- This is a really cool piece of hardware and I’m happy to own it and talk about it! I did a lot of research to find some unique information, and towards the end I realized I should be keeping better track of my sources. This isn’t all of them unfortunately, but I want to start sharing those with you so that you can know I take this seriously! (Let me know if that’s something you want to see more of, btw!)

I love the deep research you do on these videos. Great job!!
Love your vids man
Love Kelsey, Radical Reggie and Metal Jesus! Kelsey has in depth information and really well put together content. Reggie has very similar tastes to me and his recommendations and reviews are excellent. Metal Jesus... those videos just plain rock! Really appreciate all the hard work that goes into all these channels. 😎
Metal jesus rocks!!!!
MetalJesusRocks Your content rocks man keep it up dude.
Jesus u r everywhere.
Kelsey, I had a baby-sitter who lived across the street from me growing up. She was awesome and used to make biscuits and chocolate gravy every morning for me. Anyways, to this day, I keep telling everyone she had a Nintendo built-in to her tv and no one ever believed me lmao! Thanks for the video, because this helps a lot with my experience growing up. Toni (the girl who baby-sat me) was awesome at Iron Sword, and I LOVED the music to it. This video brings back so many memories I'm almost at tears, and I'm 32 yrs. old. So, with that said, I've decided to subscribe and I'm binge watching your channel for the next few days. You rock Kelsey!
Small correction: the US system outputs COMPOSITE directly to the screen. The Famicom Titler (that's a whole other video) and the Japanese C1 TV are the only Famicom/NES that natively output RGB. Many sources got this wrong annoyingly...should have triple checked!
you should review the tv with a built in playstation 2
I’ve heard of this! But never knew much about it. And is there also a SNES television?
she mentioned the snes TV during the video.
Kelsey Lewin oh yeah she might have mentioned it when I was away from my tv
Another tiny correction about fixing CRTs, 4:30 yes they are very dangerous, and they can store a very nasty charge long after they've been turned off, but not for years! Probably more like a day at the most.
Still dangerous things though, and you should really, really, really know what you are doing if you are going to open one up, even if it is off.
Thanks for the video! Never knew these existed!!
I'm so jealous of the condition of yours. I'm missing the doors, controllers, and remote. My uncle was a brute and lost and destroyed most of the pieces. As a kid I never knew better and thought it was just normal to play my NES games on a TV like this. As I got older and started to have friends over to play only then did I realize it was a unique piece of gaming. I was ballsy enough to take mine apart a couple years ago and repair my pin connector but let me tell you, it was terrifying since I didn't know how to discharge the capacitor in the TV. I carefully worked around it and luckily didn't get zapped. Another tidbit to add, while anecdotal, my grandmother remembers seeing it in her FingerHut magazines as well. It's not talked about and even I forgot to mention it in my videos.
Did your uncle get it from fingerhut originally or somewhere else? If so I'd love to hear how much it was a month.
I was told we got it from the Kmart across the river from my current apartment but that it was also available through FingerHut. I was told a few times what the cost was for us but I can't recall right now. My dad is due to phone me later on so I can ask him to ask my grandmother if she remembers or if he even remembers. I wanna say it was around $800. I feel like someone has posted the TV with original receipt but I could be thinking of something else. I have to see if it was in the TV owner's FB group or elsewhere.
Ok, just got off the phone with my dad, he said my grandmother paid roughly $750 to $800 for it. Hope that helps. Wish we were smart enough to keep everything for it.
Be on a look out for 3D printed parts
odaddy 47 I have the measurements for the Game door but the guy that’s supposed to be printing it fucked off on me.
