to make pot holders as Christmas gifts. I am the same about pears and bananas. My pears must be hard, not soft/juicy. My bananas must have just turned yellow but still be very firm....
