Wow… I can’t believe this is 13 years ago. Almost makes me wanna cry watching these older videos because I grew up mimicking his work for HOURS. I never resonated with my inner child due too me going through lots of trauma at a young age, I was forced too grow up fast. But, looking back on these videos makes me feel like a kid again. Thank you for leaving such a mark on mine and many life’s Mark! I hope you understand your value, worth and significance. More life too you man!🤎

Hey I decided to come back here after 6 years! I learned to draw a basic eye when I was 8 and I used this video! I have improved so much ever since and I just want to thank you for teaching me the basics❤

i think watching this video as a beginner in art is a rite of passage for any artist in the modern age. i feel like every single artist i know got their start with this video. I got my start with it.
Seriously haha. I was definitely drawing before this video but once I started realizing that you can objectively make better and more accurate art, Marks tutorials were so fun to learn from. I’m a painter now but Mark is one of the big reasons I can draw and now paint. Feeling nostalgic from the time I was like 8 or 9 coming home, hopping on UA-cam and watching and drawing along to these. Mark helped create a whole generation of talented artists I’m sure :)
It’s been 10 years since I first followed along to this and I still follow your techniques. You taught me and a lot of other young artists how to draw, I’m forever grateful 💕
I just watched the time lapse version of this and i think people should really appreciate not only the talent and effort into drawing and making videos, but the fact that you make your own music for your videos on garageband. Seriously how talented can someone get?

9 years ago I watched this at 13yrs old when we first got wifi and I followed every step. I was amazed at my potential and still draw eyes all the time at 22. Back in 2019 my parents couldn’t believe I drew it. I am thankful for this video! ♥️
OMG! I watched this video a couple of years ago and drew the eye from this tutorial all the time when I had paper 😂. Who knew it was the same guy I'd go to for help with drawings a few years later?!

I remember watching this back in 2009, without even being able to draw a stick figure. Now i am (apparently) best in my class, and everyone always compliment me on the eyes i draw. and i have told them that its only because of you. I remember thinking this was the best drawing of an eye ever when I was 10 and now that I'm 13 I'm kinda like eh compared to a real eye it's not the most realistic but props to him he did a good job

I didn't put a reflection in the eye beforehand, but can I add the reflection afterwards with an acrylic pen, literally over the existing graphite?
I started drawing 3 months ago at the age of 31. Apart from reading a few art books, I learned solely by watching your videos, along with those of Art of Wei and Alphonso Dunn. I have even started a channel myself because I'm enjoying it so much. Thank you so much for all of the tutorials and the inspiration, Mark!

pathetic plays The reason I disliked was because I was looking towards drawing a REALISTIC eye. (I'd classify my self as above average in art, obviously not the best). But he made some mistakes in this drawing, the tear duct is too small and looks like it's not part of the eye? Also, the eyelashes shouldnt just be going to the right, once they get to the middle they have to start going the other way.
(But this was made 5 years ago, so I don't blame him)

Draws a nice eye and shows it to a friend. That friend says," is that an anime eye?," and I just thought, "I would like to see you try." He seemed like he was going to draw the most beautiful eye I have ever seen.