Hey Kelsey. I don't have any proof but I do remember very well. When I was about 7 me and my parents where looking for a new TV for my room. The mall I seen this TV in was St. Clarsville Ohio Valley Mall in about 1987 in sears. Me and my brother both played with it. And dreamed of getting it as we did not have a NES at the time. I remember that if you started it without a game galaga played on it. I can tell you one of the reasons I think it did not sell was the price. When me and my brother played with it. It was on sale for around $650 for holiday. Me and my brother assumed that was the price. As in those days they would just put a current tag up and not tell you how much off it was. When we dragged our mom in to show her and ask her it for Christmas the sale was over. And the price had increased to just under $800. At the 650 it was about 50 more than just getting a good 19inch color TV and a Nintendo. But at $800 you could get that and some games or a bigger TV. So I remember it failing due to price. And there was really nothing on it or the box that said it played NES games. And back pre internet. If you did not spell everything out for people they would not know or trust it. The thought process then was. Why should I trust sharp to make a knock off Nintendo when I can get a real one. And it has Mario packed in instead of Galaga.
Anyway just some insight. And what I clearly remember when I had a run in of a new one of these.
Cell Processing it was so long ago for me but when I thought about the price I vaguely remember but am glad somebody else mentioned it being around $600 because that's what I remember seeing it for. I remember I saw it in a fingurhut catalogue and taking it to school one day and showing my gamer friends and that was the one thing that just made it an after thought was the price. The NeS system back then was like $140, which for the time was a lot of money, $600-800 or even a thousand was a fortune, nobody was going to throw down that for video game stuff.
Glad it helps someone
for what its worth, the Toys R Us near that mall looks as if it still stocks NES games...
could u imagine that if tomorrow. we just had NO internet,
how nutty things would become.
No Galaga for American NES until September 1988
Great video K, very informative!
You!!!! " Still Wearing A Slappy Mask"
This is some of the most INFORMATIVE and educational nerd nostalgia videos I have EVER WATCHED. Thank you metal Jesus for having this awesome person on your channel, and enticing me to watch some of her content. You 2 rock!
I scored a little 1983, Japanese made Sony Trinitron recently. Its like this thing was made for really old video game consoles. It knows nothing about red and yellow plugs but It has back and front coaxial ports, great mono sound and an easy fine tune system. Even has this unique removable plastic screen cover that you can polish up nicely after you accidently spray Dorito flavoured cola spit all over it in a rage. Really gives it an arcade type look and feel as well. I think its polarised or something because it seems to have help keep the screen quality in great condition. I buddied it up with a nes, customised it with a few stickers and a couple of shiny, aftermarket Nintendo badges, and now its my unofficial SONY NES TV.
If you love playing nes, you got to get something like this I think. I couldn't imagine playing on anything else now. 32cm/12.5 inch screen is big enough to not stretch the 8-bit graphics and make them look nice. Plus, small enough to fit on the corner of a large coffee table without blocking your big screen TV. If you are playing nes on a modern flat screen, you played yourself!
This reminds me when I was young, i travel to US (im from mexico) and I stay in a hotel with my family, they have a TV with a built Nintendo on it, and it has a timer, so you can order the games, and play but with a timer according to what you pay, the controls are there and you cant disconnect them.
We stayed in a hotel that had N64 games built in to the TV (this was about 15 years ago). I think the game software was delivered to the unit from a central server that did the billing. Our kid loved it.
Congrats on the find!
This is so cool! It's amazing to hear about all these unique electronics that came out. I wish they made more unique stuff like this nowadays.
I'm just discovering your channel and I'm already in love with your content, didn't even think twice about subscribing. keep up the great work!
That's crazy!!! I just bought the only Sharp Nintendo TV controller I could find, and the only one I've ever seen!!
My mother once had the U.S. version that you showed with the black controllers and she absolutely loved it. My dad had picked it up for her from a local rent to own place. Sadly they hit some financial troubles and had to send it back. It's a real shame too cause I know how much she loved it. She still mentions it from time to time. Perhaps one day if by some miracle I ever can afford it, it would be so nice to find one for her again.
Gotta love the Kelsey!
TheBarockTrickster I hit it 😏
I appreciate how deep you had to dig for info on this obscure piece of tech. Enjoy your videos, I like seeing that face.
There was a TV in India that also had NES games built in. My "rich kid" friend had it, this was 2006.
