I was curious how hotels mitigate the risk of pests, especially bedbugs, and how liable they might be when intentionally renting out infested rooms. Of course us guests should always do our due diligence, but it's scary to think uninhabitable rooms are rented out so casually (if the contract is "rent as is"..are consumers protected under a federal law or ftc rule?) Huge pubic health issue! We all need to do our part.
keep in mind: 1) the bites could show up latter on, not necessary immediately!!! per CDC "Most people do not realize they have been bitten until bite marks appear anywhere from one to several days after the initial bite. The bite marks are similar to that of a mosquito or a flea - a slightly swollen and red area that may itch and be irritating. The bite marks may be random or appear in a straight line. "Bed Bugs - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - CDC; (in my situation to) 2) for have a case, beside the evidences, you must have very sever bad aggravated injuries/bites.
I just went to a hotel recently in Santa barbara. I went to visit my son and I drove an hour and a half away to Santa Maria the hotel was rated 4.3 stars and it had nothing but positive reviews. I showed up and it was filthy. It grossed me out so much that I didn't want to stay but I had nowhere else to sleep. I got in the room and I felt gross I sat in the bed and I started itching.. I got bed bugs from a roommate about 7 years ago. He came and brought all of his furniture and belongings to our home and neglected to tell any of us that he had bed bugs which came over to my room since we were the only two bedrooms upstairs. I woke up looking like I had chicken pox again. I had bites all over my face all over my back and I a complete and utter meltdown. I threw so much of my things away and had to wipe down my furniture and everything it took almost a week. We had to do the whole house. It was awful and I never ever want to go through that again. They just reminded me of that when I sat on that bed I started looking everywhere because again I started itching immediately all over. I was so absolutely exhausted I was nodding out and trying to stay awake but that woke me up in 2 seconds. I looked over at the front desk and nobody was there I left the keys and I went into the parking lot and I messaged the front desk right away. I slept in my car. I knew I was too tired to drive. I was emotional because I just couldn't believe that happened. I had also looked near the lamps and the mattress along the edges for blood and specs. I saw light tracks of blood along the mattress and that's what I really flipped out. I was itching in my car and I couldn't fall asleep. I ended up going to a gas station the next morning and vacuuming my car and went home. When I went to shower I had bites all over my stomach and my back. It took almost three days for the hotel to get back to me after voicemails I left and emails. The woman told me she went to go look at the room herself and found no traces of the bedbugs. I looked on the reviews again and I couldn't believe it there were over 10 reviews with people saying that they got bed bugs from the same hotel that they had bites all over their bodies and they took it with them to their homes. I have been a complete emotional mess because I have so many other things going on in my life that I already can't handle as it is and as this being the worst possible two years I've ever had in my life. I'm now watching all of my clothes and vacuumed my whole house and I know that may not be enough but I don't know what to do at this point and I'm freaking out
i would like you to write on the comments how others (with out sever/aggravated injuries) information on how guests hotel can recover collateral damage due to failure of the hotel of nuisance. my case: reported to hotel, proof evidences , with normal bites , find bug in home pay for pest control to prevent an infestation . thank you
We had stayed at the Ramada Inn in Provo Utah. In our first room I had gotten bitten several times and we caught a couple of them and took them to the front office. Then took pictures and video. Then went to the quick care to get a doctor's opinion he gave me a prescription. Does this sound right so far????
I stayed at a hotel but didn't check the bed. I was there one night. I left at 7am and upon arrival to my next destination saw all the bite spots on my body. I called the hotel and motel 6 customer service and informed them if the bite marks on my body. I'm on a vacation to visit family and I don't know what to do. This could be a very big disaster
😢 I traveled from out of town to Chicago and stayed at a motel on 95th stoney and we stayed 2 days and during the time of my stay I was itching really bad in my inner thigh by my knee I damn near scratched my skin off the night before leaving I saw a bedbug crawling so that let me know that's why I was itching bad cause had got bitten this just happened I'm omw back home on the road again I have a few pictures I just need to know how to go about this situation
you have a case ONLY on aggravated, sever injuries!!! rest of us can pay out of pocket pest control, etc. i have bites but no so severe to be successful, or someone take you seriously. very frustrating situation how those bed bugs get out of control, because claiming they don`t caring out disease, they are considering pets! Normal some hotel got severely infested with bed bugs, creating cases. Very wrong approach