Hey Kelsey! I really enjoy all of your videos. I'm always up for learning about some obscure gaming device that is rarely talked about. I'm sure many would agree, you should make these videos longer, or even start making more! You are clearly enjoyed by all, your informative and well knowledge input is greatly enjoyed so I'm sure you would be supported if you chose to be more active!
Kelsey --- Seriously excellent job on this video all around. I learned a ton from this and was super entertained the entire time. Thanks for making this video! Keep up the awesome work!
Excelent Episode Kelsey. Love your approach putting history firts for context
Jose Andres Carvajal Villalta history farts
No, no. History forts. We used to make them out of chairs and blankets all the time. :p
This was a dope video.I have heard of the sharp TV but didnt know much about it so thanks for teaching me more
Much props for saying you don't know something instead of making stuff up. Thank you
Never knew this existed, very cool. Those controllers are awesome too.
Really miss your videos, these are so interest to watch.
Heard of this before, it's like a Vectrex on crack. Great vid!
On crack what is this the 80's? When does anyone say being on crack is a good thing?
Seeing as how they were made in the 80's, yes. It actually is the 80's.
yes, like a vectrex you tool
lol wow
+BigSqueeGG
dont knock it till ya try it there bub
omg, My uncle had one of these when I was little and nobody believed me that they had a built in Nintendo! So glad to have found this ! ♥
Sony made a tv with a built in PS2. I know, most of you know that, I just couldn't think of anything else to say. GAME ON NERDS!!!!
I didn't know that.
yeah i mentioned it earlier in the comments.
pizzamon 79 I'm a lifelong Sony fan and I never knew that. That's pretty cool actually.
damn cool i want one
Never knew that lol that's a cool fact tho
Holy cow Kelsey, these vids are getting better and better. I'll be back for more!
Lots of new info here!
That's what I hoped to hear! :) research was worth it
man these things are so cool, and we went so long without ever knowing they existed! It was like when i found out that hotels offered video game consoles for you to play if you rented them out, would have loved that.
Impressive telekinesis powers 👍🏻
awesome wonder swan intro, omg the Sharp nes tv still to this day would be great to own but back when I was a kid I would have be attached at the hip to such a device... ...I absolutely adore this tv it is for sure a bucket list item among all the other things out there like the wild card for the snes and recently i fashioned a famicom converter and started ordering games for it. I plan to make it up to one of the pink gorilla shops soon I live about 2 hours south east of Seattle so its a must I go shopping up that way !!! and as always AWESOME video keep up the good work!!! :)
I would love to have one, but I'm not paying the high price for it, would rather buy a vectrex, which is next on my list.
Jason Rotbergs mmm, Vectrex is always a win!
Be sure to hunt around for the game "Rip-off" damn frustratingly good one ^^
ImmortalInflames will do, I have four games already waiting to be reunited with a system :)
Just wanted to say I think you’re brilliant with your vast knowledge. Somethings I never would’ve thought of have come from you. I’m very very glad I came across your content please don’t ever change!
Kelsey please do a video showing your favorite Japanese imports. Maybe you can make it into a series ♥
Always been interested in this, but as you mentioned, information is scarce. Thanks for the great compilation of what we do know, and I'm looking forward to future videos on these weird hybrids. I learned a lot!
Kelsey, that's awesome. Was yours in working order when you picked it up from Rent A Center?
this was actually brought into my store as "junk" -- the lady said it was broken and she was going to throw it away. It's in great working order tho so maybe she just had dirty games or something. I still paid her well and she was ecstatic about it.
Wow that's crazy, Kelsey! I wonder how many have been tossed for reasons like this when all they needed was a little TLC
Somewhere in the mid 90's my cousin had a small red unit, never looked at the brand. His mom worked at a hotel in Santa Ana, California. I'm not sure if in the lobby or if in the rooms but at this hotel they had this tv. The owner gave her the used tv to give to my cousin as they didn't own Nintendo nor a functioning tv at the time. We played the hell out of that thing. I was super jelly of that tv for whatever reason, I had a small 13 inch TV in my room and an nes. I just thought the red looked so cool and how it loaded the games was mind blowing at the time. I have no idea what became of the tv or of my cousin. They definitely got their red tv with built in nes from a hotel.
She is just so cute
talkretrogames her thumbnails are click bait simply because it's her. Lol. Man. We are creeps. Oh well.
Is she asian?
I think she is half White and half Asian. Just going by her last name seems like father might be the White one, unless she is married or adopted and surname has changed.
talkretrogames i know right
Jeff Bays frrr
u guys have renewed my love for retro games even more
Nintendo Age has a list of all known Sharp NES TVs put you name on the list! It's pretty rare to have that remote. Even rarer to have all 4 of those flimsy asp legs intact.
Here is mine for reference
I got a TV so I can play my Nintendo imgur.com/a/5h0lO
Nice! Yours still has the seal of quality sticker too. Are you in the FB group for these too?
Congrats on the SNES Classic Mini! :)
I still have mine. With the remote and the legs intact. :)
This is the first video of yours that I’ve watched and it covers so many details that no other video has. Thanks a bunch, keep up the good work! *Subscribed*
wow that's so cool keep up the awesome videos God bless you
alahu akbar
didnt you know? all gamers go to hell
THAT INTRO
That mascot is going to give me nightmares
I was calling him Bootleg Big Bird
So fluffy, though
Big Bird's mutant evil twin
In fact, he's the secret director of Nintendo. All the workers of the company were born from his eggs. Nothing else to say.
Kelsey Lewin where is Peter Griffin with a baseball bat when you need him?
thank you for making this video, its so hard to find compiled information about this tv all in one place
Kelsey Where have you been ?????? You haven't posted in a month !!!!!!!
The way you present your content is just awesome. You're extremely talented and good at discussing video-games
I'm learning so much. More videos please.
That's amazing. What an incredible find. I can't believe it's possible for products like this to become totally forgotten.
4:25. Random 64 game sitting there.
Haha I shot that part in the back room of Pink Gorilla Games. So yeah lots of random stuff lying around. The repair station isn't quite big enough to take apart a whole TV 😜
Looks like a soccer game.
Shovel wear! That's why it's on the floor.
Haha, having clicked this, it's good for scale, now I realize this thing is a bit bigger than it looks on first glance.
Good eye dude lol
The reason why they're hard to find in Sears magazines and such is because they were never really meant to be sold to the public in large numbers. Even though they did sell some in public stores their main consumer were hotels and gaming expos and places like that. I remember Las Vegas hotel rooms had these and they also had some sort of lock chips inside them so to play games in your hotel room you had to call the front desk and they unlocked it for a certain amount of time depending on how much it costs. Nintendo wanted the consumer to focus more on the NES for private use. That's why the tvs cost more than a Nintendo and tv separate. Because sharp knew businesses would pay extra for it.
LOL @ telekinesis powers
I’ve seen one of these at a local retro games store! Never heard of them elsewhere, so I’m extremely glad I stumbled across this video. Very informative, great work :D
Its not RGB its composite
Ahhh, that last model. A hotel I frequented when I was a kid (Always had the same room, went 3-5 times a year) had it!
Always enjoyed that...Wonder if it's still there? Heh. I should go buy it.
nice video, love you kelsey =)
Whhhhhaaaaatttt?? This is amazing!! How do you not have millions of subscribers?? I never knew about this and I thought I knew my stuff!!
Looking pretty
Hey, your video just came up to me randomly and I gotta say I really enjoyed it, it reminded me when I started watching AVGN back in the days, keep up the good work!
Do you work for medal jesus 0.o still are you like his assistant or something I always wondered lol
John Feliciano she owns a video game store in the Seattle area.
He's been nice enough to offer but we all just like being a part of the community and spreading retro gaming love :) so no, no payment
Kelsey Lewin ooooooh ok cool
Kelsey Lewin not even in candy money?
I just finished listening to the Not so common podcast and looked up your channel. I really like it, keep it up!
dat knowledge tho
dat ass tho.
Ah Yes the Beauty of 8-bit gaming and how it all started. I remember reading an article about this and the Color TV-Game from Wikipedia.
She's so beautiful, I watch her videos all the time♡♡♡♡
Jimmy J there’s a whole world out there buddy.
I think it's the way you see her genuinely geek out on things that's hot. She absolutely knows more about gaming than I do for sure and I'm old with too much time on my hands.
You don't need an excuse why she is beautiful.
I am a married man and certainly not trying to hit on her or find someone.
I remember when people used to actually tell woman they looked good or pretty. 😑
I'll even tell a guy! Hey man.. Lookin sharp! 👍
Doesn't mean I'm gay and I wanna jump your bones. 😂
Not everyone is 12. 😉
youre so virgin
i hope she likes face sitting!
I love when two companies do a collaboration and release a product together. Great video Kelsey!
Is Kelsey ethnically Japanese or Japanese + white mixed? Just curious.
She's not. Someone asked her on twitter if she's half Asian and she said no.
Lol. It is the little point she does with the eye liner. It's trendy.
'wings'
Idk, I guess she would know, but she looks asian, and I dont't think it's the eyeliner. She should do one of those ancestory tests
Who cares? She's beautiful
Wow i knew Nintendo as a company had been around for a long time before releasing there first games console, but i never knew they made a T.V. with a built in Nes.Also i'd never heard of Famicom.Great vid.I only found your channel yesterday from suggested vids while watching M.J.R.
Wow you are so beautiful
flash of doom Yeah. Beautiful overbite.
It's cute
She's average at best
you just mad cause your girlfriend looks like a river troll zach
if any average or even below average girl goes on youtube and says she plays video games then every neckbeard virgin loser acts like she's the most beautiful girl on the planet because they've rarely left their mom's basement and actually seen other women in real life. "Oh wow, a GIRL....and she plays VIDEO GAMES!" Newsflash you fucking nerds, everyone plays video games. This girl is like a 5/10 at best.
I thought that was screw up when you said between $800-1000 retail. What were they smoking?! Also I love the screen shot from old store ads, takes me back. Good vid 👍
Your content is awesome! I hope all the comments about your appearance don't discourage you to keep making great vids.
GREAT video Kelsey. I love these documentary style vids. Nice job!
Your knowledge on games is quite astounding
Great work Kelsey 👏🏻
Nice work on this, Kelsey! Seems like a pretty cool item.
Those phones really have that timeless retro look to them, love finding out about all this new junk! Love your videos =0
Woow congrats , these videos have greatly improved in video and audio production value compared to the first ones ! Good job I enjoy your content every time
I remember talking with my friends and we couldn't really name many female youtubers focused on video games that didn't fall into the usual kind of female "gamer" stereotypes but I'm glad I found this channel. Definitely subscribing.
Great vid Kelsey. Native RGB in that Sharp is pretty awesome.
Didn't even know anything like this existed! Super cool!! Keep up the awesome videos :)
I like obscure hardware and games, but I ALSO like you! Great video!
Kelsey, I just wanted to let you know that I love you and your work ❤️
Fantastic video as always Kelsey!
Great video! I quite like these! Looking forward to the next one....especially the SNES.
Again great video and indeed you did a great deep research, I hope you make more video's in the future :D
you do some serious research kels, dedication right there
Nice to now that Sampo and Sanyo worked side by side. Thank you for the info!
I was sad that I was running out of MetalJesusRocks videos to watch and then I discovered you have a whole backlog of videos to watch. Even better, I discovered your videos are well made and interest me, love it, thank you!
Great video, very interesting and full details I never knew about the Famicom. The Famicon was originally an microwave oven who’d a thunk
Wow Kelsey, I never knew you had your own channel, keep up the good work!
Love the Kelsey/Bandai Intro thing you did there!
i remember my Grandma had a microwave that looked just like that when i was a kid. Cool vid K-Lew keep em coming. U rock !!!!

About time you do your own channel. You go Girl!!
